As long as I wasn't scared of what we were watching, I was allowed to watch it lol. Just not the X rated scenes, cause you know, parental advisory 😂 But most movies don't really scare me nowadays and it takes alot to scare me after that. But The Descent scared me SHITLESS. not because of the monsters, or the gore, it's the atmosphere. Being in an enclosed space, and the lighting and the visual storytelling, it almost gives you a panic attack just watching it. It scared me because that is arguably something that can happen. I wasn't scared of Nightmare on Elm Street or Hellraiser because that couldn't really happen. But The Descent is plausible and that freaked the hell out of me man. @@pateris agreed. I think it’s because familial relationships aren’t represented as often as romantic relationships in media (with horror being a prominent case).
@@KingDomsKingdom85 true. Perhaps I should’ve said “most of these”, with the thing being the most prominent exception.
@@tfmaster96 Most indeedy !
PumpkinHead finally getting some long overdue love!!
I think one that could make the list is the bear from Annihilation. The thing’s skull is protruding from the massive, mangy body. Not to mention the fact that it mimics its victims screams as it’s eaten alive. That thing is straight nightmare fuel.
Good list! I especially appreciate that The Ritual made #1, an extremely underrated film!
Great video good job guys 👏
Was really hoping the Queen reveal in Aliens would make the list. As a kid I literally gasped when Ripley was looking up and she started moving 😅
Same!
The girl in the barn in Slither is Whoa moment too...does that count??? 🤣🤣🤣
That's more gross then scary , not to mention the worms entering through people's mouth after that ..
The Batmobile reveal from The Batman felt like a monster reveal
I can't recommend _Lake Mungo_ highly enough. Very understated, and the creative double-use of visuals (first you see it, then you REALLY see it) through the "documentary" was very unsettling.
The reveal of the Alien with Dallas in the crawlspace in the first film scared the crap out of me ... should have been number 1 on this list
I thought it was a no-brainer for this list too. Arguably the best jump scare in movie history.
Sweetheart! The flare lighting up the dark as it slowly falls into the ocean, revealing the creature standing on the beach watching the whole thing? Chilling.
What movie was that??
Mr Barlow makes his first appearance in Salem's Lot has always been my favorite monster reveal that continues to creep me out to this day.
Been so long. Is that in the jail when he pops straight up or in the kitchen when he rises from his cape? (Or is my memory totally shot and none of this happened? lol)
@bmbiz yes both are terrifying. Barlow is first seen in the jail then he enters the home and is just a cape rolling on the floor before slowly rising and kills the couple by smashing their heads together grabs the young boy and confronts the priest with the cross and kills him. Both of your memories are correct.
@@raypenny9013 Yes! I guess I shouldn't have doubted my memory given the impression that movie had on me (i.e. it scared the crap out of me!) Thanks for confirming!
@@bmbiz you are very welcome
I'm 41,,,, still my favourite reveal n horror movie of all time,,,,truly fkn terrifying
The reveal in The Descent was the scariest I have ever seen.
My grandma is a very religious woman and her whole life she never watched any horror movies until Pumpkin Head came out in '88 and she has seen this movie several and I mean SEVERAL times throughout all these years. It's one of her favorites and still the only horror flick she's ever watched in her life🤷🏾♀️🤣🤣🤣
That explains why pumpkin head scarred me as a child 😂😂
Oh my! I was obsessed with Deadly Spawn! I saw it as a teen at my local VHS store and couldn't remember the name of it to save my life! Thank you algorithm for dishing me this video!
Yeah, that scene from The Taking of Debra Logan was prolly the freakiest I’ve ever seen.
unsettling
The aztec creature/god in 'No one gets out Alive' is a recent fav 😄
The Ritual is a gem.
Great video 🤩💥 Thanks for sharing 😊🍿🎥
Pumpkinhead getting recognition makes me happy.
The Funhouse had a great monster intro scene. The whole scene set up worked well to show him for the first time.
So super happy to see 'The Deadly Spawn' get a shoutout
Absolutely agree with #1!!!
That movie FREAKED ME TF OUT
Absolutely loved Barbarian's reveal of The Mother!
I loved the ritual. I wish more films were made like that.
The ritual was really good, I particularly liked the scene when they literally walk past the monster and once they've passed it moves and we never even knew it was there.
The ritual was a pretty good reveal. Good job Tilly.
Tomorrow war's first reveal of the white spikes in the stairway is cinema gold
I thought the bear/human hybrid in Annihalation was terrifying.
Moder is so memorable. Design is unique, creative, and terrifylingly divine.
The moment where the creature in the Ritual showed up though a door frame, bowed down so it could look inside.
That creeped me out so bad when I first watched it, it deserved the spot on this list for sure, so good choice.
I have never heard of Moder- but WOW! Definitely a great pic for Number one!
I'm like a lot of horror enthusiasts, I grew up watching horror, your Nightmare on Elm Streets, Friday the 13ths, Texas Chainsaw, Halloween, Childs Play, Hellraiser, etc. And to those that don't understand, my pops and auntie were awesome af. As long as I wasn't scared of what we were watching, I was allowed to watch it lol. Just not the X rated scenes, cause you know, parental advisory 😂
But most movies don't really scare me nowadays and it takes alot to scare me after that.
Imagine going on an adventure, getting lost in really closed caves and not knowing what can come after you, all the while you're panicking and worried about falling and hurting yourself. Such an amazing movie.
Yes, I think the "man vs nature" part was almost as scary as the creatures !
@@pateris for real! I watched this with my mom and I swear I almost had a panic attack watching the parts when they had to squeeze through the tighter spots. Neil Marshall did an amazing job and you can tell that he understands *how to freak people out* and that's rare nowadays in horror or even thriller films lol.
So f’n great to have one of your lists, Tilly!
Just found this…
The premise in The Doppelgänger is spot on. It’s a Medieval concept that those soon to die may meet with an image of themselves already dead. It’s a momento mori.
