Next video should be a hair tutorial, cheers from France
Iâm guessing some type of a pomade and maybe some hairspray once itâs where he wants it.
With John Bollinger
@@xb5883 this made me laugh out loud - cheers
His hair looks too generic to me.
I wanna get the Grow Mo Hair Licks Video Please
That guitar sounds gorgeous but man your playing is totally awe-inspiring ! By the way, the quality of your videos (and audio) is top notch and also how the video is structured, first the playing with no talk, and moving forward with all the insights, that's very well done and not boring at all as most of other videos out there. Keep on going. Gracias amigo !!
I heard âtour vlogsââŠ.please I look forward to them again.
When he hit âlove and happinessâ tho! đ€Ż
Good stuff RJ
man that was awesome! everyone be reviewing Mayer's new PRS and here we have our main man reviewing the studio version PRS... love it! I'm stealing and learning lot of licks from you dude! thanks again!
The video should be titled âThe 2021 PRS Studio but in 2022 and who knows when weâll see them in stockâ.
Must be the most underrated PRS 'cause it's one of their best
oh man, you are one of my favourite players to watch reviews on.
i have a s2 studio and without a doubt it became my number one from the second i grabbed it. these core models look insane, but for me here in australia they are retailing for around $6500 which is a hard justification (even worse is almost $9000 for a ten top)
fantastic video (as always)
That intro demo was amazing. So many ideas in one jam!
Wow. Awesome vid. I was watching your new Les Paul vid and saw this. And immediately subscribed. Looking forward to more vids. I absolutely love the finish on that guitar. Its spectacular.
Beautiful aint even the word to express that look /sound/craftsmanship of that ax...maybe just WOW
Love the demo and the guitar. I owned one for a while and regret selling it. Been using a singlecut PRS S2 McCarty 594 now and love it. A little understated for a PRS but full of tone and a meatier neck. I think the studio model is pretty awesome though with all the different tones that you can get out of it and has its own unique voice.
Great demo of this guitar. I own one from '09, and it rocks. Mine has the 57/08 in the bridge. đ€đ»RJ!
My next guitar, finally played one and I'm in love... it's the perfect do-it-all guitar for me!
Love the tones & the playing
Your videos are awesome I really enjoy watching and learning from them. Thanks for sharing.
Almost $5000 it should do everything.... and some!
Yes, and shovel your sidewalk.
I own one and while it is a great guitar, I would be the first to admit that it is over-priced.
Nice review! I have a '13 Studio and love it. It nicely covers all styles, and always surprises me with how much it sounds like a Strat when I roll the volume down. When it's cranked it's in the P-90 ballpark. I run it straight into a Tone King Imperial Mk II on the lead channel with the gain on 10 and control everything from the guitar, and it is an awesome-sounding combination.
Aren't those imperial mk11 something else. Love mine, run a few guitars threw it as well but was curious on this PRS. Is your studio very heavy?? Stable tuning ?? Cheers man
That guitar has been on my bucket list for a while. Love it.
I just fell in love with that guitar. Nice job cat!
What a beauty! You seem to be right at home with it, great video!
I'm definitely buying one of these as soon as they come back in stock. I like the blue one you have, but I also really starting to like the Eriza Verde. As a humbucker guy this is the perfect mix for me to have a single coil(ish) sound without going full chime Strat.
Hi man! I am thinking of getting the Eriza Verde later this month. I saw you post a year ago so would like to check how is it? cheers and thanks!
Great demo, R.J. I love PRS guitars. I play more acoustic than electric and recently got a PRS single cut-away AE model. PRS makes great guitars--excellent value for the money. Of course, R.J. makes everything sound great.
I really enjoyed this demo. Seems like a fun guitar to play.
Dude you gotta keep that guitar. It suits your sound so perfectly
Always love RJ's videos and this one is no exception. Very versatile guitar. Waiting on the SE version:-)
You can find s2 versions with type D single coils on reverb
I have an Eriza Verde 10th annv McCarty 594 with these sane 58/15LT pups, Love it. that being said This blue Studio is one SPECTACULAR sounding and looking guitar. WOW
Beautiful guitar. Sounds great.
