The cost of living has killed the car audio scene. the internet has made people savvy to finance and interest, its not a priority these days. Ulez also killed the cheaper end of the market. also who wants to ruin the interior of these nice newer cars with 10 speakers in the doors?

Only reason I swapped my alpine type r 12 for a 8 inch Audison is because about a year ago i started getting headaches from bass

One of my favourite colour for the X1. Looks like a fun daily driver but it's just too expensive with some options.

I remember good old Longmill Amps. I believe they were based around Wembley somewhere. I was very much into JBL amps and speakers as they were cost effective as I progressed. In terms of head unit, it was either Pioneer or Kenwood for me. You did however sell me a fantastic Panasonic at your TCR store. Top spec with 6x RCA, MP3 etc. I still dabble with car audio now, just not as much as before. I moved to Southend back in 2003 just for the scene.

It puts a smile on my face to see in the comments that all the old heads still have the car audio bug in them, me included. I must say the reason why a lot of the modifying scene died abruptly was when people realised they just werent getting their money back from all the money they invested in their cars and just to settle for the upgraded factory fitted systems. Just accept that its only for personal pleasure and enjoy it!

Still a low sub sound.. and then as it gets closer the crispy trebles is a attention grabber.. not bang and pop pop pop at 50mph.. low, slow and heavy..

Yeap times have changed.. where your first priority was a sound system.. now it’s suspension and rims.. then body kit or a wrap.. Still nod in respect when I hear deep deep sound from a car very rare now.. I had 2 15” rockfords in my 900 turbo 😂🎉 Good times!

I will always have a system in my vehicles. It’s just nice to have. My home system is also superb too.

As I understood jack-adapter for remote control from steering wheel is not included in kit? Or I'm wrong?

Had Alpine 7618r pull out component head unit and Cd changer x2 Infiniti Kappa 6x9 3 ways mounted on a rear, stealth shelf Alpine amp running front stage components and a Rockford Fosgate Punch 40 ix running rear in my Atlas Grey Mk2 Golf GTI 16v lowered on spax adjustables rolling on 17" Azev A, Remus exhaust and full black leather with factory rear headrests. Protected by a Clifford Concept 50 with proximity sensor and air horns! Also had a Rockford Fosgate Punch 100 a d Punch series 12" sub but never installed. 90s R&B and hip hop was the flavour with some reggae. Saturday night cruise with mates and cousins all with Golfs, Nova GSIs or Escort RS usually hit the A406 North Circular to Park Royal Zeniths night club😂 Chelsea Cruise, GTI International and Southend. Knew Hiten Patel who would join us even though he was part of westside and we're eastside lads... Good times and memories. Later had a 97 Golf Vr6 bought a Kenwood single din motorised screen dvd player from Raj in early 00's at his Tottenham Court Road shop considering it cost over £1400 at the time and i was going to carry this big effing box on the underground, Raj kindly took pity on me and securely wrapped it in a black bag and brown tape.

Car audio is definitely alive and kicking, I have a £10,000 sound quality audio system in my show car standard mk4 golf gti. It was installed and turned by Peter steinbacher of pssound ,and has been featured on his CZcams channel. It's still not finished 😅, high end sq audio is so addictive ❤.

Remember being 17/18 having different setups every few weeks/months. Being paid £4 an hour at that age, it was cheaper to buy ICE compared to performance parts etc. I'm 36 now and have two sons and I'm trying to get my boys into audio too. I would love to have another audio setup in the near future.

SPL comp is the extreme sport of car audio. Not everyone’s thing. Most just want to play their music and sound better. Morel guy myself, but I understand the draw of SPL.

I drove down to Earl’s Court SPL comps back in the 1990’s with my 2 twelves banging all the way there and back, mate I could still hear the bass thumping in my head for days later

Kicker subs!

The electrical systems such as can-bus in modern cars have made DIY systems almost impossible to fit. This module speaks to that module etc etc it’s not as simple as a negative and positive system from 30 years ago. Plus as you said, standard kit is excellent. I have the midrange BMW HiFi system in my car. A 12 speaker system with a sub under each seat. It sounds unbelievable, as good as my Alpine HU, Phoenix Gold M50 amp and Infinity speaker system I had back in the day. 😮 Is Kicker the brand you’re bringing back?

I've gone from big bass 2×12s to 1 12 and a 3 way active front. I just don't feel the need to "show off" the way I did. I am 50 though.

Still love the Bass! Back in the day I was running Longmill, Big Purple MOSFET amps, Bazookas, Cerwin Vega and Pioneer Head Units. Still loyal to Pioneer head units these days in my classics.

I appreciate a good car system. Most of my previous cars had systems in them (90's to 2000's), but now that I have moved onto Porsches I have kept them stock. I'm also from the era of Alpine decks, Nakamichi, Rockford Fosgate, JBL...I clearly remember the day when the "face out" released! No more lugging around a 60lb radio, haha! The face out changed the game. What a time lol

Car's nowadays are all about the tech as you say since you have one giant screen in the middle of the car which you can't rip out and put a stereo in. I think the old school cars are still going to be upgradable as you can get the retro headunits which can do all the latest and greatest stuff. Weirdly today I heard a bass head today when I was at work and thought I remember those days, just the sense of the air being pushed around like a mini earthquake LOL....... talking of which anyone remember Earthquake subs? 😂 Now I have a 640D which has a decent stock system but just changing the underseat subs will hopefully cure the itch otherwise I'm taking my 13W6V2 out of the loft 🤣 I think you should be some sort of bass EV car so people can see that it can be done........thumbs up for a BASS MEET 🔊🔊

I think you are right about the trend is coming back, a lot of the guys that are now having a Sunday cars are buying the retro era car which means that speakers and head units are coming back.

I'd agree the golf has invigorated me to get on board with some bass again. Definitely takes me back to the max power era walking around the nec with bass rumbling the whole place and you had to shout if you wanted to talk to people.lets not forget the 32 inch kenwood tornado in the honda

Every single car I have ever owned , I have always ended up upgrading my audio and adding a sub. The amps have also become a lot more efficient and with the addition of DSPs have basically made car audios sound so much better

Raj and Parm... great interview and wow can't believe you took me back to the 90s TDK SA90 and SA-X, MA90s defo go to cassettes... also remembering the pull outs, flip down, masks etc..... Also remember the numerous builds we did and always purchased from CAS esp on those weekend sale days.
