This video is awesome
I bring Sutekh's gift of liking this video to all humanity. Theres a special Tales of the TARDIS this Thursday. That will explain it.
All I can say is...'I Bring Sutekh's Gift of Death To All Humanity!'
Kive Sutekh's Gift of Death To All Humanity!
I have 4 of them~
I like the little touch of Susan's May-Bot dancing as she came on stage
I noticed that too XD
Im glad someone else clicked that haha
"Once upon a time, late on Christmas Eve, a stranger came to the church on Ruby Road. She carried in her arms the most precious gift of all. A newborn child. A baby girl. Just before midnight, *she left her daughter on the steps of the church*. The child was taken in, and they named her Ruby, after the place where she was found. *As for the mother, she was never seen again. No one ever knew her name, until that night a time traveller came to call. A traveller known as the Doctor.*"
The Doctor knew her name.... and it made him cry.
Sutekh first appeared in the episode Pyramids of Mars with Tom Baker, he is an Osiran, a race of God-like aliens, and someone that The Doctor has always feared and hoped he would never have to encounter again.
Sutekh is based on the Ancient Egyptian God of the same name, who is more commonly known as Set. He is the God of Mischief, chaos, the desert, storms, the sky, and war. He was infamous for murdering his brother, Osiris, and chopping his body up into many pieces. He was also known for his battles with Horus over who would rule Egypt.
As much as I'm hyped for the next part and i know where this is from
"who's Sutekh What the fuck" is probably going to be a very common question and is going to alienate quite a lot of people as it's not really been foreshadowed .
still excited but if I didn't know what was going on i'd probably be very out of the loop
Do you think not knowing who the Master was alienated people when he showed up? Or the Dalek?
@@sallyatticum so I watched those in 2005/7 when they first came out and I don't think it's the same.
I don't think dalek really applies as it still worls ad any monster of thr week but we'll take the master insted.
In series 3 the two hooks are "you are not alone" and the constant dropping of Mr Saxon. Independent of this being the master in spesfically this is still paid off in utopia because the doctor being the last of the time Lord was our assumption that was challenged by "you are not alone" and shattered by the pocket watch (we know what that means because we saw family of blood before this and that time Lords can hide in plane sight) so the revel that the doctor is not the last of the time Lords and the Other One is evil works.
Whereas most of the mystery this series is about Ruby's parents and name dropping of the doctors grandchild along with strange individuals (Susan triad and Mrs flood) . The one who waits is mentioned twice (I didn't notice but google tells me it was I'm devil's cord) and the giggle (which if you tuned into season 1 episode 1 you will not have seen) so the fact that Susan triad is actually a puppet of an Egyptian god of death does seem to come out of nowhere and doesn't seem that connected with everything else.
Sorry for long comment and it may chnage with the final episode but I think the master revel is very different to this one
@@randerson1893 It has been about the Pantheon as well, though, and we saw the Maestro's Harbinger was still hanging around. These different gods have been name-checked a few times. We were told about the new boss and the one who waits who "can't have been there" when Ruby was left at the Church. And there have been lots of hints that some tech or video game imagery was involved in all these stories. I even saw a few people guess it was Sutekh. I still think Ruby is a Time Lord (or a goddess) hidden by the chameleon arch by either Mrs. Flood or Ruby's adopted mom.
@@sallyatticum The dalek had an entire episode to explain what they were and they wre heavily related to the Doctors personal arch of the last time lord that had killed his entire race because of them. When they appeared in the finale, it was personal and a big deal. The Master was the culmination of three years of the last of the time lords finding another one that just happened to be an evil equal to the hero. It was ironic, and it was tragic and it meant a lot because we knew the personal implications and we had the time lords build up in our imaginations for three years, so finding another one was a big deal. It was personal and it was meaningful. The Cybermen were re-introduced in two episodes in season two before becoming the final menace with the Daleks. Sutekh is... Well. He is some big bad. Some of us remember him from and old serial, one of the best. Thats it. I dont think anybody is going to be alienated, and he works as a big bad menace, but you cant compare them, nor their impact.
@@Dacre1000 I think some people just need something to bitch about.
I don't think Gemma gets enough credit for going military mode. That "you do not question, you move!" Hit hard compared to her normal
Yes and also telling that tall colonel not to go after the other one who's in the time window. In so many movies and shows a second person goes to check and dies but she didn't let it happen. She's a really good leader
Great reaction, thank you! I loved this episode; really creepy and suspenseful. The CGI for Sutekh seems a bit ropey, but I love the creature design. Can't wait to find out how it's all paid off in the last episode.
Great episode which ramped up the tension. Love Mel and Kate.
Can’t wait to find out who Mrs Flood is.
Keep up the great work.
Carol Ann Ford is in her 80's, and she participated in the 50th anniversary specials. I don't remember seeing her in the 60th, so I'm not sure if she is still acting.
38:09 That would be cool to have her, if only for a quick cameo, and then see her regenerate into another actor.
She still acts, she's in many Big Finish productions.
Great reaction, but I'm sorry to see that some people are incapable of abiding by your wish to not be spoiled.
Looking forward to the next one.
I'm going to eat my tea to this and enjoy your reaction (I'm having pizza with a side order of Human Soul )
If you look back in your comments on the Giggle you will find that someone (me) predicted that Sutekh could be the one that waits! I dont normally get things this right.
Does the moratorium on Sutekh also apply to Ibrahim?😀
As someone that grew up with classic Who, this was fantastic. Best Who episode in years
Even not knowing Sutekh (im only on series 3 of Classic so far), it was one of the best for so long
In the classic doctor who series, with Tom Baker starring as the fourth doctor, there was a 4 part episode called "Pyramids of Mars' where the doctor fights an entraped godlike being known as Sutekh. As a point of reference.
