I think hill is underestimating Alex's power, and everyone else is underestimating hill. If hill doesn't end it within the first 3 rounds I can see the fight going like the first fight with him and izzy, he might eventually get caught if he's not 100% perfect.

I've been listening to what Hill and his team are saying, they all say that Hill's striking is better than Pereira, if he truly believes this then it will be his downfall. Realising the reality of a fight will help you figure out what you have to do to win.

I do think that Joe Rogan was right all along about Alex, he has that nuclear option whenever things become dire for him. he'll just detonate that hook and boom fight is over instantly. I am not counting Hill out that easily, but I can guarantee Hill won't stand against Alex for quite too long. the longer they keep the fight on the feet, the more Alex will have a read upon Hill's size and length and will simply put a countermeasure once he closes the distance or once he made a fatal mistake in exchanges.

It's too subtle for me to see around 7:07, those big overhands from Jiri look like they hit pretty flush. Does Alex simply have that good of a chin, or was he rolling with it and those punches didn't connect as flush as they look?
He's rolling with them but also has a better chin since he doesn't have to lose 20 pounds of water weight. If you think about it water is really important because of the fluid in your brain. That's probably a big reason why it seems like everyone has glass chins.
If you watch his sparring videos he’s constantly practicing his rolls, he pretty much exclusively blocks with his face.
Alex has a terrible chin. I think he's getting ko'd this time.

According to Hill's head coach, Hill has had a strained groin during this training camp, and they had to dial back Hill's wrestling. Groins & hamstrings are slow to heal, no matter what the sport. Oh, and Hill completely tore his Achilles 9 short months ago.

. I am sure your dad knows these guys. The 60s-70s Steve was the BEST era of martial arts in America to be in hands down! Today with all the MMA stuff, its very good entertainment. The MMA guys, great fighters, very tuff. But its more about 'prize fighting" then Martial Arts... Not real martial arts from practice to behaviour. MMA guys today fighters, etc fans their behavior is repulsive. Its like WWE. No self control, no self respect no respect for their fellow competitior. It was not like that back in the day but today, MMA is controlled by entertaining corpratist. Unlike back in the sixties and seventies, it was all about the art, bushido etc. Great time. We built great human beings. Albeit we didnt make a lot of money like you guys today, but the art had a better rep because we could turn a bad kid into a good kid. Today, the optics of MMA fighters is that they are just a bunch of degenerate problem children. Lot all but I am sure you get my drift. So its why I do not see MMA as a martial art in the classical sense. I see it as a combat prizefighting sport. Hence its why Bill Wallace and guys like Chuck Norris are critical of the sport in some ways.

I also am opposed to the kicks to the knee, which are intended to hyper-extend and damage the knee joint! Out of all the ridiculous strikes/techniques which are banned from use, this is one which is arguably legitimately deserving of being banned - it can potentially mean the end of a fighter's career.

There's few who can out-strike you in the division and in whole UFC. I believe the non-strikers suddenly become too confident when they get success in their previous matches. Usman had similar feeling which led to his downfall.
I would lean Hill but with his recent injury and it takes a min of a year recover Hill is coming back too soon and with Alex leg kicks may destroy his legs taking Hill movements and power so I believe Alex will retain it
I would not be surprised if its over in the first minute. I think hill saw how bad the leg kicks affected Jiri so his plan will be to finish him quickly. The first one he feels he will go full streetfight mode and now he has the 300k bonus insensitive on top aswell. Just a case of which guy is going to land the first big shot.

Poaton’s only been knocked out cold 1 time by Izzy, so only 1 in 77 Career Pro/amateur fights with just 2 standing TKO’s . Other losses were decision’s so yes it’s possible but not very likely and it took the 2nd best MW in UFC history 4 fights to find that shot for knockout. Should be a great fight though ☝️🤔

That was a great stoppage from the ref. He went limp and fell on his back...game over. He recoved fast but Alex would have buried him in seconds if not stopped.

