Unless you are staying on well made trails the multi part sole moldings on some of the boots (indicated by different coloured) sections)mentioned here are best avoided as this introduces weakness and can lead to failure
I actually prefer Garmont for serious mountain hiking and mountaineering - that said, fitting your feet is key regardless of brand reputation, technical advances, etc. If a highly technical, not at all technical, or anything in between doesn’t comfortably fit your feet, it’s not a good hiking boot for you!
Meindl, Alico, Alpine, Salewa, Lowa Tibet, La Sportiva, Hangwa, Zamberlan,(all from Europe) are all great boots to do serious mountain hiking and you are quite right if it does not fit properly no matter the brand you will never enjoy your hiking trips. I have Hangwa, Lowa, La Sportiva, Asolo, Sorel, Scarpa and Diemme and I love them all, although some of them had a big breaking period did not like that too much, they tend to be sturdier and rigid all made of leather also. I also have Salomon 4D GTX, Vasque, Merrell, Keen, Danner, Oboz (but they are not really hiking boots per say) those are the softer ones pretty much no breaking period, so I know my shoe size pretty good and I know what to do if the boot is big (I buy one size up in the winter so I can add some socks and insoles in the boot).
Lowa is the best hiking boots for our hiking group, and now sold out everywhere.
Alfa walk king, the best one!
I feel like these haven’t been tested and just read from specifications since there’s no vids for each type showing use unless taken from another video lol
Nice ❤️
Definitely dispute your #10 choice. Had 3 pair in 6 months fall apart. The sole came off each time. REI claims that for a bit the Targhee III was their #1 returned boot for defects.
Fact
I'll stick with my Oboz low and mids... solid platform & arch support, which is something that Keens doesn't do much anymore. And Merrels don't hold up very long
My record for a pair of Merell Moabs is less than three weeks. Been through two pairs of keens in two years, soles wear out on both too quickly and Merrill’s just fall apart.Still looking for that perfect boot. Are oboz a wide boot ?
@@Happy-jk6qh you can have them wide or narrow just make sure you pay attention when your shop for the boot, I have two pairs and damn it they are sturdy and solid. But I also have Merrell Moab, Lowa Renegade (also very sturdy), Salomon Quest, Keen, Asolo, Sorel (solid), Vasque, Danner, Diemme, La Sportiva, Oboz Sawtooth, I like hiking boots and shoes.
@@labellaescrima1996 thank you
What are the boots in the thumbnail for this video...?
I actually found Under armour valsetz to be a good budget hiking boot. Took them to Everest base camp and they held up well.
thanks for sharing
Thanks
I bought a vasque boot and the sole came apart. The change was made, but the sole was also separated in the same way.
I bought the boy a knife, but he absorbed the water like a sponge . I bought merrel moab 20 years ago and it was very good. but i bought it 8 years ago it was so bad. Salomon Quest 4D was very good. The fabric held up well, but the sole wore off quickly.
I've seen in other people that the north face and Colombia are fragile.
I think European brands are better in this regard.
I agree with you
I'd sure like to talk to someone who hiked the entire PCT/CDT in boots like Danner Mtn Lights or Salomon boots.
I have the Lowa Renegade GTX mids, the toe box in one boot is too tight and has never been comfortable. I question why your video describes the liner material
in some boots but, not the others. Your review seems incomplete.
Sorry to hear that. Thanks for the feedback
What a poor review on hiking boots. This guy can certainly read from a script and sounds like a shoe/boot salesman. I would of liked the boots to go through essential tests like through water, mud. Up scree. Down hills. Offer Pro’s & Con on a specific boot. I do enjoy reviews that put the boot through the ‘ringer’.
You wonder whether they get paid by the manufacturers. At the very least boots need to be broken into hiking, backpacking and winter categories. Not to mention terrain appropriateness.
Nothing about arch support, metatarsil padding (EVA vs. Polyurethane, insoles), arch support, toe width or durability. Eye candy for non-hikers.
Haha I just said this pretty much!
would have, would have...
