- Welcome back to another video, episode 5! Wow! In this video I’m getting back to my normal run, loading a B-double up in Brisbane then hauling it down to Melbourne! I went into unknown territory because of a truck and car crash that closed the Hume highway just south of Sydney. I hope you guys enjoy the video thank you all so much for the continued support we really appreciate it! Let’s go for a drive 🚚🚚 #trucking #kenworth #k200 #trucklife #australia #cabover #cummins

Doesn’t matter how long you have been driving, new roads with a big rig is always a nervous affair!
I drive interstate myself and I can tell the viewers here that you are doing a lot of effort to make this amazing content despite the busy routine. As you asked for suggestions, I suggest maybe you can show us some drone footages of the truck stops and other beautiful places where you can park safely.
Great call
You guys are pretty amazing- tough gig!
Noted mate thanks for that 👍
I agree, drone shots make a video 10 times better, but I'm sure he is pushed for time, he wouldn't even get any rest on his rest breaks. Speaking of that, about the logbooks, are they bringing in e-logs in Australia or maybe it's already here? Here is a drone shot to check out, nothing to do with trucking however czcams.com/video/HRt5gp9C_Uc/video.html
Good on you, mate. I live in Chiltern, Vic, just south of Wodonga. We can se you guys from our back veeandah about 3k away lit up like Christmas trees at night. You may know of the homeless Truckie, drives B-double refrigerated like you, but for Lindsay's. He's pretty good at youtube, been doing it for a while. Cheers
I’ve always wondered what trucks would look like in the distance at night I’m a fan of homeless mate he’s part of the reason I started filming 👍
(3:33) ~ Coles called they want their shopping basket back ole mate 👍🤣👍
Ended up being a triple fatality. All occupants of the car died in a crash with a cement truck. The toddler died in hospital a few days later
Another great video. I cut my teeth over 30 years ago as a 19 year old carting coal between Oakdale and Wollongong (Port Kembla). 4 loads a day -12 hours a day - 6 days a week. That was when we ran through Picton and Wilton townships. Certainly a different time in road transport. No computers in trucks, no GPS and no dash cams. It was like an episode of the wacky races every day. Not too many cars could keep up with us on the windy stuff.......
Andrew, real cowboy days! (trucks were not speed limted back then!) If you survived that time without a big incident - hats off to you!
4 loads a day was a big ask for a driver to do safely back then. The good thing is NSW improved those roads - as shown in this video.
@@robertkeast5676 - 4 was the norm with a 290 Cummins so no big deal. I’ve done 5 a couple of times of you flew under the radar as a front runner and tacked on the back of the tail enders….
Im so glad ive come across your channel mate, its so awesome to see this side of the story - im no truck driver myself but your content is great!
Cheers Lewis 👍👍
@@crossfamilytrucking one question I would love to know is what is the number one message you would pass on to non trucker motorists in regards to safety or top 3 things not to do around trucks !
Coles are looking for their basket.
ONYA Mate.
Tell them I found it in a curb side collection pile 😂 they’ll have to fight me for it though I reckon best storage container I’ve ever had
@@crossfamilytrucking hey brother is driving truck easy ? Plus if I get my license I don’t know where to start from brother do you think you can help me out please😢?
Great vid mate. Lovin how honest you are and no BS. Keep them like that and your channel will go a long way. Stay safe out there brother and I will be watching you on Friday night.
Cheers brother appreciate it 👍
Your wife spols you with her cooking 😀I act the same way when travelling down a new road one truck wide. Thanks for sharing.
She does mate it definitely shows in the hips 😂 thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for the vids bro. I live in nz now but I used to drive for Americold right next door to your yard. We drove through your yard everyday to load our dry stock. Seeing you drive along Lytton rd onto the gateway and down the coast bought back good memories for me 😂 safe trucking brother
Small world brother! Thanks for watching 👍
The detour was in fact following the top of the escapement along south till you picked up Picton Rd going west back to the Hume as you said. You actually didn't go down into Wollongong, close thou. Where you turn left in Appin was great choice. Straight ahead on Wilton Rd ends in pain. Boughton Pass, hairpin bends into and out of tight bridge crossing the Cataract River. Not B double route.
