2023 Nova LFS Diesel “Conehead” 9198 Q101 to East Midtown at Queensboro Plaza

It’s over 9000!
Here is a 2023 Nova LFS Diesel “Conehead,” 9198, in operation on the Q101 to East Midtown-60th Street and 2nd Avenue via Steinway Street and the Queensboro Bridge, in its earliest days of revenue service. This was the first Nova LFS unit to ever enter service out of LaGuardia Depot, doing so on the Q67 on 5/17. With that, all of the allotted Queens depots that were supposed to receive Coneheads (both NYCT and MTA Bus) now have them in service.
This bus, along with 9192 and 9201, are recent arrivals to LaGuardia Depot. These are the first Nova LFSs LaGuardia has ever received, and the first Novas the depot has held in its possession since 2019. This depot will only be receiving Order II Conehead units, late 9100s and 9200s. It is estimated that LaGuardia will receive at least 84 units.
The 9100s are part of the MTA Bus Conehead Order II, an order of 173 Nova LFSs from the 289 Split Diesel Order (Coneheads/XD40s from 9099-9387). When these LFSs are combined with Order I (135 Nova LFSs from 8964-9098), they will total 308 new Nova LFS Coneheads altogether for MTA Bus.
Many (self included) often mistake this for an Option Order. Please note that this is NOT an Option Order, but rather a separate order of LFS Coneheads.
