👴 Old Composer Reactions 🤘
The most underrated band out of Australia; in COG we trust!
I'd say Caligulas Horse and Dead Letter Circus are up there for most underrated band outve Australia.
COG are absolutely an underrated treasure and that’s why I bloody love them
Criminally underrated
ICWT!
Yes!! One of my favourite COG tracks. Australia had an excellent time for heavy progressive rock with COG, Karnivool, even Dead Letter Circus and maybe not progressive so much, but The Butterfly Effect came out with some great stuff too. I guess they were my “coming of age” years, going to gigs every other weekend. Oh how I miss it!
man, we must've crossed paths somewhere along the way. Some great Aussie bands back then, Sunk Loto, Superheist, Testeagles..
I’d also add Mark of Cain to that list, although goes back a bit further in time!
Bushido were great too. Hugely underrated. Sleep Parade also. Both were really good live.
There were even bands right at the edge of this scene too, I remember one from Franga called Dialysis.
ohhh fuckk yeah - Dead Letter Circus is a fantastic suggestion - anything off Catalyst Fire or the 2018 album is damn solid too!
It is absolutely insane how much sound they can produce as a 3 piece! And they’re incredible live. “The middle” is a song they put out as a single a few years ago. It doesn’t have the same nostalgia as their older tracks. But the skill, writing and composition of that track is elite.
Superbly articulated, a peerless composition of late..
It bewilders me how little attention that track received. It's a masterpiece in its own right. Amen mate
My favourite band - amazing live!
This is track 1 of Sharing Space, Geebz. Leads nicely into a heavier track called Are You Interested? It's about the surveillance state. Sharing Space is an album full of direct political lyrics, not preachy tho, just encouraging people to see what's going on & calling on people to unite humanity & end the madness. This album was produced by Sylvia Massey in Weed, CA (when she still had her studio there). It's not as heavy as The New Normal, but the band were having kids & mellowing out from their trademark alt-rock sound that some people loosely compared to Tool, but very Aussie in Flynn's unique vocals. Stoked that you checked them out on the main channel, Geebz. Please cover them again soon. Something off The New Normal album would be greatly appreciated. It's my favourite Aussie alt rock album of all time. 🤙🏼
I'd like to hear Geebz cover The Spine.
We need COG more now than ever, these boys are brilliant and makes me a proud bloody Aussie. They’re one of the reasons I took up the drums, Lucius is a BEAST !!
Hey finally a Cog tune hitting the reaction circuit. Long overdue! Cog are brilliant. I've seen them live a dozen times and they are up there with other world class live acts like Opeth, Tool and Porcupine Tree.
Australian 3 piece godfathers! awesome that you're checking them out Geebz. Please please please listen to 'Real Life' and 'Resonate', both tracks from their first album, The New Normal 🤘
I love COG, my absolute favourite song from them is their single The Middle from 2018, gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it
Saw them play it live in brisi a month ago or so absolutely mental live had me shaking.
COG are a brilliant live act. They put on a great show. All their songs are brilliant.
The New Normal is one of my favourite albums. Start to finish it pulls you in.
Saw them live in Townsville about 12 years ago. Thought I was listening to a pre recorded track at first, they are that good.
The New Normal is an astonishing album and one of the fullest albums Ive ever heard. Love them!
Seen them twice, and each performance was better than the last.
Still here bro.
Yeah as an American whom has lived in Australia for 17 years, COG is a very under rated gem.
This is an amazing song no doubt.
But the album " the new normal" is without doubt COG'S masterpiece.
It's one of those listen all the way through and straight away start over albums.
By the way, " no other way" is the first track of the album " sharing space" to answer your question.
From this album, " what if" is epic
Cheers for reviewing them
Thanks for doing Cog!!! (Yes it's the word, not the acronym) Been listening to them since they released their first EP 20 years ago!! I'm still here and on my lunch break ;) This is the opening track from Sharing Space. I'd recommend a left field track The River Song from The New Normal; total trip!!
Wow did NOT expect to see Cog on here. The New Normal is one of my very favorite albums, try anything off that!
great band. Been a fan for years. Cog and Dredg got me thru my 20's. Love to see Dredg on this channel.
