How would I know if the clock spring no longer works or if it’s not installed right? My cruise control doesn’t work and the traction control light is on, I don’t want to buy a new clock spring if the one I have still works
Thanks you for making this video but where would you recommend me taken my car for a professional can do it because of what you said with the break and other things
just pulled wheel to replace cruise control stick. clockspring turned when installing and now i have abs, airbag, and traction lights on. going to try to go center the clockspring. really trying to avoid going to the dealer and paying for them to fix. fwiw i have a bluetooth obd2 adapter.
re center the clockspring, (there is also a window that shows when it is centered) you may also need to do the relearn procidure as well. I use my professional scanner to do this. but you MUST recenter the clockspring, or you can damage it. thanks for watching
Thanks for the instruction. I pulled it 5 times yesterday and eventually got it lined up. I didnt mess with the computer but ABS/traction work again so I guess its all good.
I have an abs code on my car. so i need to delete that code. I had the abs unplugged when doing other work and forgot to plug it in before turning on the key. All I have to do is reset the system.
The abs will reset itself usually, unless there is a permanent or constant failure. If you are in San diego I can scan the system and diagnose it for you. or you will need a scanner that can connect to the abs. most shops have something that can do this.
I have a 14' BRZ, i bought it without a functional horn. I'd like to replace the wire, which seems to be that blue one; but I dont seem to have either or the two white plugs that go into the clock spring. Could someone advise on what those are called/where to get them? I can seem to identify them even on a wiring diagram of the car. Thanks!
I wish I could see the clips better that you pushed on to get it off. I need to replace my clock spring on my 2016 outback and can't for the life of me figure out how to get it off. I've tried to push on everything in those three holes and no luck. HELP!!
what up! So the orange clip has a yellow center rectangle thingie that you pry up with a small flathead (its located on the very top of the connector) a few mm and it unlocks the connector so you can remove it. if your airback is popped, this will probably be melted and wont come off easily.
I just replaced the clockspring with in my wife’s 2015 WRX and while the airbag lite has gone away, it is now popping up with ABS and a “steep hill” light. All the plugs were a perfect fit. What... the... hell...
I have the same airbag light issue with my Subaru brz and thinking to replace the clockspring, can you please update with your situation and let me know what have happened, thanks alot
@@Is7aq So... when I replaced the clockspring the computer system went bonkers. Modern vehicles are purposefully designed to not be worked on by the owner. The dealership wanted hundreds of dollars to calibrate the "steering wheel position sensor" and at that point I convinced my wife to sell. We now have a 2000 chevy lumina. We are much happier. It gets better gas mileage, runs on regular not premium, is quiet and comfortable, it doesn't smoke on startup, and the parts for repair are cheap too. The only thing about a WRX that's better than a Lumina is that it's fast.
@@VinnyMartello Once i saw your comment I did some research and found out that miss aligning the clockspring on installation can cause the lights to pop up. According to people on forums re aligning of the clockspring will fix the issue if it hasn’t ben damaged from over spinning in the wrong direction, Anyhow I am glad that both of you are happy with your decision and its always best to go for whatever suits you. Thanks for the response.
@@Is7aq No problem. Sorry I couldnt give you much more help. It was only 4 years old when we sold it but I had that issue and then the oil consumption issues, and I told my wife "Lets sell it while it's still worth something".
@@VinnyMartello Dont be sorry actually your comment made me search about it and now I am aware so thanks alot it’s helpful, thanks for replying after 3 years 😆
time for a new clock spring. and you need to center the steering wheel through a scanner that can gain access to the abs computer in the canbus system.
i replaced the wire going to the airbag, it melts because it shoots the air bag off, you have to replace the airbag computer as well as they are usually shorted or damaged after it deploys.
Ty needed this!!!!

I want to remove my steering wheel on my auto frs and put a quick release in will I be able to?
Did your horn work before you replaced the airbag ?
question what cables go on that clock spring? not the ones for the airbag.
Where did you get your airbag from? I need Scion FR-S airbag! Where do I get one!

Hey I keep getting the clock spring code angle sensor malfunction c1231 if replace the clock spring will it go away?
Where can I buy air bag conectors
I bought a BRZ 2014 with air bag deployed, I need the air bag and what else? New clock spring? New air bag module? What else? Thanks!
need new module, airbag and clockspring, and if the seatbelt was deployed, that too.
Do I have to count the turn if my clock spring is brand new with the green plastic lever in it? My old one came apart as I removed the wheel
You should center the steering wheel and tires pointed straight ahead of course. But you should be ok.

thats good news!
Does the abs and traction control lights turn off after replacing the clock spring? Or does it need to be re-clabrated after being removed?

Where do you get another airbag? Cant find one online

@@albasrah-782 lol. I got the last one on the entire internet for $500. Good luck finding one for 2016 and up
Mark S. damm dude your so lucky I’ve been calling places to find one but no luck no one has party’s for my frs not even the seat belts fml
Do you need to replace the black melted burned wire? Is that going to cause the airbag to deploy?
i replaced the wire going to the airbag, it melts because it shoots the air bag off, you have to replace the airbag computer as well as they are usually shorted or damaged after it deploys.