Great-sounding guitar with a number of versatile tones.
Excelente demo, Gracias maestro
That's a sick finish on that. Also sick playing.
Pretty sweet guitar, kind of like a beefed up HSS strat. The 'Studio' name is perfect because it seems like the sounds you could coax out of this thing are endless.
Just bought one. Best investment Iâve ever made!!! Absolutely love this guitar.
I have one of the original versions of this guitar. It was my main guitar for a year or so. It can cover a lot of ground. It's a modern guitar though, both in feel and tone.
Excellent playing sir!
I was looking at these when they came out last year. I have an S2 Studio and love it and these looked very interesting but out of my price range. Canât always get what ya want. Then I saw that Willcuttâs had one with a 10 top for $3200 but it was a 2011 and brand new??? I called and asked what gives and was told it had been lost in their whse for 10 years and was new with all the case candy . Then he told me he could do it for $2600 shipped to my door including tax!! Itâs definitely the my favorite guitar Iâve ever owned (and Iâve owned a lot) , same color blue as this but back and neck are blue as well. Some times ya get lucky!
That was a lucky find. Congratulations! I have a 2013 Studio, so it's the same version, and it's my favorite grab-and-go guitar. It'll cover everything and sounds amazing straight into an amp.
Stunning guitar and wonderful playing.
I have a Custom 24, but I have wanted one of these since they were first introduced.
Fantastic guitar. Been eying these for Some time.
What a gorgeous guitar! đ
I had a studo '91 and sold it, seeing this I want it back again..
WhoaâŠthat is an amazing instrument.
Very nice. I want to try one.
Wow Santana tones from an incredible guitarist!! đ đž
Versatile for sure, but still. the only PRS I'm really hankering for is a DGT. They just seem to have a more soulful or less modern vibe.
Me too. Those DGTs are stellar.
I chose a DGT as well. Very versatile and no middle pickup in the way. The model that impressed me most with its tone is the CE 22⊠more snap from the maple neck, very dynamic and responsive pickups, less PRS-type tones, more organic. But the DGTâs got more possibilities and bridges the gap between a Strat and a LP. I prefer Teles anyway đđ
so do i⊠but the early models⊠moon inlays, no fretboardbindingâŠ
I have both. They're different guitars. The DGT is definitely designed to sound like an older guitar because Grissom spec'd the pickups to sound like the PAFs in his ES-335. The Studio is going after a more modern sound but can cover more bases. Neither is better than the other, they're equally great guitars and feel and play wonderfully.
@@8sigreg It's the more modern sound that tends to turn me off PRS personally. The DGTs kind of hang with the sounds I grew up on I suppose.
Lovely video as always, RJ. PRS is an enigma for me: My 594 McCarty is, by some distance, the best built, longest sustaining, most versatile, easy to play and defiantly in-tune guitar I own. Fantastic for recording. Would I keep it over my CS Les Paul? No. Never bonded with it in the way I have with the Lester. So objectively, itâs no contest in one direction, and subjectively itâs the opposite. Gotta love guitars.
Yu
That finish is insane.
Man...superb playing as always and the backing tracks are always on point, Salamat R.J.
Yeah man, which backing track pack on your website is this on?
Great demo RJ. Amazing guitar. Just sucks that (even though I'm known to buy high end guitars, mostly Suhrs), the new guitar market right now is so inflated .This is a $4800 guitar. Ridiculous. Music man, PRS and so many others have such bloated prices right now. It's like the real estate market. LOL.
In your hands that thing sounds amazing.
My first thought - you got a really good sounding amp there, Bud.
Impressive tones. I've always like the looks of the classic designed PRS but am more of a strat guy. This is more attractive than a Silversky.
I think the narrowfields are supposed to act like Gretsch Filtertrons. The humbucker and your playing are outstanding.
