- Want to see how architect Paul Reber brings a festive spirit to his studio apartment, located inside an old converted schoolhouse in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn? ✨🎄
Each year Paul decorates for the holidays in a unique way that embraces the eclectic style of his home, including sprucing the place up with burgundy accents and mercury glass (to match his light pendants), and turning the garland on his spiral staircase into a next-level Christmas tree with its mermen ornaments and little flashing dragonflies. (And if you hear chirping in the background, those are the cage-free zebra finches that he affectionally refers to as his “chickens”. 💛)

I appreciate all the nice comments. Thank you!
We need MORE -- the kitchen area & bathroom please!
This is a home you will never get bored living in. Beautiful!
Wow... what a unique and intriguing space. He definitely has a style all his own, and I love it! The dark walls and that amazing staircase! Love all the crystal balls and ruby glass and artwork. OK.... I love it all! Plus his apparel and beard would turn anyone's head!
thank you! Glad you enjoyed your visit into my little world.
A nice apartment. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the bird flying was bird poop.
Same thoughts
They're constipated
OK "Miss Potty Mouth" your supposed to think it but not say it. Proper Etiquette is to never speak of such things! bringing up poop is not very lady like. They are tiny birds and tiny poops and they mostly stay in the branches where it is covered below. They do not poop when they fly. They have never pooped on my desk or the sofa or chairs and they never fly into the bedroom, kitchen or bathroom. Once in a while they fly to the staircase or the window to look out and if they hang out there all day they may leave me a present! People with children or pets or husbands just learn to clean up after them. I would not recommend putting them in cages! The chickens are surprisingly clean. They prune their feathers and each other's every morning, it is like a little hair salon. I keep a bowl of water out and they bathe a lot. I am not recommending other people have un-caged birds. I was given a pair of finches in a cage as a Valentine's day gift back in 1986. giving them back is not an option. Keeping them locked up in a cage felt unfair and they had kids so I emancipated the entire family back in 1992. They are very happy and healthy now! If cleaning up a tiny poop now and then is the price of their freedom they will remain free.
Same thinking! 🫣😂
What a beautiful tour. Such a gorgeous apartment.
thank you, glad you liked my crazy home lol
Once you allow yourself the freedom to surround yourself with the things that make you happy it becomes a palace of the mind. You have a beautiful mind.
Thank you!
His place is stunning. Great selection of decor items.
thank you!
this is so much fun! feels like a holiday hug
Chickens! 😂 I’ve always loved zebra finch. Lovely place!! 🎉
I was given a pair back in 1986 as a Valantine's day gift. I am so glad I was not given anything bigger lol

The most breathtaking apartment I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing
Magical! Thank you for sharing. And “The Finch Sisters”! I feel like there is a story there!
Love it so much!!!❤❤❤❤
Love this!
YOURS APPARTMENT IS LIKE A FAIRY TALE! !! IS YOURS STAIRCASE CRISTMAS DECORATED ALL YEAR???Why not...Anyway it is very beautiful! !
thank you! last year after I took it all down it was a bit sad and the stair railing seamed too naked lol. I separated out the light green clematis vines from the evergreen and white berries and mixed in the little led lights to make a garland for the railing that could be there the rest of the year. 😄
I love his picture frames very different and unique
thank you, there are two styles of silver leaf frames that one can get from custom framing shops. The little black frames on the family photo wall are from the early 90's and they were purchased at a store but I went to get a few more several years later and they were discontinued. 😞 Two of my large still-life paintings have gray profile frames that I made myself from picture frame molding I got at a lumber yard. I painted them to match the walls. I like the frames matching the wall and being just about the shadows.
This makes me so happy, I just want to move in!! I'd love to see more of the other areas of the studio, like the kitchen/outdoor. It's all so dreamy, love, love, love.
thank you! the kitchen and bathroom are rather simple. there are some merman in the bathroom lol
Beautiful apartment!!! Thank you so much for not caging the birds!
thank you for appreciating that I don't lock them up. They have not broken any laws so they deserve to be free. They are good little chickens!
An amazing space...so very interesting...I love it...
thank you!
Good to know I’m not the only ones whose obsessed with crystal balls. I love the birds too.
This is a dream space.
I like his style. I too love burgundy, and angels as a motif. I keep many of my items out all year. The Edwardian vibe to the place is right on point for me. I'd be interested to see his building designs. So many modern places are blah, and leave me disappointed.
Just beautiful !!!!!!
And the Apartment is to !
😘
WOW!!.. Absolutely stunning!!!
Boy that man is handsome! lovely apartment!
Wow I love it all. So joyful
Мистический дом ! Завораживает !!!

Love the birds🎉and they do poop just clean it up 😊
thanks! Yup!
Your apartment is beautiful
Love the December Diamonds.
Me too lol. I have three mermen that hang in the bathroom when not part of the holiday decor. I should find a forever home for the four fairies......sounds like a gay sitcom. lol but it seems wrong putting fairies back in the closet! 😄
@@reberdesign Love your apartment and video, thanks for sharing. Fairies should never be in the closet. Our merment live in a box!
dreamy!
I love his place and I rarely say that on shows such as this. 🧚♀
The finches were a plus. So adorable! 🧚♀
thank you! the chickens say hi lol @@dissidentfairy4264
Dude: marry me ❤. Your place is genius!
You get a big hug for sure and maybe lol Thank you, Paul
Love the apartment. Every time i see a bird in a cage i feel bad for it
Ummmmm. No cage? • Other than that - WOWZA! What a beautiful and unique space. I’d love a longer tour. Maybe an in depth revisit post-holidays.
I’d like to know the paint color of the walls.

@@reberdesign Thank you!!
Where do the birds poop if they are not in cages?
really? cages are like jail and they are good chickens. They poop and I clean it up. I am not sure why people are so confused or have to ask. It is really no big deal.
@@reberdesign I ask for a neighbor had two large tropical parrots and they poopled all over the place wherever they perched they pooped and they did not clean up after thkemselves.
Completely different, it is like comparing a mouse to an elephant. lol maybe not that drastic. I would never have birds larger then a little finch. I was given a pair of finch on valentines day back in 1986. when you have to care for a living thing you do what you must to take care of them. After some years it was eating away at me that they were stuck in a cage and unable to even fly. sorry if my response was a bit snippy. I was taught Victorian etiquette and it appears "couth, good manners, sophistication and politeness" are only normal to me these days. In mixed company one should hold ones tongue and not speak of certain things and "poop" is obviously high on the list. I understand it is something that would cross many peoples minds seeing birds uncaged but that does not mean that thought should travel down to ones fingers and get typed out in a comment. It just pulls focus to a place a conversation should not go so I find it offensive.
@@reberdesign small parakeets there cages have to be cleaned - they don't clena up the poop themselves.
Where does he keep all thar stuff 😅😂
shoved in the back of a closet lol
Kitchen????? Bath?????? 🤔
Wait a second, are the birds are shitting all over the apartment? I wonder how his place is smelling, he probably can't open the windows.
But don't the birds shit all over your apt.?
Birds do really soupy poop! Kinda of gross space
