I have had these speakers in my vehicle for a few weeks now and have broken them in nicely. To say that I am impressed is an understatement.
I tested them against other top end speakers in the focal range - the flax evo series and the K2.
I felt that the slatefiber outperformed the flax in the top end. The flax sound is more organic and for acoustic music the sound was very rich and detailed. However for more dynamic music the slatefiber excelled in the highs, with much more punctuated detail without sounding too bright. The mid bass in both were on par and I couldn’t tell much difference. The K2s are in a league of their own but the price reflects that.
I would highly recommend amplifying them separately from the head unit. That’s when they really come to life. I am blown away by how these speakers perform. It’s crisp, punchy and so well balanced.
For the price I don’t think there’s a lot out there that can beat them. Focal have once again proven that they are pioneers in their field and this new slatefiber design is a true credit to their sound engineering. If you’re on the fence about this new series, don’t be. Life’s too short for bad quality music. Treat your ears, build a good system and thank yourself later.

These are brighter and have more mid bass, the Flax series are more expensive but are "in my opinion" inferior.

@@Guydude79 thanks for your opinion on these. I’ve been wondering for so long. I have the flax 3-ways for reference and I really like them. As of right now I was considering on upgrading to the K2 power 3-ways but they are REALLY expensive:(
