I just saw a mention of Boyd on The Ensign's Chair Channel and popped up over here after doing a quick "TrekWorks" search. I had NO IDEA Boyd had passed away, or that his illness was that bad. I'm at a loss right now. Not gonna mention celebrity deaths because those are just names you know NOT people you know personally. I enjoyed watching Boyd's channel and interacting although it had slowed up in the last few years. Had no idea he was fighting an aggressive cancer. Hard to say much more because it would sound -- corny. I can't imagine this isn't hurting this small modeling community. I don't have a bad thing to say about the guy and I hope his family is coping well.

Thanks for the videos and love learning new things, industry has come a long way in a short span. The community has lost a lot of people that were instrumental in building modeling to new heights! Need to replenish with youngsters doing these as we that are long in the tooth have a limited shelf life so to speak. Boyd was the Bob Ross of Star Trek modeling!

This is great information here,you're showing a lot of great aftermarket add on parts to improve the build. I like the paragraphix photo etch parts,back in 2018 I was able to purchase a bundle of the 8 window Seaview from the film and season 1 of that series. As part of the bundle I received the paragraphix phote etch and it really added to an already nice kit,making it nicer.I am looking forward to your progress on all of the builds that you mentioned, take care Will!

Hi Ensign(sorry, I don't your name); I literally just saw Boyd. On April 24th I met him. I'd purchased his Ultimate Space Battleship Yamato to help support his treatments and went to his house to pick it up. He looked great. He was in good spirits and seemed to be physically recovering and getting stronger. And, I have to say, he was so nice and the coolest older nerd I've ever met. He spent the better part of 6 hours showing me his workspace and his model room while we just talked about everything science fiction and the modeling community. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear he'd just passed away. I will treasure the time I spent with him, the model he made and how amazing his show was. He inspired me to start modeling again and his videos always had great tips on techniques and experiences shared. I will really miss him. RIP Boyd Crompton.

The class room that was shot was actually a prop they constructed for the movie … that building you see now was added to the school in that last 10 years. But it is in the exact spot that was filmed.

Absolutely ... Boyd was an amazing artist and patient man when it came to corresponding with his viewers. He helped me on a number of occasions and it hurts my heart that he's no longer with us. RIP Boyd.

What some may not know is Boyd used to be really big into RC car racing. I’ve known Boyd for over 30 years. He used to live in my hometown. We spent many days and nights racing together all over Wisconsin and Illinois. He was a great friend of mine. He recently sent me his RC car he raced against me back then. I now have it on display with my car from back then for memories of time gone by and a great friendship.

I only knew Boyd from his channel, but I felt like he was such nice person who would be friendly with everyone he met. He was obviously a huge talent in his builds. I will miss watching him perform My prayers to his family.

Yes, very sad news. Great guy and he will be missed...I am watching his 1:350 Enterprise build series. makes me sad to hear his voice and see him work and knowimg we all won't be seeing anymore new builds from him, but it puts a smile on my face at the same time to watch him do his thing. RIP Boyd we love ya and miss you and our thoughts are with your family may happy thoughts of you keep them warm and comforted., and you all..let me say it for Boyd one last time......Happy modeling everyone.

It was a sad sad thing to lose him. Last year it was Chris Cortel and now Boyd. I'm getting tired of these types of videos. 🤕

Terrible news! Boyd was the first Star Trek Modeler I followed on CZcams when I got back in model building 7 yesrs ago.

If I could commission an Excelcior Class ship, I would name it the USS Nuevo Leon, NCC-2139B. It would be a deep space survey cruiser that is assigned to the Delta Quadrant. Its sister ships that would provide back up would be a squadron (6) of modified Runabouts; USS Red River NCC-2245 USS Mississippi Queen NCC-2215 USS Colorado River NCC-2220 USS Rio Bravo NCC-2216 USS Rio Brazos NCC-2301-B USS Sabine River NCC-2349 Apart from those, Nuevo Leon would have a complement of 6 work bees, and 5 Type III Shuttlecraft: Orion #1 Cassiopeia #2 Ares #3 Socrates #4 Apollo #5. Each auxiliary craft would be adorned with historic WW2 era nose art.

Very sad news, my sincere condolences to his family and friends. The world has lost one of it's better people,I always enjoyed watching Boyd and his marvelous gift for making excellence look simple. Thank you Will for posting this loss,we will all remember Boyd Fondly, R.I.P.

Just FYI, his wife said it wasn’t the cancer that he passed from, it was pneumonia and he went septic and that’s what caused him to pass

It's a shock. 😢 I thought he was doing better. He was a true inspiration and just a great guy. I loved watching his videos. The modeling community is broken. My prayers are for his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Trekworks was the first modelling channel I came across and Boyd's combination of skill and the desire to be helpful to his viewers in passing on tips and explaining how to get around problems made me not only subscribe but frequently view his stuff. I'm sure that is the case for many of us. It is very sad. Thoughts and prayers to his family and all who will miss him.
