- Filmed on 02/04/20, this was about 7F. The day before this, it was nearly 50F so the car was driven around a bit, I had to do this again after work when it was 13F. I hate Wisconsin's bi-polar nature (pun intended).
Crazy how much colder the car must get sitting outside compared to inside a garage, considering this was around the same temperature but started twice as fast in the garage.
Any properly maintained engine starts quick in any temperature. What you have there is a total piece of unmaintained shit. Give it to the homeless for a shelter. Save yourself the embarrassment of everyone laughing, pointing, and clapping at you try to start it 🤣🤣🤣
Love hearing the engine cranking! She wants to start but she struggles! ❤️ ❤️ My favorite part of cold starts ❤️
Absolutely!
Thats the joy of old cars.
Runs beautifully for as old as it is. My uncle had one of those when I was a kid
mmmm I love all the cranking and struggling. nice video
Thank you for this video, just love the old sound of these classic 60s 70s and 80s cars man. For some reason I thought that was a V8 but nothing wrong with V6s
I think its an inline 6.
Great exhaust sound and struggle ... I'd love to have an old car so old to play with its flooded, shaking and fuel-splashing engine on a cold morning 💓 ... appreciate old cars and their character, there won't be any more ...😔
My Mom car Camaro used to shake when I started it up specially when it was hard to start which it always was hard to start
My aunt had one of these cars, same thing in the winter, two cigarettes, non stop pumping, and alot of cuss words, but she would always keep at it and she would get it started. One thing is she never flooded it, came close, but she managed never to flood it.
I love how gentle you are with your starter motor.
I love this old car♥️♥️♥️ Please make more videos of it soon!!♥️♥️♥️
i sooo love the way this car sounds struggling to start..., its so sexy....
Out of curiosity, what is you pfp, and how do you have 90k+ subs with no videos?
Back in the 70s in winter this is how all cars started
Yes carburetor! My 1985 is same but it's less colder in California. But still needs to warm up 2 to 3 minutes before drive. Or will stall once it gets that 30 seconds open headers warm up. I just wait until it warms up then start and go.
Love the cranking sound
I agree David!
with how much she was spittin and sputtering at the beginning, i knew you'd get it started with enough pumpin and crankin.
I gtg bubblegumbvbbjjbbjjjjjbbjbbbjnbjnjbjn no
The struggles of a cold start I remeber my 72 mustang convertiable with a. 351 clvd would be like this on super cold days
Would love to see a cold start of your car from inside... so cool to see the full procedure
If you check out my other video on the channel I actually filmed from the inside, and put a comment on my usual procedure. Thanks for the comment!
That car is cursed and jinxed and hexed to not want to start at all
Did you wear old Sneakers i Love your pumping and cranking 🤩
Omg that would have smell great unburnt fuel smell. Love it. I wanna smell the exhaust smoke
@Cam Ulvick one if the best smell
sounds just like the one I had -- from 73 to 1985.
Are there Creedence Tapes in it, and a briefcase in the trunk full of ah... business papers... Asking for a friend.
I love the struggle.
Hi
K.. I cant bear to not say it 😑 but sounds like fast idle not rigged right which is supposed to hold the choke partially shut on startup. You gotta push pedal all way down once to set it and crank. Mashing on the accelerator before each crank only tosses in tiny squirts of gas hence why it takes an eternity for it to fire up in the cold. When the fast idle is set up right, it will rev up high on first crank (usually) After it warms up, the fast idle cam will fall off and then idle normally.
Wow must have smell great
Pityful...is this an ad for a 2dr Chevrolet?..If so, it works..LMAO
🗿
I miss the days when we used to talk to your car please girl, you can do it come on baby 🤣 best sounds ever, sadly I own I Modern piece of crap now or a computer bleep bleep all that stuff 🥴
Now. That's. A. Real. Cold. Start
What a bomb.
My gf use to rev up her old buick hard in the winter months too
You loved that didn’t you
@@ericthesoldier my dck use to literally swell up and erect and cum in my pants especially in the winter when she would really rev the daylights out of the engine in boots and stockings
@@amitamir1413 lol
@@ericthesoldier she use to have to rev the engine hard in the morning in heels and stockings in the winter mercilessly punishing the engine and making it scream for mercy as her foot held the gas pedal down
Cuándo el motor está frío tarda en encender; porqué las Revoluciones Por Minuto están muy bajas no se le activa el cebador; hay qué acelerarlo; porqué no le llega gasolina al carburador; saludos.
what a sexy sound. i would like to think you were wearing something showing lots of legs behind the wheel as you struggled to start it............ hehe
Very nice car man, I am looking at buying a 73 Gran Torino, it needs work and has been sitting for 3 years and hasn't been started.. could you give me some ideas on what to look for and what I should do? basically any tips that can help me out Thanks!
Hey! I know this is a month late, i just remembered this channel existed... Anyways, one thing to know about these Torinos is that they rust, really easily. I think they had the worst rust issues of any 70s boat. If you can find one clean enough, there is plenty of space in the engine bay and under the car to work on them; 73 was the last year before emissions kicked in so its as simple as engines can get. I hope that helps!
If that's a 6-cylinder that must be a real slug on the highway trying to get that thing out in the traffic lol even back in the day when it was new
0-60 was apparently 18 seconds when new, so you can interpret what it might be now lol
@@at_73grantorino lol no doubt
Back then that was probably one of those granny grocery getters never went anywhere outside of town let alone on a freeway probably all 35 miles an hour zones
At that point I might as well ride my bicycle
how can inte have so hard time starting in 10 C my old volvo starts after 2 cranks in - 25 C
My carb doesn't have a choke, it's missing. Which is why it also gets such poor gas mileage, I plan to replace the whole carb eventually but it's not very high on my todo list since it works
@@at_73grantorino well. It's been a year now. Did you ever get it replaced?
@@SmokyPizza6853 I did not, I actually purchased a 351w to throw in it next summer, the inline 6 is getting pretty tired at this point and now only starts off of carb cleaner
Has she got soft vinyl seats?
Shes got very tore up seats... I wish it were vinyl! Its a very rough scratchy material that isnt good on the skin when you are soaked in sweat during the summer lol

