Besides, Italy usually sends good performances, last year’s winners were amazing, and gained mainstream acknowledgment. And this year, Spain sent a winning performance (I guess it's the first good performance I saw from Spain, but still).

I think it's because he was being pretty rude in the greenroom - disturbing the hosts. When I was watching it did rub me in the wrong way even though I liked the song and performance - thought it would had gone to finals myself but not surprised why it didn't.