The Butterfly Effect - Aisles of White
you've gotta get to this Aussie band of that same scene
Cog is one of the bands I didn't knew about before this channel and I'm really glad I got introduced to them! Song is a banger! I'm just chilling after a really long week! Thank you, Geebz, and thank you whoever patron recommended Cog! Awwright! Still here!
Awesome, Cog are one of the most special bands of my lifetime and it's great hearing of people discovering them today and loving it. Be sure to check out their live stuff on YT. Their "Live at Channel V" set rules, then the Big Day Out stuff amongst plenty of other live clips. I've seen them 10+ times and that was pretty common for fans in Australia because they were just so incredible live.
First in for this what an absolutely great song from a great Australian 3 piece band... ridiculous drummer and lyrics!!!!
That song is a journey . They're so damn good! In COG we trust!
I have great (hazy) memories of leaving a house party to sit in my mate's car blazing it up and listening to this album in its entirety the day it came out
Duuude such an amazing aussie gem, their song Real Life is my fave. You must get to The Butterfly Effect at some point also another legendary aussie rock band.
I'm smoking some wax listening to this. Love Cog such a great band. Enjoy your day Geebz ❤️
Hell's yeah I'm hitting my dab rig, have some live resin. Never listened to Cog before. I like it.
Thanks for checking them out
My favorite band of all time! A great band from the Australian rock scene. I highly recommend listening to any song off of their first full length album, Just Visiting.
And since this is a production reaction channel, probably go for the remastered version when it was released as a whole album as originally intended, rather than the dirtier production of the 2 separate EP's...even tho I prefer them.
Just Visiting has always held a special place with me and when they played it live and Flynn would nail those additional wails of “yeah hey yeah yeah” in the final sedition, absolutely unbeatable, chills to the bone. So good.
Good song, from a great ‘underground’ band. Bird of Feather is my favourite Cog song though 🇦🇺👍🏼
Yes you did COG you absolute legend. This is my favourite band. I had the pleasure of seeing these guys many times. These guys were all part of a special group of Aussie artists like Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect and Melodyssey. Love all the Aussie Nu Metal and Prog Metal you cover man. This is a special group of artists. You HAVE to do Melodyssey next!
One my all time favourite bands, big love from the land down under!
Hell yeah brother! These guys are absolute legends
If you ever get a chance to see these guys live DO IT!
One of my fave live bands ever, never miss them when they come back around.
especially when they play Silence is Violence! 🤘
COG is fun, glad to see it here! Working with my sheets while watching it ;)
COG is amazing
Been a while since I listened to Cog. That’s a reality great album. “Town of Lincoln” is a nice composition. “Say Your Last Goodbye” comes to mind too. Nice chorus on that one and a great build up. They are kind of associated with Karnivool, if I recall correctly.
Did you ever do Hurt? Rapture was a helluva song.
COG's "The Spine" is an all-timer for me. I've lost count of how many times I've listened to that track. The New Normal is such an incredible album - it's pretty much perfect, and there's something about it that feels so Australian. There's a beautiful grit to the whole thing that captures the vibe of living here.
And it was the new music.
And it was timid, and humble, and stern...
The first COG track that really grabbed me is this one. Love the elements that are combined and the different vibes throughout!
I have great (hazy) memories of leaving a house party to sit in my mate's car blazing it up and listening to this album in its entirety the day it came out
Sitting on couch watching this on my TV while my gf and I get ready to head to the bar for some Friday night celebrations! Cheers!
Never thought Id see them reacted to - awesome!
I'm so happy to see that you are giving these guys some attention. - I haven't seen this vid yet, but I'm guessing you'll get a great feeling from this song.
Here's the trip Geebz... It's track Numbero Uno on the album. They are an Australian National Treasure and we love them!!!
Please do more COG reactions !!
I love COG so much from the red and green eps
Make me cry a lot out of pure pleasure ❤️
Seen them at the Cambridge Hotel back in the EP days for the first time
Phenomenal Live
YES! Love that you're checking out Cog. My favorite Aussie band!
Mate, amazing band that started that genre in Australia really.
