    Recently I just started taking collagen gummies and was so shocked that about 10 days later I suddenly noticed that my dry, wirey hair (that I thought was from menopause) was suddenly much softer and smoother!!! Now I love just touching my hair! 😂 I never thought the texture/dryness would change! I’m so amazed!

    When you get your routine annual blood test, they should test for nutritional deficiencies. If you're not deficient, don't waste your money on expensive nutritional hair supplements like Nutrafol. It's likely that your hair loss is hereditary and/or androgenetic (too much DHT testosterone as a result of menopause). In that case, you should use DHT blockers.
    People who prefer natural products shy away from minoxidil, but it was prescribed to me by a renown hair doctor at UCLA. She told me that it's OK to use the 5% liquid, even though the instructions say it's for men - because that's just a marketing ploy. She said 5% is fine for women. Well that stuff is a bit irritating (probably from the propylene glycol that's in it), but it works. Within a few months of topical use, the hair at my temples grew in. I'm so happy, but I do have to use it every day, or the hair loss will return.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for sharing your experience Audrey. I agree, annual blood tests should tes for nutritional deficiencies. Often if you ask your doctor they will test a good few markers that can be helpful.

    Hi Eileen are you able to offer any advice on hair colouring? , as I've got to my mid forties I felt I should come away from permanent colours ,believing semi perms to be gentler . I'm not ready to embrace my grey just yet but I want to look after my hair.I have been using Clairol natural instincts a box dye, which is marketed as more natural , however I know it still contains chemicals and ppd.The last two times I've had my hairdresser colour it with a permanent dye which doesn't contain ppd but I'm not sure whether semi perm box colour is the best way . I'm noticing my scalp more a little at the front and I don't know if it's the perm dye causing it or the fact that I've been through copious amounts of stress over many years . Please can you help in trying to go do the right thing with my diet but hair dye is the main chemical I use and I'm unsure what to do for best ??? Thank you 😃

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Hi Nicola
      There are a number of companies that do natural hair dyes that are effective. If you're in the UK or Ireland you could try Naturtint, Tints of Nature or GentleHairDye, H&B in the UK also do a natural one so quite a few to choose from.
      Protein is really important for healthy hair so make sure that you are getting some in every meal along with a varied diet to give you all the nutrients your hair needs. You can also take a hair formula supplement - you can get these from health shops and remember to drink lots of lain water as dehydration can affect hair growth. Yes, stress can be a big factor too! Maybe also ask your doctor to test your thyroid, iron levels, and vitamin D and B12 as issues with any of these can cause hair loss as well.

    • @AvogelCoUk
      @AvogelCoUk  Před 11 měsíci +3

      @@alliebahbah7139 it is known that falling oestrogen can affect the hair follicle shape which can then result in thinner hair. It is much better to improve hair by what you eat rather than putting something on so just make sure that you're getting plenty of protein every day, maybe even take a protein powder shake and add in a specific hair supplement.

    I’m approaching 50 and for a couple years now the parting in my hair has gone noticeably wider. This video explains a lot. I’m not vain but would not like to be bald either. Being a vegetarian I guess I’ll need to start looking into plant based protein powders and add B vitamins and iron to my diet. If there are any tried and tested shampoos and conditioners that’ve helped others please let me know. I currently use Pantene. This issue does affect my self confidence and people are not kind sometimes when they comment on my hair.

      Hi
      I would also recommend a supplement called MSM, this can be very good for hair growth and preventing thinning, you can get this from health shops. I don't know of any natural shampoos that would help to thicken hair but I have seen adverts for Plantar 39 ( I think) that seems to be popular. And, yes, plenty of protein as well
      You may also find doing a good scalp massage every night can be of benefit, just to improve circulation in the scalp. You should be able to find instructions on CZcams

    Please remember, no over the counter topical products can stop hair loss or "re-grow" hair. It can help keep hair supple to prevent breakage only. Dont waste your money on products that claims it can grow your hair.
    To stop hair loss from the roots/scalp, its got to come from within. Diet, the proper vitamins and even blood circulation, etc.
    However!! You can use products to help slow or prevent breakage. Like oils and conditioners.
    Its very helpful to use hair oils on your hair to keep your hair supple and moisturized to keep it from breaking. When your hair is still damp, apply the oil from the mid-shaft down. I love Rehab Hair oil 1.0.
    Also always use a heat protectant before applying heat to your hair!
    Also, also, have a nice thick hair mask in your shower. Use it each time you shower after you wash and condition. It will really help keep the integrity of your hair and prevent dried ends that will break off. I love Eva NYC.
    You can also get a satin pillowcase. Silk pillowcases are good too but they cost 10 times more than satin and are much harder to care for.
    And be very careful with home and natural remedies! Unless blended correctly and used correctly they can cause more damage.
    Products with protein should be avoided because over usage cause hair to become very brittle all over and not just your ends. Its gotta be used in cycles, its best to avoid it and just have it done professionally if they recommend it.
    If you get your hair lightened in any way that is opening and lifting the cuticle of your hair and that itself is creating damage. No matter how much you condition, the bleaching process can only be grown out for the hair shaft to be full "healthy" again.
    At the end of it all, Its just hair. We identify so much with it as women and theres nothing wrong with that but remember, *you are beautiful from within* . Your heart, soul, charisma, talents, interests, dreams,... thats what makes you beautiful. ❤
