We begin at the big Fish Market. You can smell the fresh seafood and see meat hanging up. Watch locals talk to get good prices and see skilled butchers work. Make sure to try local strawberries and special red oranges.
Sicily is famous for lemons. These big and sweet lemons are used in many foods, like the popular limoncello drink. You can also try sweets filled with nuts and special artichokes.
Next, we visit a craft market. You can buy handmade items, enjoy music, and find souvenirs. For lunch, we loved the stuffed squash and seafood soup.
We then walked around the city centre. We visited the main square with the Elephant Fountain and walked down Via Etnea, a busy street. We also saw the Roman Theatre, full of history.
Are you wondering how long you should stay? Five hours is enough time to see the main sights. If you want to visit more places, like gardens, a castle, or museums, you'll need more time.
Getting around Catania is easy with buses and a mini train that costs 5 euros. A ferry and renting a car is a good option coming from Malta.