Would love to see you discuss more of their work.
ANYTHING from the first album THE NEW NORMAL was insane.
7 years to make I believe.
Great job budd 🙏🏼
When they perform this live, all three members sing the 6:30 section. Including the drummer.
The guitar parts aren't super detailed, because the guitarist is also the lead singer and needs to perform it live.
MM9 - When It Kills You
another Aussie band of that era, mixing electronic and drum n bass elements. great stuff
Geebz if you enjoy the synth arrangements in this track then you will absolutely love "Bitter Pills" off the same album, Sharing Space
This made my day!! COG Sharing Space is an amazing album and has been in heavy rotation for me over the last two weeks, and I can't get enough. Great vid 👍
I’m chilling in a hotel room before an early night and the mayhem of my daughters end of year dance concerts tomorrow, where they will unfortunately not be playing this track at any point in time. Thanks for the breakdown of another song from an awesome Aussie band Geebz! Love getting the chance to hear these tracks again for the first time vicariously!
This was a pretty good track to chill to! Heard a lot of Mastodon in the singer, and then I picked up some Gojira and Tool aspects, too.
Awesome stuff, excited to hear more from them!
Thanks for the vid, Geebz! I'm still here, and keep on rocking!🤘🤙
So glad to see you e discovered Cog. In this case your instincts are wrong though, this was actually the album opener! Problem Reaction Solution was the closer and was a similar epic
Loved this song so much I listened to the entire album going to/from the grocery store yesterday. Beyond the good music, I love how anti establishment some of the lyrics are. Swear I've heard the singer before but while researching the band members it is actually the drummer I know of from his side project Floating Me, which I recommend if you want some really chill prog rock. I usually listen to Floating Me on rainy days. The also have a member from Katatonia. Honestly, you could do multiple slow burns of australian prog bands. You haven't discovered Floating Me, Sydonia, Voyager, or a slew of others yet
Also, congrats on hitting a quarter million subs!
Had to Google if the singer of Cog also does the cleans on Mastodon; eerily similar...
That's interesting. I've seen a few people say the same, but I don't hear the resemblance to Brann Dailor.
Saw them live Hindley street Adelaide recently, great band, every song awesome
So this is the first track off Sharing Space. The last track "Problem, Reaction, Solution" is a big, bold finale that is definitely worth checking out.
GEEBZ!!!
Legend for doing COG. One of the greatest Aussie prof bands to come out of Australia. COG, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus.
You must, must, must do COG’s Real Life. Opening track off their first full length album. In fact, you should do the whole album!! One of Australia’s greatest albums of all time. All killer.
Alright! 🙌
YES! 🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥 We want more. We want more! We Want MORE!!
So good!! Thanks for coming back to Aus Geebz! Love it
There's another track on that album that is EVEN MORE mesmerising than 'No Other Way', called 'Bitter Pills'. Check that one out too.
Great guys had a chat with Luke on bass he is such a nice guy
Sharing space is a great album great band
Yes COG!! Aussie legends 😀
Lol - saw your comment at the end - It's actually the opening track. :)
Biggest 3 piece sound you'll hear.
Plus live the drummer hits them *HARD*
Check out the drummer Lucius Borich. He’s one of the best prog rock drummers in Australia
Awesome band. Saw them again last month and they killed it.
I've been hoping for Cog to hit the channel since the beginning, more than any other band! A slow burn on these guys would be perfect if you're ever up for that. Cheers!
It's the opening song of the album.. I love COG so much!!.. Amazing Live also..
Welcome to Cog! A few other recommendations from these guys, 'Bitter Pills' from the same album Sharing Space plus 'Anarchy OK' and 'SPINE' from their earlier album the New Normal. Enjoy!
Cog r such an ethereal vibe. Going to see them in Oct for maybe my dozenth time. Every show is unique. So tight for a 3 piece, & a must see for prog metal/rock fans
This is the first song on the album, but, you should listen to the last song "Problem, Reaction, Solution" which has pretty similar feel to "No Other Way."
Never heard of this band.. Thanks to this great channel im gonna be cogged out..
