There's no paranoia when it comes to ticks. Concerns are justified. I'm really enjoying your hike, and look forward to following you to the end of the Appalachians.
Yeah ! the Christmas box arrived ! Doesn't it feel like Christmas when you open those up...lol Happy Trails ! Hope you get some dry days for a change....just because different is nice sometimes...lol
I hike in and camp on the trail by the Chipola River around the 14:45 mark. It took over a year to get that section opened after Hurricane Micheal. Still rough at the campsites. I've been seeing a lot of hikers the last couple three weeks. I guess it's about the peak of the season here. Good luck.
It is rational to be very careful about the ticks. Spray your gear and clothes. Besure to wear gloves, long sleeves, and a good respirator when applying the permethrin. I even treat the brim of my boonie hat to cut down on gnats. Good Luck, Rick
I don’t know how you you keep tramping through Florida. Bugs, dogs and swamps. I had to lol ar right turn horse. So glad there are some Christian churches out there for you.
New shoes AND new dry socks! What's next? Egg in your beer? (Actually, it looks more like egg in your water . . . hmm . . . might be an improvement! It is indeed the simple pleasures (dry socks, favorite trail foods, a dry place to camp, clean water, a chance pizza or coke, etc. that mean so much when hiking. Doing great Masochist the Purist! Hike on! Tortoise
I keep talking to non hikers along the trail who are terrified at the thought of snakes and bears out here and I end up explaining how the biggest issues have all been loose aggressive dogs charging out of peoples yards
Idk seems like watching the Florida videos gives me the sense of a bad vibe. It looks deforested :(, although it sounds like some people are nice it feels like their are alot of not so nice people that can really ruin a persons day there.
Some of the areas are but others are incredibly lush. Overall I really enjoyed how different the trail is. Also the amount of work and care put into the trail was really awesome
One of my most favorite things in the entire world is a new pair of socks. Only hikers know that joy!

Does anyone else hear that weird voice at 2:43?
I bleeped out my own curse word with a voiceover because I’ve got a family member who always comments when I swear.
I thought maybe he farted & tried to play it off.
Really love how the churches ⛪️ extend such hospitality to thru hikers. 👍🏻🤗🏕
It’s not all of them but a good number of the southern Baptist churches were very welcoming
Worked hurricaine Michael for 4 months in that area. I know all those roads and gas stations 😁
Thanks for showing the church. I didn't recognize the name, but knew it from the picture. It's good to know they are helping hikers.

I completely agree with you on the coffee supply. 🤠 Rock on!
This makes me want to never visit Florida period forget hiking.
Look up Patton Oswalt's routine on Florida... it's hilarious (and reinforces your comment).
enjoyed , thanks
I came here by way of Kyle Hates Hiking
I like 👍 this

Looks like a left turn. Hehe
The places your mind gets to
The name of that tree is pronounced Tie Tie. But I kind of like the way you say it.
I may have been aware of that. But I stand by my pronunciation as superior :)

Gotta love your attitude 👍
Looks like hurricane or tornado damage in the latter miles
Am I correct thinking you are finished with swamp walking 😁
Based on the fact I fell into a waist deep bog last night I’m thinking I’m not quite done with swamp hiking
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes Hope that was the last of any deep water hike on bro ☮

@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes the farther you get out in the boonies the worse it gets. Pain in the ass.
How do you keep your feet healthy when they wet all of the time?
Dry socks at night. They can be wet all day as long as they get a break
Impressive!!

What?! 😳
Carry a cheep Hamic
Love your vids. But, there is something strange about a man that doesn't like dogs. It's even worse when dogs don't like you.
He did say in a prior video that he had a traumatic incident with a dog attack when he was young.
Fyi. Dogs kno if u dont like or trust them. Ur stress reeks. U have to have strong body language and a confident demeanor
Also a big stick wouldn't hurt either
Dogs rule.
@@dsilverleaf4668 my dog would take your leg off if you wielded a stick at him. :)