I liked Timberland
I will stick with my Zamberlans.
The keen boots are far to heavy for my liking, The Murrell boots tread pattern is all wrong when walking on mud!! Adding extra weight!!
Salomon elios gtx 3 n1
I love Merrell shoes. Very durable.
Thanks for sharing your experience
Salewa are the best of the best. Not even in his list lol. Built quality is out of thos world .
Hi i am sri lanka Can i buy this boots
MEINDL THE BEST!!!!
thanks for the review... but to be honest, to understand what he is talking, i needed subtitles. would be good idea to improve the pronunciation for the sake of the channel
Thanks for you feedback and suggestion. Working on it. Stay connected
Salomon x ultra 4 ? )))
Ecco boots is best.
Anyone know brands that are actually built well and to last?
I have a pair of Scarpa walking boots that are around 28 years old, re-soled 3 times with a Vibram sole, but apart from that, still going strong.
@@markrichmond4796 so the old way they're built is great, hopefully the company still makes good boots. I'ma look into this brand. Ty!
@@joejojo5966 Full leather, as long as you look after them they are awesome. I had orthotic insoles made after about 7 or 8 years, but apart from the wear of the soles….unbelievable.
My Mountain Designs Goretex jacket is of similar vintage, just needs the seams re-taped this year. Good quality, well made gear, should last. Even if it’s more expensive at first. I paid around $200 for my boots and about $130 for my jacket….not the cheapest at the time, but I’m sure you’ll agree, value for money in the long term.
Any "Top 10 best boots" list that contains Keen, Columbia and TNF is not to be taken seriously
Columbia make some good shoes and boots, dipshit.
@@peterzebot9863 no, they're actually mediocre in build and performance but i guess that's a persoanl opinion
@@DonnyDump your Mommy must be proud of your bravery as you hide behind the Internet. Tough wittle boy aren’t you ?
I turned this off after about 30 seconds. The narrator sounds like a bot.
Why are you making your video in English, you are French do you make videos in your own language, just asking. Again great information and inputs well done mate!
Where is Scarpa?
Where is Mammut?
Where is Meindl?
Where is Salewa?
these are European products
@@DenisSijanski Asolo and La Sportiva are also European products
@@DenisSijanski Salamon is also European it's French. Also it doesn't say 'Best Hiking Boots From North American Companies'
The Scarpas are on my feet 👌🏼
@@DenisSijanski So are Lowa
old time Merrell hiking boots were good, not anymore.
саломон крутые ботинки.
Gor-tex is not a good idea for shoes, it makes your feet too hot, and your feet are probably going to get wet anyway, not worth the added expense
These are not serious hiking boots but more like flashy fashion statements that you can take on a park stroll. If the upper leather is missing that it’s not a great hiking boot. Mesh and PU and other synthetic uppers are a fad…
Just because you are hiking doesn't mean you can't look fashionable 😉. Thanks for commenting! Stay tuned for more!
Those are not hiking boots may be glorified tennis shoes
keen should reverse engineer and actually go back to the old Targhees.. the new ones suck, 4 previous pairs of the old ones, one new returned pair.....
yeah, maybe they should
Merrell 2???? SALOMON 1 !??!?!?!?
fake top!
these shoes are of very poor quality!
Merrell is somewhat debatable, but you're smoking dicks if you think Salomon is of "very poor quality."
Hell, even Merrell, they're not even of "poor quality;" they're just really inexpensive.
@@EDVERSiTY price or quality, clown?))
Merrell is a lot of marriage.
Salomon is the best ?!
probably not...
@@EDVERSiTY lmao, “smoking dicks”
Sounds like you are basically reading their promotional materials. Not very helpful
Y'all couldn't find a guy who speaks ENGLISH ?!
To bad ya can't understand a word he says.
Possibly the worst English narration audio I’ve ever heard on any video.
Trash review! How you can talk about you not use and tested ?
Who is paying to get these terrible opinions of what's best? Most of the boots recommended here are crap.