Great insights. Good stuff.
Excellent video mate. Was always my ambition as a teenager growing up in WA to be an interstate truck driver, after watching the semis coming down Greenmount Hill into Perth........it never eventuated, I joined the Navy instead - did 20 odd years and then ended up in IT!! Retired now, but your vidoes shows me what I could have looked forward to. Definately not all rainbows and lolllipops, but certainly some good times if you enjoy your own company. Many thanks for posting!
Mate it’s funny because I used to tell my parents as a kid that I wanted to be in the navy and now I’m a truckie haha thanks for watching mick 👍
I’ve been watching your vlogs since they first came out. Watch a few of the truck driving vlogs and yours is definitely one of if not the best.
You have a real talent for this mate, I hope you keep it up and look forward to seeing how far you go.
Cheers
That means a lot brother! Words like that are what keep me focused on it so I can keep giving out content to you guys 👍
Your Vlogs are amazing mate.. keep it up and keep showing us the beautiful Australia.
Thanks mate 👍
Another great vlog, like I'm in the driver's seat. Be really interesting to hear your stories of how you got started, and memorable happenings along the way.
I reckon that might be its own video some time in the future 👍
Hey mate love ya raw content no bullshit just real and also your honesty keeping it real will matter enjoying watching cheers Pete
Cheers Pete 👍
Awesome content mate. Class 4 (HR) driver in NZ, Making the move over to Brisbane soon and keen to get my MC license. Cheers for giving us a look into your trucking life bud.
Thanks brother what part of brissy you moving to? We just had someone move over from Waikato he got straight into truck on his HC
you can only go do HC, Well that's all they gave me 20 years ago and I had all the NZ licenses, It is better here fore sure
Loving the videos man definitely a good insight and motivation to get up and get back on the road and work towards getting my license, videos are great always good to have the camera on keeps the eyes open to have something to talk about on the road keep up the vids
Cheers mate. Appreciate the support. 👍🏻
Nice videos mate. I’m not a truckie but respect the work you do. From your view we can see how normal car drivers can be a problem. Stay safe, you have a family that cars and loves you.
Most drivers are good mate but with everything there’s always a couple bad eggs here and there 👍
Great work m8 and great content, Recently moved to Rockyview QLD but my home town was Tahmoor NSW which is not fair from picton. RIP TO THE LADY AND YOUNG CHILD IN THE ACCIDENT
Nice mate beautiful area to grow up thanks for watching 👍
Gday bro , don is looking down and thinking yep ,this guy deserves to drive my trucks, keep up the great work 👍👍👍
Love these truck videos. Awesome job. Was riding that detour and the nerves 😊fantastic
Cheers thanks for watching 👍
Awesome! Loved the vlog. Now a subscriber. Off now to watch V1-4 !
Thanks mate appreciate it 👍
Great vid brother congrats on 2k subs 🍻🍺
Thanks mate appreciate it 👍
This is great mate, keep it up 👍🏻🏁
Cheers 👍
Yet another great vlog Mate. Keep em coming cos we fallas love watching it. Got me brother in Fiji hooked up with your vids. A bit advertising for Coles too😂. Good on ya Mate.
Greetings from America.Wow, that's very cool. I love checking out trucking from different countries. Over here in America, it's right close to the same thing that you do over there. Matter fact, some of it is the same stuff other than our trucks are different here. I drive the American classic peterbilt 389. Have safe travels, my friend and stay in between the lines.😎👍💯
Great vids mate. I use a rag for the fuel when it rains & a brush for the dash just like you. I drive a concrete truck in western Sydney, a lot of big industrial sites out here being built, very dusty, especially when I'm in reverse & the engine fan kicks in, dust everywhere !!!
