Agreed! On our last cruise on Ovation we chose Jamie’s over Chops Grille and did not regret it. We’ve been to Jamie’s on land too and always enjoy it. The sharing planks are a great way to start your meal and the pasta is flavourful. Wonderland was a fantastic special experience as it was about more than just the food. Thanks for your thoughts guys 😁

I had Jamie's for lunch on Symphony-of-the-Seas as part of my room package. It was sooo good. And the waiter could really tell we had never been before and helped us pick options as well as bringing us some things he thought we would like.

Great tips! It's been 15 years since my last cruise. The ships I was on, didn't have specialty restaurants yet. They were just adding the to the ships when I moved north. I'm looking forward to cruising on Celebrity Equinox this November. We've reserved a night at La Petite Chef at Qsine. We also reserved a spot for my husband and I to try our hand at glass blowing. This will be his first cruise. We've heard that Sushi on Five is another spot to hit, so we plan on checking them out as well.

Jamie's is FANTASTIC. We never miss it - went twice on our last cruise. The crispy squid is a favorite, so is the meat plank, pasta vongole, steak, lamb chops, I could go on...we've never had a bad dish there.

great video boys, very interesting :) i was interested to hear your review for chops grille as we are booked on our first RCCL cruise in nov 2023 and had been considering booking for dinner one night here, but have been tossing the idea around because its very expensive $94 AUD. each person. we have never ever paid that much money for a meal each, but i think we will give it a miss this time around. thx for your advice :)

Just got off of my first Royal cruise yesterday. We did Chops twice and were totally not impressed overall, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! Biggest letdown was the Bearnaise sauce which was not at all flavorful. 150 Central Park was great, Giovanni's was amazing, Sabor for lunch was like a mid-range mexican restaurant.

When we went to Chops on Anthem I stupidly "snacked" while feeding my son at the Windjammer so I wasn't that hungry. I ended up getting the salmon which was nice but not worth the price. I loved Wonderland but not everyone's cuppa tea.

I agree with your reviews. On our cruise on Explorer of the Seas we were very impressed with Giovanni's Table and Izumi, less so with Chops and Johnny Rockets. We also were not impressed with the service in the main dining room for breakfast and lunch.

  • @rexy83
    @rexy83 Před 4 lety

Great video guys! Favorite specialty restaurants Wonderland my wife and I enjoyed it on Anthem of the Seas, Izumi was excellent on Granduer of the Seas in fact probably my favorite. Sorrentos can't go wrong who doesn't want pizza as an option for 24hours? Johnny Rockets I agree I get why Royal Caribbean has them they first appeared on Voyager class ships and were one of the first specialty restaurants, but now pretty irrelevant. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Royal drops them in the near future. Chops is okay I had chops on Mariner and Empress and it was really good on Empress. But on a larger ship with more options I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Chops. Also don't forget the food in the main dining room is usually excellent and you can't go wrong!

Totally agree with you guys about chops grille . I've cruised on RCI many times & always made a point of going to chops . But I'd say on the last 3 occasions have been disappointed with the quality of food for the steep price . My last chops experience on Harmony of the seas was the worst service I've had on any of my previous 20 cruises . On the same b2b cruise I went to 150 Central Park & without doubt that was the best speciality meal I've ever had , 1st class service & amazing food .

I do believe that the Chops experience varies by ship from reviews and personal experience. RCCL must have seen a decline in reservations for CG since they replaced the BOGO with Chops plus 1; now you're forced to go to Chops with their least expensive package. I am looking forward to another attempt at Giovanni's on my upcoming Indy cruise, since I tried it on Jewel and seasickness took over. What I tasted was great, but I did not dare swallow lol.

