We don't have enough monster horror type movies
Totally Agree!
Too many B movie ideas they put out ..
@cooljaytdb5049 like the mainstream stuff is any better its all either prequels or sequel to old franchises.

Oh...one notable recent exception. ..GODZILLA MINUS ONE ROCKED!
I also agree
Moder is one of the most unique creature designs of the last decade and she’s featured in an incredible film.
My absolute favorite. Guillermo del toros work is incredible
@@kyledavis5646my favorite director ever ❤
The movie sucks
The book was pretty good as well, although the monster that the cultists are sacrificing people to is a big more mysterious in the book.
The bear in annihilation was cool looking, but that scream roar combo is one of the most unsettling noises used in a movie since the little ghost boy in the grudge.
That movie was lame.
I quit during the half when I saw the evil plant infects human for the 3rd time and it's just too much. Alien & The Thing looks like animal and can be convincing parasite while the flowers as parasite really is too creepy and disgusting
Thr kathoga from The Relic was pretty shocking. People seem to forget about that thing. I remember spending most of the movie with my hands over my eyes.
The first scene where you only hear its labored breathing is impressively unsettling.
I'm so surprised to never see this one pop up in any list I watch. The Relic was such a fun movie and I was decidedly too young the first time I saw it.
The breathing is what made it super creepy…
I spit out my drink when you mentioned how “the deadly spawn” doesn’t pay rent 🤣🤣
The Smile Entity is something born straight out of a nightmare
The illustration of that Pale Woman was always the scariest drawing in any of the books to me. Still remember the story was called The Dream.
Harold was my nightmare fuel. The pale lady always seemed benign in the drawing to me.
The Skull Bear is one of the few times in modern horror movies that's actually terrified me beyond the movie it's in. That damn scream gave me the creeps for days after watching Annihilation.
Amen!
I've mentioned this one before, but I still feel it's worth a mention: the creeper from jeepers creepers. the subversion of expectations with the villain being revealed to not be your average human slasher killer (nor human at *all,* for that matter. well, outside his stollen human body parts) like we've been led to believe is absolutely great, in my opinion. I get it's probably not on here due to victor salva's connection to the film. but if you take the movie (and that scene) by its own merit, I still think it's worth noting.
Oh that's a good one
yes! While I think the reveal of his full monster form is a bit off. The scene where they're learning about him while he casually eats the cops he killed was a great moment and reveal
The Cthulhu reveal in Underwater deserves a shout
And the Deep Ones too.
I'd also argue that the various monsters in the 2007 "The Mist" were all really well done. The giant dinosaur-sized thing near the end was more awe-inducing than horrific, but the way it was revealed was wonderful.
The monster from the Ritual is one of the best monster designs ever.
Moder was one of the best monsters I've ever seen. You can just look at it and tell it's a pagan god. I love movie monsters that force the protags to confront their worst fears and traumas. Moder and Babadook are perfect examples of this.
It was great to see one of Keith Thompson's designs depicted in such a way.
Skull bear in Annihilation really messed me up.
Right there with you
The Manitou. That one freaked me out, when I was a kid.
The reveal of the alien figure in The Thing (the dog cage) was horrifying
I know a lot of people didnt like Malignant but dang that Gabriel JaiL scene was effing AWESOME.
I LOVE MALIGNANT ❤❤❤
@@Kiera_Spooky yea! Finally someone who liked it! I know a lot of horror yt channels ripped it apart as well as the press (who imo wouldnt know a good movie without an incentive if it bit em on the arse)
Malignant is one of the best horror movie imo.👍
They stole the whole premise of that movie from one scene in terrifier 2 and they had to change the ending because of it so that’s why people hate it plus it’s just not good
@@paulysmallz8095 ? What scene in Terrifier 2? What are you on about? Also, it is good IMO
That. Freaking. Bear. For me, it was literal nightmare fuel. I had to go on a research jaunt of actual bear maulings to get it out of my head. The percentage of bear attacks that are predatory vs territorial or protecting cubs is much higher than I would have guessed. The more you know!
Alien and its two epic reveals. The iconic chestburster scene, and when the fully grown xeno sneaks up on Brett
There’s actually a human skull sort of blended to the side of the bear skull. To make it even more horrifying.
_Malignant_ is such a batshit crazy movie. It reads like a film version of a gloriously unhinged '80s paperback horror novel.
Malignant is such an underrated film in my opinion. I'm glad it made it onto this list!