What part of 'if it's an established part of the whoniverse, don't tell me, because I don't want to be spoiled' is so hard to understand?
@CapCanada-wc3um I think she made it perfectly clear no spoilers why are you spoiling things for her.
Knowing Sutekh would not be a spoiler it would only had to the story but I respect your wishes.
I know it's not the most convincing crying but hearing ruby crying after her mother to not go breaks my heart
Hi Shelma(NO SPOILERS) I know you’re watching classic WHO, but have you seen all of New WHO up to this point? You referenced Girl In The Fireplace knowingly- have you watched all of 10’s run? I don’t want to spoil any of New Who for you, but I can think of a candidate or two for Ruby’s mother that no one seems to have mentioned in the comments from the new series.😆
Cheers- Jameson

Christmas Eve 2004 was … *my* 44th Birthday! 😮🎉
Also 2004 is the release year of the Pyramids DVD. Throw away your snowy VHSs
@@ianstopher9111 My first name without the vowels! You may be on to something! 🤔
I think susan foreman is the mother of ruby and/or the saviour of next weeks episode
fun fact the guy who voices sutek here is 95 and voiced the beast from the 10th drs erra
He also voiced Sutekh in the 70s.
@@christianschoff2490 ye see pinned coment shelma is on sesries 3 of clasic :)
I very much enjoyed this episode, FINALLY!
I am sad to see so many people spoiling Classic Who for you even though you said in this video you HAVEN'T GOTTEN THERE YET AND DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED.
Sadly it seems to be unavoidable now.
Exactly, what part of NO SPOILERS are these people struggling to understand?
Yeah- I noticed this too, Sally. All I know to do is block the spoiler accounts if they don’t in any way respect Shelma’s request to not spoil her experience.⏱️🌌🟦
I think only a couple of Who reactors who will know who Sutekh is.
You asked for no spoilers, so I will avoid them. There's two things people need to know though:
1) Sutekh is SPOILERS, and if you knew of them before this episode aired, this reveal made you very happy.
2) There's a new Tales of the TARDIS airing the Thursday before Empire of Death. WATCH IT.
I won't tell you when, what Doctor or companion or the name of the story but let's just say Sutekh the Destroyer is voted as one of the best and most popular villains in Dr. Who history i will leave it at that.
Ruby is Susan and used the thing to make her human and forget she’s a time lord like the doctor done in series 3 with the fob watch. The person who dropped ruby/susan off on Xmas eve is Susan but the original Susan so ostensibly she’s dropping herself off 🤷🏻♂️🙈😂 or something around the lines. Ruby’s mother will be the doctors daughter jenny who is now the kind woman regenerated from original jenny 🤷🏻♂️ either that or original Jenny will return. Just a guess and then what if ruby dies and then regenerates into new companion varada the actress from boom. And similar to capaldi choosing the face of guy from fires if pompeii as a reminder who he is.
Can't wait for you to be wrong
But the Doctor said he wasn't a parent yet, so it can't be Jenny.
But we know he is as Jenny is his daughter
Yes yes yes
My theory for future tv series what if ruby might be mother of Susan also could rose be mother of ruby?
Rose Tyler's mother is Jackie and Rose Noble's mother is Donna. Makes no sense for it to be that.
the doctor said some time lords regenerate to hide, and ms flood said she hides away, i think ms flood is susan
I recognise Sutekh as one of the queue of immortal beings over the years wanting revenge on the Doctor ( can't remember which ) . I'm also getting fed up with the Tardis crash landing instead of materialising . Nice to see some familiar faces and starting to find answers . It could be the Doctors Susan , but like you I think it might be bait . Rubys biological mum seems a goodie as she pointed to the entity around the Tardis .I'm a bit worried about gran left with an increasingly sinister Mrs Flood . Anyway , I'm sure next week we'll all be saying ' of course I guessed that ' despite not having a clue at this point .
It would be a great surprise if the 13th Doctor was Ruby's mother.
Wait to you get to sutekh fantastic story in classic who
Did you miss the bit where Shelma repeatedly said not to tell her if Sutekh had been in classic Who? Are you deaf? Or just deliberately being an ass?
Watch pyramids of mars.
Nevermind
Seriously? She specifically says she doesn't want to know if it's an established part of DW, so she won't be spoiled when she gets there and you just go ahead and do it anyway?
@@Aetheria60 Yeah I completely missed that.
@@jimmyrrpageMistakes happen. At least you corrected it. Cheers.
You were right, her "mother" was pointing. She's pointing at Sutekh wrapped around the TARDIS.
The 4th Doctor faced Sutekh... he's basically Thanos plus the infinity gems
Shelma specifically asked not to be told anything about Sutekh if they've appeared elsewhere in the series.
Sutekh is a dr who enemy from this episode 😂😂😂😂
Tom baker era pyramids of mars
Sutekh: 4th Doctor
Sutekh is a 4th Doctor villain
And Tenth.
@@christianschoff2490 you’re thinking of the Beast
@@OnlineFanBoy I most certainly am not. Not only am I not thinking of the Beast but I'm also 70% that Ruby Sunday is the daughter of Dorothy Bell.
Sutekh is the villain from the classic Doctor Who from 1975. The 4th doctor faced him. Now he is back
Other thing : the TARDIS look at the windows (they turned red in connection with Sutekh)
Did you miss the bit where Shelma repeatedly said not to tell her if Sutekh had been in classic Who? Are you deaf? Or just an ass?
You know that purposely spoiling someone who specifically said they don't want to be spoiled if it's an established villain does not make you seem cool and all-knowing, right?