My wife and I sailed on Allure recently. Johnny Rockets staff was incredible, food was good too, especially for breakfast. We loved Izumi (we did it twice). We did Chops maybe 3 times and the Filet was so tender, Giovanni's was pretty good, there was one pasta dish that we didn't care for and I think our server agreed with our assessment. Sabor was great food, but the staff was lackluster. We did not like 150 Central Park at all, best part was the bread at the start of the meal. We also didn't like the main dining room for breakfast (they put a buffet in the middle of it and it just feels like you're in a fancy version of the Windjammer) Also didn't care to much for Samba Grill. We're interested in trying Wonderland on a future cruise!

I agree 100% regarding Johnny Rockets. I have eaten on the Independence and Oasis. Both were dripping with grease and nothing special. The burgers are the same as the Windjammer albeit slightly larger or small (can never remember which). The shakes are really tasty and one of the main reasons we go there. I didnt realise it was part of the drinks package ??? I really didnt rate Giovannis and found the food to be bland and boring. However the menu has shrunk so much in the MDR and the Wind Jammer gets very busy; very clever RCL. We are cruising with RCL once more this Dec and then trying MSC next July to experience something different.

We loved wonderland! Johnny rockets was okay it was greasy but I thought it was tasty but the only thing you can't get on the rest of the ship for free is those onion rings and it doesn't seem like it's worth $12 just for the onion rings so you're probably right on that one. I found the main dining room choices to be outstanding and very little reason to pay extra to go someplace else other than someplace like wonderland which you can't do on shore and it was fabulous it was visually spectacular and it was also tasty!

I agree with you about Johnny Rockets and Chops. I would rather have Guy's Burgers on Carnival over Johnny Rockets anyday - much tastier plus no cover charge. I thought the filet at Chops was better than Cagney's but the appetizers and sides were better at Cagney's. I also preferred Izumi Hibachi over NCL's Teppinyaki.

G'day from Melbourne, Australia, oh my god, Jamie's Italian is, was ABSOLUTE HEAVEN on my November 2018 cruise to Hobart, Tasmania, the best ever lamb chop I've ever had.
I ABSOLUTELY had to have Tiramisu, and it was explained that the chef had dramas serving it in individual servings, "the serving was so heavy it collapsed under it's own weight", and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, highly recommend, on Ovation OTS. I hate to disagree with you guys (Ben and David) but I love Chops Grill I’ve had dinner twice and lunch once there and it was amazing, but that was my experience. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 we will be on another cruise soon. Also a bit of advice if some people want to save money but still get to enjoy the food at the speciality restaurants they do lunch deals too, pretty much the same menu but cheaper than the evening dinner options. 😉🚢🇮🇪⚓️

We sailed on Symphony of the Seas the first week of November 2021. We purchased the unlimited dining package and ate at a different speciality restaurant each of the seven nights. While we found each one to be superb, by far the best was Hooked Seafood. There was a relatively minor incident where we were seated, but had to wait 40 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. We mentioned it to a manager who promptly treated us like royalty through the meal. He began by giving us a complimentary bottle of champagne, not a glass or two, but the whole bottle. In addition to what we ordered, the waitress kept brining us other items from the menu throughout the meal including two different types of whole lobsters! There was so much food that we couldn't possibly finish it all. The waitress packed up all the leftovers to take back to our cabin. The waitress, by the way, was delightful and she serenaded us with a song in a voice so lovely she should have been singing in a show. All in all, it was the best night of the cruise. I reccomend adding Hooked as a requirement when selecting your next cruise ship.

I thought Chops Grille was amazing. I had never had a steak or salmon that good before (they gave me both). I don't remember the sides though, but I remember leaving there thinking that was the best restaurant on the ship.
Johnny Rockets is supposed to be greasy. It's like an old fashioned burger dive in the heartland of America.
We don't eat sushi so we skipped that place. Giovanni's table was great. Honestly, with two kids (they were 12 and 7 at the time), we spent a lot of time at Sorrentos and the Windjammer. Wonderland wasn't on our ship, we were on Allure of the Seas. October '17

I'm considering Teppnyaki on Odyssey of the Seas and purchasing a three night dining package. My question is there a surcharge for this restaurant?

