Thank you. I always enjoy your postings. Sometimes they remind me of a road trip I have taken when younger, sometimes it's a look at a place I know now and I can see the way it was. I enjoy clips like this as well. I've seen quite a few from places like Iran in the seventies which show how vibrant and progressive these places were, and to see how they have changed. It's a good warning about electing dictators or religious extremists. P.S.- I loved the Canadian tie-in with the maple leaf on the tile.

The fisher boats arrive to the port very early. This fresh fish was sold on the market right in from of the Port and taken by women called "peixeiras" who would walk with the "canastras" baskets on their heads, through Lisbon, selling it door by door.

It's possible that some scenes were filmed not in 1954, but in January 1955. The film «Gentlemen prefer blondes» was released on cinema Tivoli December 27th 1954 until January 10th 1955.

Durante o regime de Salazar a morte infantil era bastante elevada, a maior em toda a Europa, a partir de 1961 com a guerra no ultramar, diminuiu a população ainda mais!!!!
