Especially in India, dog grades are being determined by looks. But the fact is that these dogs were initially developed for serving purpose based on the behavior. We ruined the characteristic of breeds. We Indians are proud if our Dog size is bigger than usual, no matter how it behaves.
Think of wearing a woolen sweater from toe to head 24*7 in our climate. Thats exactly what these poor animals go thru. Go for native breeds . May it be plants or animals
I had a German shepherd, and reduced myself to a single small conure bird and fish tank. Brother, Breeders of all animals do not bring good habits and behaviour in these animals. So to the end customer its waste of money and time and energy and become a stressful job. You cannot expect anything from these animals other than Love and affection. A german shepherf is a beautiful breed but you have to import them. Here everyone provides only half of information leading like minded hobbyists to move away from keeping animals. German Shepherd especially in our place are not definitely Guard dogs. These animals will not stand to any single intruder. I am not a breeder but as a customer bathing them and removing their poops, i handled as a single parent. Everyone has stress but why people go to doctors instead of having these animals as a stress buster, the answer is you become more stressed and loosing out your valuable time and money by keeping these animals. Visiting animal shelters once a while is more than enough.

These are later day German shepherds. the original German Shepards have a different color. They are from east Germany. If you want guarding instincts then Search for sable German shepherd in the internet. Their back is flat and color is grey. But I will have to agree these gsds are very good dogs.