A good restaurant for embarkation day is park cafe as it usually not to busy and always nice for what it is

Jamie's was awesome on the Harmony last December. Agree on Johnny Rockets - did not enjoy Savor either. We loved Chops. Ate at all the specialty restaurants.
So so on Wonderland, eh on 150, Loved Jamie's for lunch & dinner. Savor was a disappointment. Will be trying Hooked in December onboard the Symphony and of course Chops and Jamie's.

I know this video is over a year old, but, i was on the Oasis of the Seas, Chops wasn't that great there either. Mine was a Dec. 8th 2019 trip. Steaks were over cooked vegetables were also over cooked. Fish was also overcooked Only good thing i had there was the shrimp cocktail

We are at chops and we liked it so it might have came down to the ship. Your preference could be that as well.

Could not agree more about Chops Grille. The service we had was lacking, and left me wishing I had just gone to the main dining room for dinner instead. I felt like a station some cooking game where literally the bare minimum was being accomplished. The other grievance I had with Chops is that I found a wine I really enjoyed and was having all over the ship, but when I went to order it at Chops, I was told I could not get it as they have their own bar; which turned out to be just a medium size cooler with like 8 bottles of wine. So I spent extra for the opportunity of great food and amazing service, but got borderline poor service and decent food. 2/10 would not eat again.

I agree about Johnny rocket's , I tried it on the Allure and it was terrible. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and it had a large gristle type thing right through the middle, very poor quality chicken. My family had the burger and said it was awful. We were one of 2 tables dining at the time and service was so slow. Fries were bland. They should remove this dining option for their ships. It's a 0 out of 10 and Guy's on Carnival is a 10.

There's a Brazilian Steakhouse on Allure of the Seas. It's in the Solarium and it's called The Samba Grill. It was OH MY GOD DELICIOUS!! I rarely if ever hear anyone else mention this restaurant and I don't know why it's overlooked. Also, I haven't seen it on any other Royal ship. They bring 5 or 6 different skewers of meats to your table in separate servings and slice it for you right there. Lamb, beef, pork, chicken, seafood. You can have some of each! They offer choices of big bowls of side dishes and veggies. All so deliciously prepared and seasoned. The ambiance of the quiet solarium with it's GORGEOUS views and beautiful night time lighting makes it extra special. You absolutely feel pampered and walk away stuffed to the gills!! A must try!!

We too love Giovanni Table! It got better steak and better value then Chops Grille! It’s also better then Jamie’s Italian, and we are disappointed as Royal Caribbean have replaced it with Jamie’s in some of their ships.
We find Wonderland a little gimmicky. Izumi was “meh” for us. Johnny Rockets used to be better (perhaps depend on ship?).

100% for us yes. If you have not done royal before, try the regular dining first. But if you want something different its nice to try lots of different places. We talk about it in our latest vlog.

    Ok Fellas,
Now you have to do one of these for NCL Bilss dining!!!
We are sailing for the first time in a Norwegian ship (after 15 RCCL cruises) and I need the lowdown STAT!!! I convinced 20 DIE HARD RCCL cruisers to try NCL BLISS and they are giving me a hard time about the differences between the two lines and we haven't even started our NCL trip yet.
BUT if the food is good then they will be sold.
    Please HELP,😱

      @Cruisewith  Před 4 lety

Hey. Have your seen our Bliss ship tour yet? We had fantastic meals in Food Republic, Cagney's, Le Bistro and Los Lobos. Teppanyaki was good, not as good as Royal in our opinion, and we had La Cucina on Breakaway which was good but again not as good as the other places.

I don’t know, you can get steak anywhere and usually I’d rather just make it myself for far cheaper at home since that’s one if the few things I make well. Steak restaurants for me are really about the bread service and sides, not the steak itself.
