I don't know why but the fact that Kumoko managed to literally change the Demon Lord's personality is legitimately terrifying.
Like, on an existential level.

You're not yourself but your neurons connection, so never get brain damage
You just have to be thankful that it is the system that labels Ariel as the Demon Lord. Without looking at those system labeled titles, she would be the hero of the story considering she is the leader of the group trying to save the world.

Yes by killing half of the worlds population to do it. Admittedly it is for good cause since without doing that Potimas plan basically screws over everyone else and the divine being that is propping up the system right now. So this is definitely doing a bad for a good reason.

Alright I havent been keeping up with this series as much as I should (considering its like a better version of that Slime Isekai) but why does she have someone stuck on her head? I was kind of expecting her to evolve into the Monster Girl route but it looks so unnatural, like her spider face remains and her human body looks almost dead, like a zombie....what have I missed?

I would have preferred her to stay a Monster Girl or something, half-spider half-human, because now the show will probably go the rout of "That Time I got reincarnated as a Slime" were the show's namesake has no relevance anymore.

@@Carteie the anime kinda glosses over the fact that she already has Taboo lvl 10 by this point despite how important it is (it's important enough that while she is usually rapidly going from place to place in her thoughts, that instead she almost spends an entire novel chapter complaining about what she learned)
I think seeing Ariel all silly and magical girl-like scared Potimas more than the actual danger she presented. He's lived thousands of years (I'm guessing) and this was probably the first time in eons something truly shocked him.
Also something about the way Kumoko says "scary" is just so funny.
Of course Potimas is scared her father knows her well enough to know something isn't right.
Ngl, I was utterly surprised when it was revealed that our cute spider wasnt the demon lord and instead the emotionless white-themed girl.

Kumoko is actually very antisocial and is bad at human interactions. The reactions we see are in her own imaginary face and her real face is generic spider face so It is no wonder She looks emotionless, She only IMAGINES her reactions and only speaks inside her head
The demon lord is connected to a web of her spider family every act, personality, birth & death is connected to her.
So when you have a child that's a reincarnation of a mid school girl nervous/excitedly spastic
You experience all of it,
apparently the experience corrupted her but not a total take over though.

Why would they? It was a key scene that shows how much Body Brain affected Ariel. It would be stupid to not include it.

Which reminds me of the advice that Mad Moxxi gave to Marcus Kincaid that made him fat. She said "Marcus, get your enemies to underestimate you. If you're ruthless, look fat. If you're smart, look sexy." In Milim's case it be: If you're terrifyingly powerful, look stupid.
So scary. Kumoko has literally, accidental as it may have been, brainwashed a demonlord and forced them to become friends for her survival. And as a spider, that makes sense. Your biggest concern is; to survive. But she does not seem to feel any guilt or moral conflict about this.

I'm convinced at this point that Kumoku's superpower is not dying. You could lock her into a room with all anime villains in existence and she'd survive.

I like how in the WN when Ariel's new personality debuts in front of Kumo and Kuro, everyone has the best reactions. She showed up at the tail end of a fight against these absurdly powerful and deadly robot things. Ariel crashes through the ceiling and crushed the Boss beneath her like it was no big deal. Announcing her arrival as " Magical Girl Ariel-chan is here!" while doing a classic cutesy pose on top of the mangled remains of the Big Boss robot.
This prompted Kumo to start thinking "Somebody say something. No seriously, say something"
Kuro fell to his knees and despaired over what happened to his long time rival/frenemy.
Don't forget that she asked if she screwed up her entrance when nobody said anything

Its not bullying! it is a deep and abiding affection for her that wants her to grow as strong as possible using all her hard won knowledge on how this worlds rpg style system functions. She just is so completely and utterly awkward that she cant express it directly. And boy howdy did it ever work! Sophia is a MONSTER just going by raw stats.

I can't express how much I love the noises Kumoko makes, the reaction noises with the slight body movements are awesome.
This show went from DnD to terminator real quick.
I think it went from Elder Scrolls: Oblivion to D&D and then Endless Legend.
This series and Slime literally restored my interest in anime. I really hope it gets a 2nd season.

What can you not wrap your head around? Before body brain, Ariel was way too serious and cautious, unwilling to make any uncalculated moves. With body brain Ariel is more relaxed and capable of actually taking action.

@@Arturo-gh1on well... yeah... that's the point, their personalities merged, and she got the side of Kumoko that's always talking to herself, and not the social anxiety. There's not a lot to misunderstand there.
Well considering the Ariel we're first introduced to in the series is the cheerful one, and was only deadly serious prior to being attacked by Body Brain, you can't really be confused by that.
I find it hilarious that kumoko's spider half has more of an emotional range than her human half

Not sure if it's underrated, I believe it did quiet well actually, I'd be surprised if this doesn't get another series tho will probably be about a year before we get a confirmation on another one.

Not sure if to be relieved or terrified that our spider basically brainwashed the demon lord by accident. Made her more like herself. And while it was happening the demon lord is aware of this but at the end lost to herself in a way. So who's in control?
Ariel is in control. "Body brain" was too weak and got absorbed by Ariel's soul. Despite what you're seeing here, her personality only got slightly changed.

The main voice actor really makes the character enjoyable. The surprised sound at 1:40 was especially enjoyable this time around, and the script is really entertaining. When does Season 2 come out? Hopefully soon :)

something the show didn't quite explain well here is that since part of Kumoko has merged with Ariel's soul as much as it has at this point, she runs a high risk of dying if she kills Kumoko.
Saying she just lost interest isn't entirely accurate
It's not said in the LN either.
It doesn't really make sense her to know this or to share this information with Kumoko.

This is a weird situation to walk in on without context.
Honestly, even with context, it’s unusual. I certainly didn’t expect Ariel to come in like that. Or the robot. The headless Arachne, yeah that was a given. Kumoko usually comes out of boss fights missing at least one or two parts.

Potimas (elf king) made Ariel (demon lord), Ariel made "mother" and "mother" made the egg Kumoko (spider girl) hatched from.
Quite the family drama, no? XD

It has really high moments and some really low moments, but it's a fun and interesting ride. I really enjoyed it even if some episodes had big issues
I really hope this gets a second season, animation had some really rough spots but I still enjoyed it

Wow it's really been 2.5 years already. I sure hope there'll be more seasons in the future, as what happens after season 1 ends is the best part in my opinion.

More like merged so there’s aspects of both but the original shows up more when argyle or serious
She's neither the original Ariel nor Body brain, they became one and the current Ariel is a mix of both
Basically, the only thing that Body Brain gave her was a shot of youthful vigor and the aggressiveness that Kumoko has. Everything else is Ariel.
Everything else is just her Edge.
