    I have to say your channel is one of my favorite CZcams channels. I am building myself a customized inflatable boat to trout fish on the local river here. I've built hardwood carpeted floors, put in fishing seats, trolling motor. Between your excellent footage and your eye for DIY I am hooked like your snook! You're inspiring me to start my own videos here on YT.

    hey marty! you literally have inspired me to kayak fish im a 17 year old kid living in miami and ive always been interested in kayaks and fishing from small boats in general but man! you put that into a whole new perspective for me! thank you ! and one question- does that twitch twitch twitch pause Technic only apply to snook and redfish? im wondering becouse usually when i fish shallow water i only go for barracuda personally my favorite and i wanted to know if that technic can work for the cudas! thanks once again marty!

    • @zoffinger
      @zoffinger  Před 10 lety +2

      Sup, Henry! I have never caught a cuda, so I'm not sure. I learned to use it on Snook and Redfish by trying. Folks would tell me to slow it down, but not till a couple times when I paused to get a drink or something and got a bite, did I really see the technique in action. Ever since then, I've had it it work for me many times (even when the guy next to me is getting no bites) Try it out! :)

    You're an awesome dude and I really love your videos! Seriously a real cool style of filming and always some fun catches! I just wanting to poke a little tip towards ya if it's not seen as rude, when you're landing a fish pointing the pole towards it often leads to the hook slipping from the mouth of the fish; I noticed some of your "long line releases" as their fun to call were caused by just that, when the tip gets too pointed towards the fish they pop the hook out. But keep on fishin' and having a good time, and definitely keep the videos coming! Take care and as always, keep a tight line!

    • @zoffinger
      @zoffinger  Před 10 lety

      I still need lots of help and my subscribers have been very kind to offer advice. Tips like that can make me a better fisherman, so, thanks!

    • @creekside6305
      @creekside6305 Před 10 lety

      Agreed on this tip. Never point the tip of the rod straight at the fish. Let the rod act as the shock absorber and you can also play with your drag settings in case you do hook up with a beast. But too tight of a drag and pointing the rod tip can equate to the loss of a fish of a lifetime for sure. I lost a monster Walleye the other day on the lake because I failed to check the drag on my dad's rod. He took off, slammed my rod down and the drag was way too high and snap! Broke me right off. I am a long time Fly Fisherman and this is very critical when Fly Fishing. Using the light tippet we do requires it. I used to live in Clearwater man, I would paddle my kayak out around Anclote key all the time. I did not fish out of it though. I took a Hawaiian sling ot once and thought I was going to spear fish. That did not go well LOL!

    • @zoffinger
      @zoffinger  Před 10 lety

      The pan was a happy accident. The camera monopod was a few feet into the water and wouldn't go very deep in the hard ground at the launch. Partway through the shot, it tipped over backwards into the water. Good thing I had the waterproof housing on and the float attached!

      Thanks, Deanon. I felt funny giving such 'old man' like advice, not knowing what level of experience you might already have on the water, but knowing that I inspire folks to venture out onto the water makes me feel obligated to say the obvious. Oddly enough, just today (12/20) in The Tampa Bay Times, there is an article about a 24 year old man that died from hypothermia in 65 degree water when his boat capsized a mile offshore! I heard about it in the local forums where the old timers were repeating the same advice I gave you. I took it to heart as well.

I am ashamed to say I would have started throwing rocks around his boat... big ones! You showed him up but good by catching fish and she with all his gear got zip.. .I am a bad person but I will be damned I would let him slime up next to me like that ... miles of shore line and he had to go right there... he could have gone out from the mouth but NO he has to part 50 ft from you.. you are mellow.. calming kind of guy.. I would have warned him off and then it was rocks ! next life I will be more calm.. Peace

      Deanon, I lived very close to the water for many years, oblivious to the great fishing that was so close to me. A girl got me to buy a kayak. A co-worker convinced me to start fishing from it. And then local anglers taught me about artificial lures and the spots to launch from.
      If you are interested in buying a kayak, you are already on your path.
      Time on the water will show you things you haven't even thought of yet. And there are some nice folks out there that will no doubt teach you about your local fishery.
      Be humble. Be respectful. Be safe. And you will learn.
      I envy the fact that your journey into kayak fishing is about to begin. It is the best of times.
      My first tip to you would be to respect mother nature. She can be a real b!*ch.
      Catching fish is ALWAYS second to coming home safely.
