Jody Ann may I ask why you say that? The reason I ask is because I had to "get over" how my mom was in order for me to move forward in my life. I had to accept the fact that she had things go on in her child hood and life that she didn't get help for and she acted what she knew. It doesn't excuse things but it helped me to forgive, not so much for her but for me and my children.....

As a men I appreciate this conversation, after separating from my previous partner, I can see where we use to hit under the belt many times and gave a bad example to the kids we where raising, this level of understanding its deep, when Sarita said there's no need to respond to everything its told to you, silence and quiet you find confidence. you can outclass but not out trash. With today media it does not help at all neither.

As she described her childhood with the alcohol and fighting I had to catch my breath cause THAT was exactly MY CHILDHOOD! I too made the same decision that I would NOT subject a child of mine to that. When there is a disagreement I am my calmest because I know that that “other me” is there and capable of coming out and saying and doing horrific things that once unleashed cannot be taken back. I try and overshadow my anger with the fact that …. This is a man that I love, my partner whom I really don’t want to wound or crush. My spouse has passed on to Glory now. But I remember the greatest lesson that God thought me thru the worst of it. When my husband was treating me the worst, without provocation it would have been easy to reciprocate… you know, stop cooking, cleaning no intimacy. When I was at my most wounded and praying and talking to God I told him what I was feeling and what was happening. And I began that prayer with “he”. He stopped me dead in my tracks, with a simple question which I will never forget, “ are YOU being the wife I called you to be?” Waiting a minute I said, I’m taking about HIM! He said “ I know HIM, but I’m talking about you.” From that moment I clearly understood WHO I was accountable to and it changed everything about me as a wife. The meaner he got, the more soft my heart became and it became almost easy to see him every day thru lenses of kindness. My goal was simple, no matter the outcome my goal was to please God💕
