  • MONSTERS
It's not boogeymen under the bed or giant spiders on the wall. The real monsters live among us
Set within the suburbs of Sydney, Raymond "Ray" Shoesmith (Scott Ryan) is a hitman for hire who makes a life out of balancing his criminal activities with his obligations to friends and family. He tries to be a father to Brittany (Chika Yasumura), his daughter with his ex-wife, Jacinta (Natalie Tran), a loving boyfriend to Ally (Brooke Satchwell), and a good caretaker to his terminally ill brother Bruce (Nicholas Cassim). Ray also covers for his friend Gary (Justin Rosniak) when needed, and follows orders from his boss Freddy (Damon Herriman) without question. Ray deals with criminals and monsters in his own violent way; this behaviour, however, starts to take its toll and affects his relationships.

I think the dad was just at a point in his life and his grieving process that revenge was too far gone, he needed the closure so he could leave this world, and while i myself cant imagine being such a person i admire his will to not lower himself to the level of a monster. Ray however was never going to let that man leave weather the father wanted to kill him or not and i like to imagine ray went in there and beat him to death with that lantern, although we never find out.

Huntsman spiders are terrifying because they can grow to the size of your hand but they're more or less completely harmless to humans. I've never personally seen or heard of one biting a person and I'm 41. They're also scary because they don't build webs like other spiders but walk around extremely slowly hunting anything that is smaller than they are - which makes them useful for pest control but also really freaky because you'll just have a spider the size of your hand appear on the wall suddenly without warning. They can also run really Goddamn fast when they finally lock in on prey or if they're trying to escape and it looks like a facehugger.

Yeah mate I couldnt handle that. Like do they actually bite humans??

I like the way Ray walks in. He himself is the father of a young girl. So you can see the utter revulsion he has for the guy.
Yeah he's a psychopath who kills for money, but he's a dad as well and this guy is potentially dangerous to his little girl.
You know he 100% killed that paedophile.

Trust me, plenty of situations exist where the authorities know who was responsible but can't get the evidence to prove it in court.

I can see you're a dad by the pictures on the walls. I'm a dad too. I'm a peaceful man however If someone, god forbid, did something bad to my daughter, I wouldn't count the cost of getting them.

@@Ge_o I should have also said great reviews mate! Also, Huntsman are cool, they kill other bugs including cockroaches in your house and don't have webs. A lot of Aussies leave them be and even give them names, it's true. I had to put the last one in the house (wolfy) outside when I sat down on the toilet and it was on the back of the door. That was too much even for me. :)