Hill is thinking it will be easy to find a breach on Alex's kicking time to counter it with long weapons
Pereira has such an advantage on both these guys coming off major injuries to face him in their first fight back. They are both rusty after long layoffs. They both haven’t regained the confidence in their body functioning 100% let alone being I. A groove and confident. Confidence is huge in fighting and even when coming back off a layoff with not injury guys are rusty. Look at Cejudo or even Covington. Add a slight hesitation from not trusting your injury to hold and it adds up. Pereira is still a beast and probably beats Jiri anyway but Alex has been the most active fighter and has been building a ton of confidence, he’s also progressing super fast fighting all these top guys.
I agree with you and I believe Hill should've pass his shot ahead and picked an easier fight for his return.
But if he chose to demand his promised title fight, he's probably confident he can win.

It will be interesting seeing Pereira fighting in the open stance for most of the fight. It will change the way he can attack the lead leg. Though Hill has a wide stance, attacking the lead leg from orthodox has far more tell and Pereira throws a sort of low switch kick on that side. Without the threat of invisible calf kicks, boxing will become far more important.

@@brunotartari675 I have, but it is different fighting a southpaw that switches than an orthodox that switches. Jiri is great, but he uses southpaw closing distance or breaking rhythm. As much as I love Wonderboy and know that he can see more in a moment than I can in a lifetime, I am more with Tim Welch that Hill fighting out of southpaw is very different from Jiri.

Jamal has the Patience, not Once during the glover fight did he gas out tryna finish, he had one moment where he swarmed him, realized it wasnt worth the expenditure and proceeded to outclass him.
Do those calf kicks hurt? What is the most painful shot to take? The head shots don’t hurt too bad, you just quit functioning, but liver shots, leg kicks etc seem brutal but I’m a lawyer not a pro fighter so asking for opinions

Would like to see a healthy Hill. That injury wasn’t that long ago and not sure if it’s healed completely.
As good as Alex is, I think Hills camp recognizes his stiffness. I think his perceived stiffness in his arms gives him some power but leaves him open to looping strikes. I think it’s important to note that Alex hasn’t lost a mental battle yet. Hills confidence could shake this matchup up a bit.

People do not give Alex enough credit, Jan took him down and he was barely able to do something with it and Alex got up. Jiri did the same thing and he was able to get up and his cardio did not betray him. Hill is a good grappler but not elite and sometimes good just isn't enough. Also, as much as he beat Glover up, he could not knock him out. If he's going to need to beat Alex's up for 5 rounds, sooner than later he's getting caught.
its the punch you don't see that gets you knocked down and POATAN has a very powerful hidden hand with those angles.
post fight, ALEX mentioned the match went according to the plan, which was jiri aiming at his takedowns, which he was successful with, ALEX is letting JIRI to let him rush in with those punches, and in mid guard time, HE HOOKS HIM, that's exactly how izzy did it against ALEX.
Alex doesn't move his head that much, and hill has good counters. Weird counters and deceptive power.
Same with hill, hands down and moving forward. Very susceptible to that check left hook.

I think Jamal's jaw is tougher than going to sleep with one shot.
I think Hill has great chances to win this. I figure the result will either be Hill by decision or Pereira by KO. I think Hill has a slight speed and MMA skillset edge, but Pereira has the edge in striking technique and one shot KO power.
So it'll be all about Hill avoiding getting caught and working angles and distance to control the fight. Hill has never shown any take down offense in the UFC, but if he has that in his tool box he might wanna throw out a couple of them to keep Pereira guessing.

I think healthy it's a much more even match, but Hill just tore his Achilles less than a year ago. If Hills Achilles isn't 100% against Alex that's concerning because Alex has dangerous leg kicks and Hill won't be able to get all his power into his punches. Still wouldnt be suprised of Hill wins hes got one of the best over hands strikes in the game and thats a punch Alex struggles with.
