We here in Vermont have used those screws,Have used self tapping sheet metal screws that work well too.And instead of duct tape we just use a worn out smaller tire "cut to fit" on the inside.makes the tire last longer and add weight for even better traction.
They said Duct Taping them from the inside would allow it to last about 3-4 laps, imagine what they could do with Flex Seal.
Take it into the tyre shop and tell them you think you've got a puncture, but you're not sure.