Great work in hard situation with the detour, Picton road used to be a real death trap , they cleaned it up a heap. Another great video thanks
It’s an awesome road now 👍
I know you guys hate us around town clowns but I got massive respect for you blokes who drive these monsters. I struggle with my 10 palleter at times
I don’t hate anyone mate no matter what you drive we’re all playing our part 👍👍
Nice vlog! Thanks for creating and sharing! Grtz from The Netherlands
Wow Netherland thanks for watching 👍
Great work.
When I did the run we had to change gears.
Fantastic to see your attention to detail.
Cool clip.
Cheers 👍
Just found your channel loving the content so nice to see Aussie trucking
Thanks mate 👍
I'm enjoying you vlogs. You provide an honest down to earth prespective - maybe even inviting new drivers with your initial experience! I can't believe Australia can't have a more automated infastructure that manages the paperwork the truck drivers have to fill in every day.
Thanks very much 👍
Yeah I guess one day industry will catch up to technology
Loving the content mate. Thank you for sharing! The little details are interesting for people like me who are entertaining the idea of long-haul driving as a change of career. I have a mc license but haven’t used it for work. I drive medium rigid trucks most weeks but I’m not employed as a truck driver lol.
A lot of people keep asking for little details mate so I’ve made a list and I’m just gonna make sure I talk about them in each video 👍
Hated loading in Brisbane in the rain in summer. Everything got soaked, lol. Great Video mate, keep up the great work.
Yeah everything gets soaked and then all of a sudden the sun comes out and your sweating cos it’s humid 😂
Try being in Sydney which is actually wetter than Brisbane and most of our rain comes in the cooler months.
Lovin the vids mate, I’m a rigid driver in Melbourne but would love to drive a big rig! Your story is awesome and good luck with your ambitions. Keep safe bro!
Cheers brother keep truckin you’ll get there 👍👍
@@crossfamilytrucking cheers mate, people like you and your family inspire us all. Keep up the great work
Great informative video .there is no more enjoyment than driving out in the Australian country side . I'm lucky enough to live amongst the bush and drive my tip truck , keep on truckin
Thanks Justin keep it safe 👍
Cool video, makes a nice change from watching Outback truckers. If we ever leave the UK I would love to continue truck driving in Australia.
There’s plenty of trucks to go around mate 👍
Great video, really enjoyed watching it. Lucky you turned left at Appin, the road straight ahead to Wilton across Broughtons Pass is certainly not B Double friendly. I used to use it with a 3 axle rigid years ago but these days there is a length limit on it. There are a couple of tight hairpin bends that would have caused you all sorts of pain. Keep up the good work, you make an old truckie miss his time on the road.
Yeah the website said not to use that road mate so I didn’t 👍thanks for watching
Great channel mate. 👊🏼✌️
Thanks very much 👍
Just found your channel, great video. I drove trucks over the road 20 years here in the states and been driving charter Buses for the last 20 years. The nerves still ramp up when I drive on a road I haven’t been before.
That’s a long time on the highway brother respect 👍 yup I think it’s the same for anybody driving a heavy vehicle always nervous in uncharted territory thanks for watching 👍
great vids keep it up l am watching from New Zealand l am a truck driver here its great to see what you do love it be safe mate
Cheers brother keep it safe 👍
Thanks for the excellent video. Can you make them a little longer as I,m enjoying the beautiful scenery of Australia. You drive a truly beautiful rig . Cape Town South Africa.
