As a kid I always thought Ozzy was just so happy on stage, now I've come to realize he probably didn't know he was on stage half of the time he was on.
He loved too eat bats wtf dude probably started corona virus
Now you know why he’s happy
I think at some points in his life the stage was the only place he was happy even though he was drugged out of his mind he truly loves the music

It isn’t the song, just the riff
Hearing Smoke on the water after Master of Puppets really puts things into perspective.....
But no one can deny that Smoke On The Water is THE essential riff of all time, who really cares if their not really metal, close enough.
Smoke on the water is a great riff because it is so memorable but I'd definitely agree that master of puppets is a much better metal riff.
@Dafyd Maddz hammet wrote like 5 percent of the riffs you goose
@Dafyd Maddz well considering this is a list about riffs, most of them fall on hetfield rather than hammet. He's pretty much just a soloist rather than a riff maker
@Dafyd Maddz ofc deep purple is great and inspired Metallica (Metallica mentioned them in their rock and roll hall of fame speech) but the comparison didn't make sense to me bc the context of the video is riffs which hammet is barely responsible for.

To be fair, Black Sabbath/Ozzy/Dio deserve every spot they have on this list, you could add more even. But if you take into consideration that they are the top 15 basically, my #1 would be Raining blood for sure. Jeff Hanneman was a beast for creating crazy riffs.
I think the thrash scene have some of the best riffs, but to be fair I think in 20 years if we re-do a top 15, 30 or 50 of best metal riffs of all time, Melodic Death Metal will occupy a very large portion of that list. That genre is pushing the limits of guitar playing year after year lately
Too bad 'pushing the limits' isn't synonymous with 'sounds good'.

Megadeth - Symphony of a Destruction
Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast/Hallowed be thy Name/Run to the Hills
