      Yeah. Really diplomatic, and Nastia was only like 18 years old at the time? Very impressive.

    Both Nastia and Shawn should be proud of their performances. It was very emotional for them and they both delivered great routines

    You can bash Nastia (or Shawn) all you want but it isn't going to change a thing. Nastia hit cleaner routines that day and definitely deserved gold, and I admire her so much. Shawn was phenomenal as usual, but it wasn't her best performance...winning silver is a huge honor though because it means you're one of the best in the world too. Love them!

      Yeah I agree, I think also Nastia really peaked at the olympics. That day Nastia was better, but there were many other times when Shawn was better.

    The fact that Shawn gave Nastia a run for her money with like well over a point less of bars difficulty speaks to Shawn’s ability on the other apparatuses

  • @willsbob123
    @willsbob123 Před 14 lety +12

    They are both superb! Nastia represents the artistic side of gymnastics, and Shawn the powerful side. But, I do think Artistic gymnastics needs more "artistry".

    @tekkenfan01 Před 11 lety +5

    Nope. Artistry differs for everyone. They dance and play music according to their own personality. Not everyone has to be a swan or a ballerina. I will agree a nice balance of artistry, strength and difficulty is good. But the gymnast can choose to do what's best for them. I have to respect that. And of course they all know the code.

    @thesupremediva Under the new points system .6 is really not a lot. On floor a step out can give you up to .3 in deductions, a fall can give you .8, even stupid stuff u lose tenths. back in 2004 .6 would have been a landslide...

    On bars,Liukin had late turn,leg separation all over,and EXCESSIVE bent legs.she cowboy her double front dimount,the judges never took the deduction that should be taken.Liukin also has little power and height on her vault.On beam,she connects skills with snail-speed to get less deduction.On 2007 worlds beam final, I'm very sure that she had a MAJOR wable and still won.On floor,Liukin always crosses her leg to make them look like scissors,each one should take 0.3 deduction,but NONE was taken.

    People were honestly confused from the moment NBC aired that god awful fluff piece from 2007. Nastia always had an edge over Shawn Johnson, she just wasn't in healthy form and had the type of numbers in training Shawn was able to put in up until the Olympics. Nastia has always consistently scored better Internationally. She has the look, the skills, the last name Liukin. If Nastia could just finally put it together without a mistake, there was no way Shawn was gonna win. She didn't stand a chance. Shawn was winning the competitions leading up to the Olympics, but only because Nastia was faltering here and there. They both had clean competitions the day of the AA and Nastia came out on top, as she should have. If you know anything about real gymnastics and the COD, Nastia is easily a technically better gymnast than Shawn. Always has been.

      false, Shawn had faced a eating disorder so she could've done better because she wasn't eating enough cause she wasn't proud of her apparence but no she has learned to love herself!

    • @rockymcduffie8603
      @rockymcduffie8603 Před 7 lety +3

      Quotes are facts. Your "claim" isn't. Any ex gymnast or educated coach knows it's literally impossible to have an eating disorder and perform at the elite level. It is IMPOSSIBLE. And by the way she looked in Beijing, she was DEFINITELY eating. She lost. Because her technique is awful. Educate yourself and read the COP. She looks like a clunky piece of meat flopping about the apparatus. Her look is shit. She is a sweet nice girl but she lost fair and square. Nastia and Yang Yilin had much cleaner gymnastics that day and Shawn was lucky to get silver.

  • @tekkenfan01
    @tekkenfan01 Před 11 lety

    How were you wrong in 97? And I may not understand everything about the Code but I understand what the gymnasts need to do to win. I like Compulsories just as well but the Code has changed so the gymnast has to as well.
