I didn't know the background story of the rec deck, so I appreciate you including that.
Awesome job on the observation deck! I like this very unique touch.

Well done. When I first saw the ref photo and noticed the ship's wheel (like an old sailing ship) I thought that can't be. But, guess it actually had it....not a huge trekkie fan, but def like the ship. Guessing you will have a one of a kind with the observation deck - nice job. Potential aftermarket opportunities.

It's really starting to look great. The rec deck windows really came out awesome.

Looks really great! I have been dabbling with ideas about how to set my two ships apart since I'm building the refit and the A together. That would be cool to do that forward observation room. Looks like it all is turning out really nice. Keep up the great work!

My thoughts exactly! There aren't alot of visual differences between the Refit and the "A", this will be a good visual que that sets them apart!

Hey Will, happy new year! Cass is really helpful - he got me some old end hangar pieces for my 1/537 build, and he is doing a great job updating and expanding the old DLM catalogue. If I ever build the 1701-A 1/350 I will be using that hangar bay for sure! As for the forward observation deck, I'm just not sure! I generally don't like anything that changes the external appearance of the ship unless it is not the Enterprise because, in theory, other ships could look slightly different on account of minor variations within a class.
Also, the whole scene in that movie of them shooting up the lift shaft - with more decks than there are in the ship and the numbers going the wrong way anyway - causes me to sort of blot the observation deck out of my own head canon😁😁😁
That being said, if I ever make a 1/350 refit that is not the Enterprise then I will probably do exactly what you have done here.

Sorry to be late to comment but this build is looking tremendous! I remembered seeing the re imagined scenes from star trek 5 and agree with you ,if only Mr. Shatner had a directors cut version it would more closely resemble his original ideas for the film. That observation deck at the bow is really a great look and will set the -A apart from the refit ( as will the different shuttle bay). Happy new year Will !! And looking forward to see this beauty progress!

Hi. can you tell me the correct colors and mix ratio for the light blue on the b/c deck and bridge. i've had a lot of truoble trying to get it right. everything i've tried comes out looking french blue or having a slight purple hue instead of light blue. im been trying with folkart colors but cant find the right color for any of the blue on the model. any help would be appreciated. thanks

For the Powder Blue I used 2 drops Ceramcoat Blue Heaven, 4 drops Decoart Sea Glass, and 9 drops Decoart White!

Where did you get that Rec deck from? I've looked on the Lake Monster Details website and could not find it.

I made it, I sent the file over to Cass to produce as I just don't have to time to get into parts production. I know he was working on getting a printer up and running but you may want to contact him and see when he will have them available.

Without a doubt, that turbo shaft scene is probably the worst in Star Trek! I like doing things that make my builds unique, so I don't mind doing this one, some people will love it, some will hate it, but I like that it just hasn't been done!
