@robbyddurham1624 You could say that Sam's character was a traumatized Vietnam vet which was why it was such a touchy subject for him, especially when someone told him inaccurate information on it (the girl's response on why US troops were pulled out). But Sam got just as set off when talking about the Korean War with Rodney, was Sam a veteran of that war too? You can believe Vietnam, especially if he went out there during the last years of it (1973-1975), but he looked too young to have been at least 18 at the time of the Korean War since that was the early 1950s

If it was scripted, they did an excellent fucking job of it. Every time I saw it, it turned out completely different and funny as hell. One of the girls snarked back. Sam called her and said, "Hey, I'm sitting here with Jared and about 5000 of his friends (or whomever, I don't remember his name)..." and she immediately cut in with "Tell Jared to fuck himself" and hung up. It was funnier than all the rest.
I can't say or not whether or not they planned it, but the look on Sam's face was great. He dropped the act, looked down at Jared (??) calmly said, "I think you're really just better off without this one, brother," and then gave that evil little giggle he had. We fell out.

This scene has many hysterical moments.
The smile After her answer and ‘is she right?’
Still maintaining his composure ‘ I know that’s a popular version of what went on over there….’
When he finally snaps. ‘While pussys like you…listening to the god damn beatle albums…
Rodney interrupts and he comes out of his trance and back to reality
    Destroying the desk.
    Say it. Say it!!!!
Over 30 years old and I lmao.

"How come we didn't cross the 38th parallel, and send those rice eaters back to the Great wall of China, and take it apart brick by brick (rips chair) and nuke them back to the f***ing Stone Age forever, how come!!? Say it!! Say iit!!"
It's funny how in both of his outbursts he mentions rice patties or rice eaters, something about war in Asia set him off like dynamite. It wasn't nessesarily because he was a traumatized vet because he got just as set off talking about the Korean War as he did Vietnam. He said he was in Vietnam, but he looked too young to be a veteran of the Korean War also

You know for a comedian, Sam really got into that character. Sure, it's pretty corollary to his usual stand up material but still. It's a shame we didn't get to see him longer. He probably would have had a pretty decent movie career.