They are very well made guitars. Beautiful too. Thanks man. đđđŻđžđž. You can't go wrong with PRS , Schecter , ESP, and other main brand guitars We can never have enough guitars and musical equipment. đđ
That split bridge humbucker on clean sounds a lot like Strat #2 Quack. I was hoping more for of a Tele bridge pickup punch.
I have a PRS Custom 24 (Core-Model). It is a great guitar which does everything for the songs or genres I play so far. However, sometimes I really want that Stratocaster (Single-Coil) tone from it especially the 5 and 4 position tone but cannot.I might purchase a Stratocaster or HSS design guitar for instance, Fender Stratocaster HSS, Schecter Nick Johnston Traditional HSS, Sire Larry Carlton S7 Vintage, and more.
Like the video, keep doing it. Great job!
Fender American pro 2 are excellent playing and sounding strats. I suggest a trial at your local guitar shop.... I also have the strat ultra and love it but prefer the AP2. Good luck!
PRS has soul. Excellent choice.
Great video
Beautiful guitar and great demo, but they have a big flaw in the electronic design, IMO. Splitting the humbucker should be done via a toggle switch. It looked pretty awkward for you when you were splitting it by pulling up on the tone knob. That awkwardness would be amplified in any live situation.
Great Vid. Love that guitar. Question for you; What are your go to Brand - strings and guage ? thanks !
I swear, just watching you noodle makes me a better player!
Beautiful playing! Try the studio with an f hole when you seen one..
They chose the right dude to test ride this beautiful guitar
I'd rather have the PRS Special Semi-Hollow very similar just with more options.
r u streaming tomorrow morning?đwanna see u talk about that GT in more detail now that youâve been playing it all week!
you seen to be trying to describe G&L MFD pups....thicker than single coils....not quite P90s....excellent option.
I have a couple PRS guitars my favorite is the Dustie warring ce24. Iâm planning to get a core model as a retirement gift to myself in a couple years. Torn between this and the semi hollow special 22. I really like studio but for the price the special 22 seems more my jam.
If you can try to find a Special 22 Ltd, it has different pickups than newer production model.
@@mannymejia7972 I didnât know that. Thanks for the tip
can't tell what pops more, the top or the tone!
Why does this one have the 08 split coil switching and the link doesnât? I have a Custom 24-08 and itâs one of my favorite guitars.
7:34 You can never have enough of the '80s!
lmao
Great vid! But the green cable distracts me! Waiting for the headstock to get stuck in it :-) haha
+1 on the DGT. First PRS I was able to bond with. Most recently I've also taken a fondness to the Fiore. Others have mentioned a sterile sound from PRS. Those two axes seemed to have an actual voice that wasn't "too perfect"
Thatâs one of the reasons I canât get with prs. They sound so perfect that theyâre almost acoustic and âboring?â
This myth of sounding sterile makes no senseâŠthere is no such thing as imperfect or perfect sound. Comes from an owner of PRSs, Fenders, and Gibsons. They are all different, serve different purposes and they are all great tools in their own right.
@@TheBlackzat perception is reality my friend đ. Just my experience. Still own, play and love my DGT.
I have a PRS Studio and I love everything about it but the price.
From what song is that intro? @7:40min? Love it..
Nice guitar đđ»
You sure do it justice. :)
holy smoke! what finish is this?
Laddie, ya could make an unamplified tree stump sound good...
What color is that?
I will always have a Strat Style guitar. There simply is no substitute. I will always have T-style for the same reason. I will never get rid of my PRS Studio, ever.
No RJ! NO! We can never have enough of the 80's!
Nice guitar
They need this in an se version.
Very beautiful video! Beautiful top⊠please is it a ten top? What is the name of the Color? Many thanks!
Great demo and playing, as usual. But this guitar doesn't do it all, for me at least. The Suhr Classic hss pro does . Plus stainless frets and 1500 cheaper. Not saying this in not a very good guitar, it is, but seems stuck in the middle of the stat / LP thing.
I'm a huge fan of their Narrowfield buckers, in full humbucking and single coil size. Beautiful tones and versatile. Nice PRS! Nice demo. Ronq N' Roll!