Great band.. really hope you get back to fellow Aussie band Caligula's Horse. The song you did, slow violence is really just a single type of track and they have some really great masterpieces like Dream The Dead, Salt, or Graves.
I Love COG
COG went to the US for the recording of "Sharing Space" to work with Sylvia Massy who has also done productions for Tool (edit: and probably access to better recording studios)
Yes! More strayan stuff, geebz!
Great band great opening song for album just amazing for a 3 piece band
In COG we trust.
Awesome to see you doing a COG song, one of my favourite Aussie bands
I know you know Karnivool, but have you heard The Butterfly Effect?
Saw these guy's at Monolith in WA, they blew all the previous bands away by showing them how it's done.
Back in the day I would say that these guy's were Australia's version of Muse, as in a tight 3 piece that could produce exceptional music.
They definitely deserved more success as their music is world class.
Dive deeper into there tracks and get lost in the depth Geebz
I'm still here Geebz!
Well that's one suggestion I don't have to recommend on Patreon. 😁 Glad some other patrons are COG fans! This is actually the first track of the album, the last song on the same album is also a monster of a song.
"In COG we trust"
Hey Geebz love your content please play COG Real Life you wont be disappointed killer song
Cog live on channel v 2003 best gig in Sydney , look up on CZcams you won't be disapointed
Oh man this just puts you into a trance. Love it
Lucius is using an octopad and an odd pd pad from roland. it's samples from the octopad. Being a 3 peice, the guys do a lot.
‘The Spine’ should be next…
I'm still here
I'm still here, after work at 5am
Cog ep. JUST VISITING. Shares top spot with PERSONA. by Karnivool as being the best ep ever written...
Can someone tell me which other Cog track Geebz did over on Patreon? Cheers!
Still here.
Definitely ⚙️. Either that or Clint is too polite to correct you when you get it wrong.
Drinking beer man!!! Btw listen to "Adderall" by Slipknot
Best band Australia has produced.
Review 'Doors' by Cog
Hey man, COG is such a cool band, the right balance of heavy and mellow to kick back too some evenings.
I saw your podcast with Marty on the other channel and that led me to this one - there’s an awesome Halo 3 ODST metal cover for Marty’s song “we’re the desperate measures” that I’m sure you’d really dig/could react to. Here’s the link czcams.com/video/fyygbR3Gn5w/video.html
You should definitely react to Lovecrafts Death by Septicflesh!! Honestly just anything by septicflesh I want to see more
You should check out the faceless autotheist deconsecrate or xenochrist, super tight band and technical band
Hey Geebz if you liked how they done a hybrid sort of thing in bits and pieces on this track this is the Flynn brothers from COG on this track from their other band czcams.com/video/RMem3wqp12g/video.html
F L O A T I N G M E
Just send reaction vid to COG’s drummer for you
THANK YOU!!
Lucius has been a favorite of mine since his days in Juice circa 1992-94. Such an amazing drummer,
Same producer as Karnivool, and no this is the 1st track on the album 😅
I thought this was produced by Sylvia Massey, even though they had a falling out and I think they finished it themselves. She didn't produce Karnivool did she? I know Forrester Savell produced Karnivools first album and he also produced Cogs last few songs they released, but Massey produced Cogs 2 albums.
Correct, Massey worked on both albums, Karnivool, Butterfly Effect, Mammal and many others were by Forrester.
This is first on the album, and it's terrible choice if you ask me. It feels disjointed and overlong. There are better tracks on this, 'What If', 'Sharing Space' or 'Bitter Pills' for example.
Im partial to “Say Your Last Goodbye” and “Town of Lincoln” on that album.
It's not that bad man, c'mon now...
I'd take anything off The New Normal tho. My fave Oz alt-rock album of all time, followed by Vool's Sound Awake. Nothing beats them two.
@@mpk33 Well, yes it's not that bad, what I meant was that's terrible idea to put the longest song on a record as a first one ;)
seconded - gotta suggest the more accessible tracks first - like the time some 🤡 suggested "If Not Now, Then When?" by King Gizz as Geebz's first listen🤦♂
I'm getting high watching people be exposed to a fucking awesome band no one really knows about.
