- Welcome to Schony747 trains on Wednesday. If you enjoy the video, hit the like button and smash the bell for weekly updates on Schony747.
Today Schony 747 features passenger trains on the interstate standard gauge line between Victoria and Albury New South Wales. Some of the best known Australian Passenger Trains once traversed this railway line but due to declining passenger numbers, some of these trains no longer run. The Spirit Of Progress and Southern Aurora are two overnight trains that are featured here along with V/Line Passenger and the XPT from New South Wales which eventually replaced all overnight train services between Melbourne and Sydney.
There's lots of history with some of these trains so sit back and enjoy the video. Have a great week - Brenden S.

👌
Thankyou mate
All the original spirit of progress carriages owned by the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre will eventually go standard gauge. There's still a few that need to change gauge
It would have been good to see at least a few left on the BG.
The stupid Victorian government of the day should have never sold off or even in some cases donated rolling stock like the old SOP cars to private self interest groups to basically ruin them. Which is why the NSW Thirlmere museum functions well. It is state government owned , and indeed more accountable.
Cool 💥💥💥. Did T357 get a repaint recently??
It's Bern like that for a while now. T356 with steamrail is a bit faded and would look good after a repaint
@@Schony747 Ok, thanks for the reply.
Amazing vid schony747
Thankyou mate 😀😀
No worries man
Great video Brenden.
Thanks Patrick
Great video Schony!
Thankyou mate 😀😀
You could tell they were *sleeper* cars......... They *snored!* LOL
@Neil Forbes Shhhhh!!!!!!!!!! the cars are sleeping LOL
Had flats on the way back as well so no one could sleep
@@Schony747 Hope they were "pumped up"! LOL
With the two *Sleeper* cars, passengers had to be very quiet as those *Sleeper* cars were grumpy if woken! LOL
@Neil Forbes that joke was around years ago just goes to show it was a sleeper
I'll let sleeping dogs lie right here 🤣😅😆
@@Schony747 you have to forgive neil he's from Port Stephens LOL
@@Schony747 Oooh, that was a bit "ruff"!
@@neilforbes416 hmmm look whos "barking" up the wrong tree LOL
I remember when u could see the tracks through the toilet, and u could see your poo go on them !!!
Yeah I remember that and we were always told not to use the toilet while the train was at a station platform
Great video
Thanks Man 😀😀
Nice video.
Thankyou always mate 😀😀
As the XPT pulled in, I note that 3801 was visiting Albury as well.
@Neil Forbes yes it did
Yes it was taken the same weekend 3801 returned to Albury after many years
@@Schony747 a friend of mine had a ride from melbourne to albury his home town he enjoyed it
@@Schony747 Steamfest at Maitland has been rescheduled to the weekend of 30th and 31st July this year(2022) and I'm hoping 3801 will be at that event.
@@neilforbes416 yes on the 29th of June one day only as it be in casino on the 30th the following day
I will miss the N class locos when they go - probably to be sold off to SSR and others to be worked into the ground...
Who knows but V/Line will get something for them. The standard gauge locos get worked really hard now and is one reason why they get swapped back to Broad Gauge from time to time.
And some would definitely go to Pacific national
@Neil Forbes as you can see Victoria still uses loco hauled trains
Yes and lots of them as well compared to other states 😀😀
was so much better in the old days when you could light up a cigarette and relax !!!
Not my cup of tea but the old era and the vynal seats were interesting
Only in a smoking area of the train. There was a 20 dollar fine for smoking in a non smoking compartment back in the day and that was quite a lot of money back then too.
Those XPT's are now, as of 11th April, 2022, *retired!*
@Neil Forbes and a new service will start next year
@@travelingman2664 In the meantime, what are they doing to replace the now-retired XPTs?
@@neilforbes416 buses
@@travelingman2664 Buses don't cut the mustard here. Train lines are more direct. Buses have to follow often indirect routes through suburbs of cities while trains just cut right through.
@@neilforbes416 well that's what it be replaced with