I don't know how I knew that Gabriel was going to be the girl just from the trailers, but I still enjoy the movie for what it was
The Skeleton-Bear gets even more creepy if you've read the Area X/Southern Reach series. (It replaced the Moaning Monster from the books). The reason the bear's repeating Cassie's dying screams is that the bear, in eating part of her, *merged with her consciousness.* Most of the horrors in Area X are combinations of two or more living things, involuntarily mashed together by the abomination that is spawning it. The bear isn't just repeating Cassie's dying screams, *it is feeling her final agony.* As terrifying as the bear is, it's just one more victim of Area X.
The aliens from the Aliens franchise will always be the most terrifying of any alien ever created to me.
Although it’s not really a horror movie, Pan’s Labyrinth had one of the creepiest creature designs in all of cinema (IYKYK).
I thought the Wendigo was a creature that was around from people who turned to cannibalism, not possessed by a spirit. I may be wrong, but I think it’s right 🤔
It's more right than the deer skulled monster it's become, it's definitely not a spirit
Is Alien a horror movie? If so the chest burster scene puts all these to shame.
Should’ve been #1
Yes, it's a Sci-Fi Horror.
If you haven’t seen that as a horror fan, can you really say your a horror fan?
Love the monster from antlers but the movie itself, could have been better. Also the monster in "The ritual" and the "Skull Bear", is just amazing.
I love that Belial has a cameo in the movie Brain damage.
The Relic (1997) should get a shout out in the next list
I have always been a monster guy. Dont get me wrong though i love slashers and psychology mindblenders but monsters just have this bigger then life aura.
Gabriel fighting skills is a 10! That thing kick the sh*t out of everything.
The Pale Lady was such an amazing design - captured the book perfectly
Dammit! !!!!!! COMB! ( Choking on my beverage) about the "lets hope the Army has a giant Flip flop" quip - Brilliant!
As an aside, the short story “The Quiet Boy”, in which “Antlers” is based, is so, so good. Def worth a read, and very different from the movie in a number of thematic ways.
Seen all of these except Antlers which i will rectify. Definitely agree with your no.1 choice. That was a twist I did not see coming.
Unfortunately antlers is not a good movie. The monster was well designed but then somehow becomes completely non lethal in the last bit of the film. It was really lame.
@@mherrjit was weak after it eats.
What about the titular monster from 2023's The Boogeyman? Apparently, they had to add an additional 45 seconds of film at the creature's reveal to give the audience time to stop screaming. So I've heard, anyway.
The. Mom/son thing from Color Out of Space!
The Ritual is amazing all horror fans should watch it. I’d add the final monster from The Void to this list. The Sarah Monster
The Mimics from Edge of Tomorrow had a pretty cool design. Not a horror movie, but still a fun watch.
Regarding 5! Are you serious? Norway has the giant trolls who can blend in seamlessly with the scenery. If you're scared of stuff, just stay at home. The North is not for whimps. xD
The smiling demon in 'Smile' is also a really jarring reveal.
I loved the Ritual
The giant flip flop comment caught me off guard 😂
The Skull Bear is heavily inspired by the Alzabo from the science-fantasy novels by Gene Wolfe called 'The Book of the New Sun'. The Alzabo is a bear/wolf-like alien that upon eating someone, temporarily absorbs their memories and 'becomes' them, luring family members of the deceased to their doom. The bile of the Alzabo is also used by cults in ritual cannibalism to absorb the memories of those sacrificed. Great book series and a literary masterpiece of SFF, but a demanding read. Big Dark Souls vibes, imo.
You need to watch Cobwebs. You missed probably the best movie and monster reveal in ages.
I feel like "Cobweb" deserves to be on this list, more than "Cloverfield". Nice to see "Apollo 18" get a mention, was a decent enough flick.
Why does everyone think Malignant had such a huge twist, no one could have figured it out? It was actually kind of obvious.. When it shows the killer before the "big reveal", you can see the limbs are backwards. It has her hair. She wakes up with blood on the back of her head after every kill and the movies name is literally Malignant 😂
I saw The Deadly Spawn in NYC around 1981 or 1982. Fantastic.
How everyone always forget The Relic and Mimic?
It’s not Cassies’s mind in the skull bear, it’s her death. The bear is half bear half death that’s why the skull, that’s why its voice is Cassie crying for help. The bear doesn’t walk in and go “hey it’s me Cassie you would not believe the day I’m having!” That would be her mind lol
Can I just say I appreciate, deadly spawn and basket case getting shoutouts :> needs more of it.
Please consider doing a part two with older films. Night of the Demon (1957) and Phantom of the Opera (1925) are classic examples.
I don't normally watch horror, but The Ritual was a good movie
The Deadly Spawn is a very underrated horror film! Highly recommended!!❤❤❤❤
I feel like Jean Jacket from Nope should be on here as well
I agree!