Boring inspired tones with zero balls.
I really hope you keep that one RJâŠ.
hey rj
i have a mccarty 594âŠvery different from the studio but still similar in that almost too perfect PRS kind of way and Iâm wondering how how it feels for you to go from that new relicâd Murphy Lab r57 gt to the slick PRS because Iâve been doing a similar thing with my new R 54 Murphy Lab and then playing my McCarty and seeing if I want to keep mccarty. I canât tell if I like that perfectness or if it feels soulless to me?? i waffle!
Good waffle! I know what you mean and have been through the same thing with 594 and Collectorâs Choice LP.
Think it is the same bridge pick up on both, no?
nice
What song is he playing at 7:39?
Man!!! Your CHORUS!!! Wich one is that???đ
What song is he playing @ 7:39
Geez that hair does look as good as that guitar!
Man i love PRS guitars but the pick ups usually have to go so i would have to make sure i really loved those narrow fields before buying one of these because there are not many replacement options.
Why would you ever replace a PRS pickup? He started out using Seymour Duncan Pickups until he could design his own which are as good or better. People would kill for his 57/08 pickups.
@@flybynight1929 Im not saying they are bad, they are just not for me, i like some PRS pick ups more than others but in general they are not my jam, i feel the same way about most Duncans(i do like antiquities).
I just really love Dimarzio,Bareknuckle and Gibson pick ups!
@@elevenAD totally feel the same way, except for prs #7's, I really don't care for prs pups. Gibson 57 57+, sd Seth lovers, the beautiful jb.... To each his own, but you're tone deaf if you disagree with me!
@@andyleotell Same!
Hi RJ do you know any fuzz that can go from fuzz face type sound (Hendrixâ tones) to big muff tones (frusciante, corgan types of sounds) ?
Regards
I wanna throw the the JHS muffuletta out there. It is 6 different types of fuzz pedals that you switch between. Cheers
I have heard the settings sound all pretty much the same
The narrowfields by themselves sound more like a Tele than a Strat in my opinion
Great review...but I have had one on order from Sweetwater for 9 Months now....PRS seem to want to promote this guitar but can't seem to deliver them. Obviously its hard to get the raw materials in this day and age with Covid, so I am very understanding of the delay...but its a little frustrating when PRS are pushing the product to new potential buyers (like through this video) when one of their biggest outlets (Sweetwater) can't satisfy their demand and has zero stock of all 4 models/colors.
R.J. ..if you can pass this on to Paul I would greatly appreciate it...are they ready to deliver ?...where can we buy this Guitar today ? ...can we even get an ETA on deliveries.
Despite the tone of my post...all is good ..the world has bigger problems than my guitar collection...Love and Kisses
Like you I have looking to where I can see or hopefully play the Studio. I have not placed an order but have been told by dealers it would be about 20 months for delivery. I do understand supply and demand and backlog issues. Its interesting to me that PRS would announce this as a 2021 core model but not be able to supply any (except to You Tube influencers:)
@@tomt6257 ...Mine is finally on its way !đ
Price of this beauty đ€Ș??
Studio or DGT that is the question ?
DGT is the least typical PRS sounding. Itâs got a tele on steroids vibe. A more unique sounding one of the PRS range and weâll respected for it, even by many that donât like PRS. The Studio although a little different is not so far away from many other PRS models with 58/15 variety pickups. The safer blind choice is the DGT because it is a unique signature model. But who knows until you can get them in your own hands đ€đ
I just received a wood library Studio with maple neck & ziricote fretboard. It puts out a full bodied, sweet tone but with plenty of texture. The latter being something I feel is often missing from a PRS guitar. âThe Studio Ratsâ YT channel has a couple of videos reviewing a PRS Studio, perhaps including a DGT comparison. The video mentions that the bridge humbucker is particularly good and I have to agree. So check out the channel if youâre still interested comparing the Studio and DGT models.
It's hard to ask anything more from a guitar
