ABOUT RAVENWOLF RETRO TECH
RavenWolf Retro Tech brings you new vintage tech videos regularly. We love to restore and explore vintage technology and are also working on completing an assembly language RPG that I started making on the C64 in 1984.
At RavenWolf Retro Tech we restore and explore vintage technology from Back in the Day! Now that we are moved into the new shop, the frequency of videos is increasing. I’ll keep putting out videos as I can, but I promise to focus on higher quality videos that don’t waste your time over frequent, low effort projects.

Making an RPG single handedly is not for the faint of heart.
There is a lot of ground to cover but I think I have a solid plan to keep the scope reasonable.
👍🏻 good
Specially on a system like the Commodore 64.
This channel is awesome!😊
As you i loved the ultima games on c64, and i also tried to code a kindof rpg clone..in basic at that time ..obviously it failed 😀 by at least a lack of memory. I digged into assembly later but had not enough faith nor time to re-code it in assembly, maybe when i'll be retired ! It's really great that you fulfill your child dream 👍
Greetings from the UK ;) Great channel and great presentation. I love retro and owned a C64 back in 1983, still have it and love it. I also spent a lot of quality time with a ZX Spectrum which belonged to a friend but spent its entire life at my house. I spent lots of time learning to code on both machines in native Machine Language (bit rusty now though...) and I will always have fond memories of those machines. Great channel and looking forward to the DDM dev stuff as well ;)
It's amazing you still have your original machines! I envy that. As for DDM dev I am on it hot and heavy this month while the wife is out of town on a trip with her mother! I have a video outlining the sprints I have planned soon.
@@RavenWolfRetroTech Great, I look forward to that ;) I preserved my machines as best I could, keeping them away from damp etc. I am lucky they are still with me, the C64 needed a new PLA and a RAM chip a while ago but it is still going strong ;)
I would like to see 80 Commodore repair videos. !
I was about to say. Or split them up, 8 videos each 10h long :P
Lol, a 10 hour long video would probably take me 3 months to edit
OK I will ship them to you right away Chris! Get the map animation started.. JK
@@RavenWolfRetroTech yeah no thanks
I want to see 80 Commodore 64 repair videos. Just for the record!
There will be plenty but I was hoping to fix 40 machines by the end of the year...
Nice work ravenwolf. Hope your tooth gets fixed soon.
First don't remind me about teeth, just had surgery in April and was so much pain, I hear you! Can't wait to actually see this game looks like you've already done extensive work with those maps, it's great you found it. Lastly...WOW! Where did you get all those Commodores?
Most of the commodores came from the Stone Collection about this time last year. They are mostly old, dead, school district machines. The dentist gave me a reprieve. He wants to keep an eye on it for another couple weeks before removing the implant.
I love repair videos. There are a number of people who do them for the VIC, 64 and even the 128. I have never seen one for the 16 or Plus 4, so I think those would be really great.
I'll see about doing a few 16s and plus 4s. I've never worked on either so it should be a lot of fun.
@@RavenWolfRetroTech We can learn together.
i'd totally played it. ^^
"There was a Gallifreyan Time Lord there......"
But..... did he like Jelly Babies?
That particular time lord was fond of reversing the polarity... and his scarf...
@@RavenWolfRetroTech So there was a good chance he liked Jelly Babies.
100%
I just subbed to this channel only because I want to see if you can finish the project!
Lol, no pressure 😎 Seriously though I spent the last week working on getting all my design plans and ideas into a word document after the dog spilled coffee on my binder of new notes (thankfully the old stuff was spared). Also Jungle!
The DDM - what's the development system you are using? You are not coding 6502 assembler on the c128, are you?
I am using Kick Assembler in Visual Studio Code with C64 Debugger and VICE. The iteration time is crazy fast when compared to native so its really not a choice if I actually want to finish this.
Great name for the game. Sorry to hear about you having issues with your teeth. Definitely painful. Love the pinball machine. I have a Bally Bobby Orr Power Play. It’s a great machine.
Thanks Frank. I believe that the Fireball II I have and the Bobby Or Power Play you have are based on the same architecture.
I took a look and you are right. The MPU looks like a newer rev in your machine, but in the back box it looks the same. Awesome!!
I think that the biggest difference is the squawk and talk board. I also had a Flash Gordon that was on the same architecture. Made testing parts very convenient.
@@RavenWolfRetroTech exactly. No squawk and talk board in my machine. Great machines!!
Do you follow 8 bit show and tell? Great channel.
Absolutely. I love the way Robin finds such interesting stories. Oh and Easter eggs.