Just want to say - very funny commentary. Best part of the video
I'm not a monster, I'm merely a victim of circumstance.
What about Ītzpāpālōtl from No One Gets Out Alive? That thing creepy as hell.
So where is the creature from that is shown in the first few seconds of this video? It's never mentioned, is it?
The Ritual movie is one of the best horror movies of all time.
The wendigo at number 2, I’ll take it, at least this movie is becoming more recognized when originally labeled as the most obscure movie I have ever seen, while this movie has its flaws, if you want a wendigo movie, this is the one for you
Not a horror movie in the slightest, but the Kraken in Pirates of the Caribbean 2. When it's unleashed we see it tear an entire ship into the water so fast the two men on board don't even have time to scream. But than we get the actual attack. The ship getting caught on "reefs", and trying to figure out how to unwedge the ship only for the captain to be torn off the deck and thrown into the air as the tentacles burst out of the water and start attacking the ship. Nothing has compared to it for me. It's a fantastic reveal
Dusk Till Dawn!! It wasn’t even a monster movie till last 15 minutes
I honestly feel like The Jangly Man had an amazing reveal in Scary Stories.
Yes! The only thing that's actually scared me for a long time. I watch horror every night and don't get frightened, I just like the genre- but that jangly bastard. Ugh.
Jason's intro will always be #1 for me, as far as monsters, made me jump off the couch when I was a wee pup. Maybe not a monster, but Leatherface's intro in the original TCM also messed with me, happened faster than I could process. Tarman in Return of the Living Dead gets my vote for best Zed intro & still remains the alpha zombie in my books.
Skull bear was soooo creepy
Malignant was bad ass fr
Even monsters needs a dramatic flair!
I feel it's also worth mentioning that Gabriel can fucking throw hands!
Can you guys start putting a list in the description so I don't have to spoil the movies to find out what they are?
Not even making this up.
I was 14, my step dad woke me up from my sleep around midnight.
John, he says, come watch this.
So, bleary, i go down stairs and the VHS is paused on the morning scene.
Serene canoe floating on a lake, cop car in the background. No sound.
Then BOOM!
I jump out of my skin - the adrenaline rush was awesome.
I stayed up and watched the entire movie, and jumped again at the end.
To this day, I consume EVERY horror movie made. The good, the bad and the ugly.......
They’re not moon spiders they’re moon crabs 🦀 but good video
as a swede i can confirm that if you visit any place in sweden you will probably stumble into some random supernatural cult
What about the Korean movie The Wailing? The ending scene is one of the best I’ve ever seen in total cinema. Masterful horror without jump-scares
No mention of the Chestburster scene in Alien???
One of the MOST iconic monster reveals ever?!
Or John Carpenters The Thing when the monster finally reveals itself?
for me it will always be xenomorph from alien franchise, it gave me so much nightmares
The Taking of Deborah Logan, Rec, Baskin, and The Wailing have the creepiest monsters imo
I'm quite glad the mutated bear from Annihilation is on this list I'll be real. That creature left me scared of turning corners for like, 3 weeks. Scared the pants off me. Annihilation is a fantastic movie though, nonetheless, and I highly recommend it to anyone willing to listen.
EDIT: OH SHIT U DID INCLUDE ANNIHILATION!! u just chose NOT what i thought u would but ill take it. that movie is ALL time for me so shoutout
i was REALLY hoping u had cloverfield in here just cuz i feel this is the EPITOME of this video and i wouldnt be surprised if it was the reason this vid was made.
and idk if this COUNTS tbh... but the end of annihilation FUCKED me the fuck up. the whole lighthouse scene
Antlers is a very underrated movie.
Jason zombie form was part 6 and he looks the most badass in part 7
Malignant was the best comedy of the 2020s.
Malignant is an awesome movie
Honestly i think Antlers hit it harder.
Underwater didn’t get any love?
moon spiders.....😑 no.....
Luna Ticks 😁
The Ritual 😮💨😮💨
You missed the being from Smile that tears out of the body of it's victim. I prefer monsters to paranormal ghosts.
Shocking? Hardly. Shocking monster reveals, to me, include Norman Bates (OK, a human monster), cenobites in Hellraiser, the brood in The Brood and Alien.
“Mes-er-mizing?” “Moon mishal”? Can you not afford to do a second take?
Malignant is basically a remake of Basket Case.
what about the smile entity?
we realy dont have the same definition of whats Shocking
What about the reveal from „beyond the aquila rift“ from love death robots Season 1?
Queen Alien will always be number 1
Has anyone ever seen Predator, Alien, The Thing, or The Fly???
Alien and the chest burster
Jason? *clicks off
Yeah, we both know that's not true.
Antlers, effing brilliant.