It was flooded for a long time. If its this cold the choke will take over and all you have to do is turn the key. In case ppl don't know this you are only supposed to crank 3 to 5 seconds then stop. You never overheat the starter by just keep on cranking. It ruins the brushes and God Forbid the armature, you don't want that.
I cannot find consistent input from anybody regarding how long to use a starter motor. (Which is fine because I test them and rebuild them so I find out this info myself.)
General consensus is no longer than 15 seconds of continual use for the average driver, 30 seconds maximum such as when doing a starter draw test or circulating engine oil flow to supercharger etc. (However with today's efi engines, your input is more accurate because usually cranking longer than 5 seconds isn't going to significantly increase the likelihood of an efi engine to start.)
Opinions on wait time in-between each crank is even more varied. But I have found that you should pause for a minimum of either 5 seconds, or however long you cranked for. (crank for 10 seconds, pause for 10 seconds, etc) Once you have used your starter for a total of 60 seconds in a 2 minute span, you should wait at least 10 minutes for the internal wiring to cool down before trying again.
It is a single barrel carb, feeding gasoline into a tired out oil burning 50hp 140,000 mile 250ci inline 6. I don't think you are understanding that it is not the 70's anymore. This car is turning 50 years old this year, it takes a bit to get going. This is not a $60,000 restoration car, this is a $1500 4 door grandma sedan i purchased from a guys yard. But guess what, it starts in the end, yeah? Clearly it doesn't matter - same starter, 3 years later. Thanks for the tip, but I think i will continue to start, drive, and maintain the classic cars I own the way i choose.
Ford Fairlane del 1973; el motor está frío y tarda en encender ah caray; no puede ser; las revoluciones no funcionan hay que acelerarlo; ese carro merece ser restaurado; saludos.
That car is quadruple dog cursed to not want to start at all
I appreciate the commitment to these curses, see you in 2025 🫡

Definitely needs some choke work.
If that was my car I’d pound on the gas and rev it to max holding that gas pedal to the floor for five minutes and press it 20 times till it wakes up. Just kidding I wouldn’t but I’d give it lots of gas.
Why is it not wanting to start
He or she is not pumping the gas pedal enough
Ok

What is this engine name..
250ci inline 6
I'm glad you're not my neighbor! 🤢
Oh I’d personally come to your drive way and rev it up lmaooo

When r u gonna upload a new video of the torino???
🤔🤔🤔🤔 She's got some brake issues at the moment, but I plan to get her stored in a nice environment i can work on her more freely. Maybe i can squeeze some content in there. Sorry for the late reply!

Car stall out and don’t start at all
No pumping it no priming it no choke that’s cheating on cold start start it no pumping no priming no choke

m8 play with ya toes
You are supposed to crank over the engine until it fires & not keep cranking it for very short periods! It will not hurt the starter motor at all as they are designed for it!
Were you using the choke when you first started it? Doesn't sound like you did & pumping the throttle like you did just compounded the problem by flooding the engine & then you just had to rev the nuts out of the engine which would have done it a world of good, NOT!!
I think you need lessons how to start a car with a carb my friend!
Hey! late reply, the carburetor is junk on this car, the choke was removed at some point and it really doesnt stay alive unless you dump gas into it by revving it, especially in the cold months. The starter was finnicky at this point and would often stick, so thats why i would try to let off in case it did finally fire off. She's a basketcase that needs special instructions, but she gets going eventually!
I curse it and jinx it to never start ever
Unfortunately shes still starting, looks like it didnt work 😔
@@at_73grantorino ok
Your gonna wear the shit out of your starter motor
No it's a motorcraft they're made for that shit LOL
It would take years of this happening all the time for it to wear out the motor component of the starter.
Only joking
You are technically not wrong, lol
Come on ol girl start
