  • RVs are residences on wheels - and if that’s not enough of an issue, they’re being manufactured and sold in a ridiculously price-sensitive market.
You'll want to be comfortable and confident about the true cost of ownership BEFORE committing.

When we bought our new lqnce 1172 last year the dealer said everything would be checked out and working. In reality nothing was checked. We found out by using it ourselves. It’s ok to have warranty work done but our dealer is a 5 hour drive one way. I’m taking the nrvta online course to help do my own diagnostics and repairs.thanks for passing on your experiences

You and I are in the same boat - dealer in my case is 4 hours away. And - another RV dealer practice - even if there is one closer it's not like buying a Ford and dropping in on any old Ford dealer for repairs. If you didn't buy it from them, it's my experience that one is out of luck.

Howard, as much as I'm sure these experiences were painful, you sharing them for everyone else's benefit is so generous. I know I speak for many when I say thank you. 🙌

For sure John. What always gets me into trouble is the questions that I don't ask before committing. Hoping this helps folks ask a better quality of questions than I did. haha

Thanks for your knowledge!, do you go into depth in another video on how you handled your refrigerator issue?
    Please keep these videos coming.

Thanks for tuning in! More to come.
What I did is took the unit back to the dealer for a number of relatively minor issues - and it turns out that the ignitor was badly installed by the fridge manufacturer. The dealer made the necessary adjustments and so far, so good!

Very well said Howard! Then there's the upgrades if you have a older camper like mine (2000). Gotta have solar, USB charging, battery monitoring, LED lighting, and a ceramic toilet right? Good thing I'm handy :).
My medicine cabinet looks just like yours but the plastic shelves have a small lip on them. Odd they would make them flat.
    Regards,
    Kevin

Yeah - owning an RV is definitely a calling to 'be handy'. Thanks as always for being part of my journey!

Is that a Pioneer 700-4 Deluxe SxS you show at the beginning of the video? I have a 2018 model with lots of mods :).@@howardkettner

@@indoors-outdoorshobbies it is indeed. But it’s totally stock - except for winch, roof etc. What upgrades did you do?

I live in the Spokane Valley so it gets pretty cold in the areas around here. I put a heater, split windshield, doors, cab divider, and windshield wiper. I also added running/brake/blinkers, lights to the roof. I had it registered for the street and off-road so it needed a horn and mirrors also.
