- Thor had an impressive performance at the end of Day 1 competition at the SMOE Shaw Classic in Colorado
He secured minimum points 1st with the 450 stone then went on to get 2 reps on the 550 stone. The only athlete to do that. The put him in the lead for the event at the end of day one.

Hafthor wins 5 out of all the 8 events, sets 2 world records. Mitchell won 2 events and no world records. Hafthor gets second place and Mitchell first place? How does this make sense? Anyone?
Simple : Mitch never gets out of top 3 on all events, he doesn't have big weaknesses, so he always gather decent amount of points on all events. While Thor has big weaknesses, and in events he doesn't win, he tends to fall off quite far from top 3, top 5,... That's why he ends up 2nd.

I truly feel that strongman needs to review the point system a bit. Thor wins 5 of 8 events, and the dude that cruises at seconds and thirds becomes strongest man. I get it, it's smarts and strategy...I just feel that the winner of each implement should be rewarded higher, since that is ACTUALLY what the whole event is about... STRONGEST. Not strategically best cruising.
And yes, I'm a little butt hurt as long time Hafthor fan. 😅

Just face it Thor forgot about the sport he was the best in the world to go into a bullshit boxing match, then he went into powerlifting for no reason and ruined his overhead. If he had stayed in strongman since 2020 he would have won 90% of the shows and still have his overhead strength, including this SMOE.
All this shit that is happening is on him and his own choices, had he respected the sport that made him what he is he would be the unquestionable GOAT at this moment with multiple WSM, ASC and other competitions. But no, better to get scammed on a boxing match and rip my chest into peices believing I can evolve faster than any powerlifting on history. Dumb choices, now he is paying the price.

@mrgaudy1954 yes, but that's part of the game... Shaw didn't win 4 wsm by being the strongest or the best. He was the smartest about his events. Strong man is a lot more than moving big weight

Tom did not train After WSM and does not do as well in havier competitions.
He also peaks for WSM and probably lays off the roids for other comps while Hooper goes 100% all year round.
We'll see how sustainable that Is.

@@wolololeryou can’t be peaked for every show, you can only be at 100% for a few times a year at most. and like someone else said it might be that Tom blasts roids to the max for WSM and then lays off for the rest of the year, probably to preserve his health

Everyone needs to learn from the event for fairness, the stones need as much pre- testing as all other equipment, that way people don't get an advantage going later... watching how the equipment is failing the other competitors and then you get to adjust for extra points?. Everyone knows Tom is not at his ranking in this comp, that makes this whole comp not doing what its supposed to do - find the ''strongest man on earth'' but it is finding the most ''strategic man on earth'' in this event at least, and then giving them an unarguable advantage! something Brian and most of the community does not want.

Not undeserved. Strong man is about being a rounded athlete. Not strong in certain events. The pec tear took away his pressing. But soon he will be back. I'm glad we have a real strong man again. No deadlift suits no nothing just a very very powerful dude.

The stones were way too slick and they did not have prior testing with the stones which was a slipup in my opinion on brian and his crew. I feel like the reffing this year was incredibly more strict, too strict if I say so myself. Also, in fairness to Tom, he really only cares about WSM. They all say this show is top tier and it will prove whose the strongest, but ultimately, WSM carries that prestige whether we like how they run their comps or not. Tom did not train seriously or peak well for this comp and it shows. He really is only focused on WSM that's it.

Who won the Event?
Mitch did only because he was consistent. Thor won 5 of the 8 events, all he's got to do is get his pressing back up and Mitch will never win again.

@@225hauzel9 lightest stone 450 lb..then 500, 550, 600..Tom is the only one to attempt the 600 and failed it.

Mitchel Hooper 1st, Thor 3 points behind, they are the only 2 with real options. Thor won 3 events easily but had a terrible pushing event that is why he is second

@@bearpaw9150 I think that he could lift the 600lb stone but the fact that the stones were new (smooth and slippery) played a major role. In fact 7 out of 16 people zeroed, so there must be something wrong with the stones. But I agree: going directly to the heaviest stone was too cocky