Wow South Africa 🇿🇦 thanks for watching mateI’m very limited to how long I can make videos at the moment because I edit and upload them all on my iPhone hopefully I’ll be able to get a Mac book soon 👍
I loooooved Wollongong when I visited Aus in 2015. We should be back there around 2024ish to establish somewhere in NSW
You did quite well with going from the Hume Highway to Appin Road
Have my MR and used to drive tourist vehicles between Casino (near Lismore) and the GC; work at a local servo now but also occasionally drive the local cab……would love to look into upgrading and doing something else as have always felt at home on the road…..these videos just make the itch stronger and something. I’ll definitely be chatting with the wife about so thank you for the content and please keep it up 😊
Have a go mate if you feel at home on the road I think you’ll enjoy it 👍
Good on you mate love it
Thanks mate 👍
Nothin special bout the gong mate, scenery’s not to shabby, That’s about it. Awesome vids mate, quite wnjoy them 🤙🍻
Awesome video! 😊👍🔥
Thanks mate 👍
Great work. 😀
Cheers Clive 👍
Good stuff Aussie Trucker Man sure beat them miles up
Thanks brother 👍
Love the vids bro hopefully I see you on the rd

Thanks brother 👍👍
Great video.....👍🇨🇦
Thanks mate 👍
Good video mate watching it from here in UK 🇬🇧 👍
Thanks mate thanks for watching 👍
these videos are so interesting, my dream is to be truckie and you are just proving that, you've earned yourself a new sub.
Cheers mate 👍
Really enjoying the channel,
Would love to see a bit of a walk around video of the truck and trailers, showing the systems and so on,
Rogey mate noted 👍
Nice truck
Great video mate thanks for sharing....I'm a truck driver in the uk 👍
Must be a lot of drivers in the uk 🇬🇧 thanks for watching 👍
Great work champ
Thanks brother 👍
Good content mate keep up the good work and stay safe.
Cheers Michael
Cheers mate 👍
See you there!
That Appi /bulli road was used in the razorback highway blockade.
Wise decision not to explain the cheat sheets old mate, the Pacific and Hume are a hell of alot better than when I last took a semi on them, love your vlogs and keep it going.
Trying to stay out of trouble 👍 I’ve heard stories about the old days going up and down the highways different times hey thanks for watching mate 👍
Hi shayne from Albury new to the channel I am with you driving a b/double were you haven't been before. Safe travels
It gets a bit hairy hey old mate 👍
Hahaha no way you pinched a coles basket
😂😂😂
Doing a good job mate
Thanks mate appreciate it 👍
You go fast .
Loving the content, this randomly came up on my suggestions and I'm glad it did! I actually service the bins in your yard ( I didn't know it was a Watsons yard, my paperwork just says americold ) Been thinking about getting my MC for a while! I love that same hawkesbury section of road too and think about it often, good memories with my old man on that stretch of rd many a time! Also commented before I watched the whole thing, I grew up in Picton NSW and only moved to Bris about 6 years ago. You were perfectly right about what you said about Appin Rd etc, it was always just a small country town and all those housing estates came later. The way you went is right, if you went on Wilton Rd, you would've come unstuck at broughtons pass which is a tight hairpin rd, had a few get stuck there growing up as a young lad haha. It is a hell of alot quicker if you are in a car though!
Also dead right about feeling uncertain when you don't know areas, it never goes away!
Awesome mate might see you in the yard sometime 👍 beautiful place Appin thanks for watching
Videos are great brother.
Was going to do the road train changeovers for DW but ended up doing other freight you have me thinking now 🤔
Thanks mate 👍 tough gig those changeovers those boys run late constantly
@@crossfamilytrucking you might’ve just answered that one for me lol
Keep up the great work, see you out there in a different coloured one 👍🏼
Best job ever
I like ya frozen meals son ,looking forward to trying some when i come over 👍👍
You’ll end up fat like me dad lol
Brutha I’m glad you didn’t take that Wilton Road, you would have made the traffic report on the radio as a B-Double stuck at the Gorge 😆 love ya work 👌
Thanks brother good to hear from you the other day 👍 they actually had a patrol car stopping trucks from going down there
Same here bud.Stay safe Drive👍
Loving the vids mate. Shout out to Marulan, I grew up there and my parents still live there👌. For your wet seat, me and my Mrs use a seat cover in our car after surfing to keep our seats dry. Just google surfing/dry seat covers mate. You could maybe give it a go/review mate? Keep the vids coming mate👍
Just googled it mate hopefully can find one that will fit a kenworth seat 👍
Great work and inspirational i hope to be doing it too soon cheers
Good luck mate hope to see you out there one day 👍
@@crossfamilytrucking thanks mate i just have to wait until January next year to upgrade to MC i only updated to HC this year just been doing some local work as a relief driver around Brisbane getting more experience unfortunately i didn't know i could have jumped up to MC from my HR thanks again cheers
Good ol Ballina BP truck stop
Hi Sir I just come across your channel great video i have subscribe watching from the U.K.
