  • Keene and his passion for the game shines through during this episode. He's struggling initially to visually and technical insert on the back-edge, but with Brandons help he soon gets it. Everyone struggles with The Difficult Crosser, at 50+with yards. James makes a brief appearance.
We recorded the entire session at Back Woods Quail Club, and try to keep the editing to a minimum. The content presented is mostly uncut, as it happened and fairly raw, with just a little comedy and polish. All of the dialog and technical details intact. The highs and the lows, for everyone to experience. You asked for detailed, we're bringing it to you.
Over the course of 19 minutes we get into hand-speed, maintained vs back edge on big crossers, difficult targets lines, we take you behind the scenes of the production and Steven has a revelation...... all as a result of integrating Brandons Back Edge of the bird.
We have hours and hours of footage, we're bringing you the best pieces.
We hope you enjoy this video, it's been fun to make!

This has been a journey. I have been jumping between pull-away and maintained.. always with a high degree of barrel awareness. From your first video I was very intrigued. I tried it once and gave up.
One day I had a tough day with maintained. I decided to sit down with my phone and watch the first 3 videos meticulously again and gave it a 150 target opportunity on a 5-stand layout. It suddenly clicked.
My before used high barrel awareness I exclusively use in my visualization and planning before every new bird, and then just shoot it.
My average has gone up from 86% to 93% on the same 32 different presentations of the last 1.500 birds. Even though it's a completely different way of generating lead. I still think I have so much to learn in this way of shooting.
Thank you very much. So happy.

That’s great. If you are at any major us competitions we’d love to get your experience with this on camera. It is a journey and making changes is the way forward. Best of luck. Devin

Wonderful feedback, thank you. I’m so glad that you took the time to review and give it another shot, and that it’s starting to pay off for you. The videos take a lot of time and energy to make, comments like yours make our effort worthwhile and encouraging.
As Devin says, if you see us at any of the events - please stop by and introduce yourself. We’d love to talk. ❤️

I’ve been doing this for about 3 or 4 months now ( Thanks to Ben Husthwaite videos) and everything is clicking. It makes so much more sense than trying to guess the line from in front. Brandon is an awesome example of how well this works. Keep the videos coming. Can’t wait for the next one. Anyone else getting ribbed from your shooting buddies telling you that’s not how to do it or maintained lead is the way to go? ( I know we need them all but that’s my last choice.)

I was taught to maintain. It works incredibly well, for a multitude of reasons. Looking at other methods is helpful, no regrets. Thanks for supporting the channel!

I certainly have enjoyed the videos and the included analysis and discussion. I've only squaded with you a couple of times Steven but I hope to again in the future.

I find that holding on the line and looking forward of the gun rather than behind, eliminates the gun obstructing the target line.( gun hold point at or near the machine on the line and look point forward where the target will be after it passes the barrel) this is the reverse of say a hold point in skeet where the gun is forward and inserted in front of the bird but the look point is between the gun and the house. your peripheral vision will see the target line from machine through the gun and to the forward eye hold. it's quite counter intuitive, but it establishes the line and feel without the gun getting in the way. Great episode. Thanks.