Thanks mate 👍
Tell about ramps!! At dock in a little more!!
I'm actually thinking about moving back to Sydney or Brisbane I've been pulling triple and quad road trains for around 15 years it's time for a change
awesome be safe keep left.
I always carry plastic bags for the seat if I know it's going to rain. One or two woolworths plastic bags go a long way 😅
Good idea brother not sure why I didn’t think of that I’ve literally got rubbish bags under my drivers seat haha
26:10 straight through is called the razed back zig zag road mate
Good video mate. Keep them coming. I have absolutely no idea about trucks so I find this interesting. How long do you “warm” the truck up for from a cold start
Cheers mate 👍 I usually warm it up for around 30 minutes but it really doesn’t come up to temp until pulling trailers anyway
I hate having to go down roads youve never driven on.. massive sweaty palm moment.. I drive a 30m "A-double" road train tanker and dont want to snooker myself by going the wrong way, they are not as easy to reverse as a b-double as you know.
Yep for sure mate very nerve racking in those situations 👍
Do you talk on the radios often? First time hearing it this vlog, interested to see more radio chatter on your trips! 👍
I stay off it as much as I can mate otherwise it’s too easy to get into arguments lol my wife said the same thing that I should get some radio chat in the videos but that would mean leaving the camera rolling constantly I just don’t have the space on the sd cards 👍
Great video, good to see someone who looks after their truck so well. Do you drive the same prime mover all the time, or just any one they give you on the day ?
Cheers yeah mate I drive the same truck every day the locals use it every now and again but I’m the only linehaul driver 👍
Mate, when you are doing these vids, keep one hand properly on the wheel, that way you'll not get into strife with the law eh, besides if you ran over a block or something, the wheel will spin
in the days before power steering you hadda keep both hand on, push with one hand pull with the other
Yes iknow all about the big hail stones I come from stanthorpe
Beautiful place Stanthorpe my wife and I love it out there don’t mind a good drop 🍷
So interesting
Thanks for watching mate 👍
I'm So Happy That I Found An Awesome Trucking Vlog Channel 😃😍. Bro Stay Safe 😃. You Drive For A Good Trucking Company 😃. DON WATSON'S TRANSPORT Should Get SCANIA'S 😍. Thanks brother yeah that crash is sad how good is it to have a wife that feeds you haha
@@crossfamilytrucking. Your Welcome Brother 😍. Yep It Sure Doe's 😂
Hi mate love your videos they are cool. When you first started out driving what navigation app did you use for your truck
I’ve always used google maps brother and then government websites to check if I’m allowed to go down certain roads 👍
You really know how to drive, respect for how quick you got it docked on.....here in the netherlands we have those b-trains too, i have never done that. And that tractor is that a KW?
Cheers mate it’s just practice yup kenworth k200 big cab mate 👍
❤❤❤❤
Get a raincoat! 😂
Arr the old window electricks in a K200, i remember going down the Hawksbury when the passager side window decided to go down in the middle of the night, enough to put the fear of god into a man,LOL.
Typical kenworth problems hey mate 🤷♂️
Such great videos, congrats, will certainly be watching more. I have no idea how you do such long hours on the road. What was the total time from Brisbane to Melbourne and how much of that was rest breaks?
Thanks mate 👍 it takes me about 30 hours with usually 10 hours rest all up
Nice work ethics, what are those blinking lights on top of your dash? Be safe and take care.
Loving your videos. We had to detour around the Hume highway accident too. Was traveling from Wollongong to Sydney.
