- I grew these cucumbers in Zone 9A.
Basic Recommendations
Temperature: 60°F-90°F (15°C-32°C). They germinate at minimum 68°F (20°C). They don’t tolerate frost.
Watering: Keep it consistently moist with an inch of water per week.
Spacing: 36”-60” apart (91cm-152cm).
If you are using vines, space 12” inches apart (30cm).
Seed Depth: 1 inch deep.
Sunlight: Full sun
Soil:
Nutrients: Nitrogen heavy feeder. Side dress the cucumber plant with two handfuls of compost every four weeks. I did it only once, but I had new soil full of nutrients.
pH level: 6.0 - 6.8 (near neutral pH)
Pests & Disease prevention & troubleshooting: There are too many to mention! Consult sources.
The only issue we had were mildew and a few beetles. We sprayed the leaves with baking soda solution (1 teaspoon of baking soda, ½ teaspoon of liquid soap & 1 gallon of water) only a couple of times and also neem oil only once. That’s it. The leaves were harmed, but it didn’t seem to affect the taste of the cucumbers or the aesthetics.
Other notes:
-Sow seeds ideally outdoors, direct seeding. We did not do that! In fact, we grew in small pots, then transplanted in 4” containers, then transplanted outdoors in about a month.
-Mulch to hold in soil moisture. I didn’t actually use any mulch. We probably should have to avoided pests.
-Use clips to hold up the plant on trellis. I used velcro strips.

I'm going to plant more of them this year, take care

Very nicely done. Where did you get the seeds from? I grow 3 varieties. Jade (my favorite), Diva, and Straight 8.

Thank you! I bought the seeds from a farmers market in Philadelphia. I made sure to look at the back to make sure the seeds were not expired. The seeds are not really widely available, so I think you have to buy online. That's why I am making sure to save as many of these seeds as I can!
Nice

I had a problem with cucumber it has fungus i dont want to put chemical because i grew organic i use neem oil baking soda still not working
can tell me I want to extract cucumber seeds can machinery do this commercialialy how many seeds do long cucumber have thankyou
Azar Mahmood I had success by leaving one cucumber on my plant for a long time until it turned all yellow. Then I removed the seeds and put it on a plate for a few days, then rinsed it and dried it on a baking sheet for many days. I followed another CZcams video about it.
My cucumber leaves are turning brown yellowish crispy.
what is "after plastic" refer to?
We live in a plastic oriented era. Everything around us is made from plastics. We are promoting a new biodegradable world by teaching people effective ways of being green, "after" the "plastic" era. Hope that makes sense!
thanks, where are you? please subscribe to my channel. i'm senior editor of north texas law review. and see me on facebook. thanks again
Why Miracle grow????
You are right. I had no other options in my small town, the boutique soil is so expensive. But I am composting & vermicomposting so I won't have to use that miracle grow soil again!
I think buying them was cheaper after all that fertilizer, plastic bases or whatever u call them, hard work and all those gallons of water after 109 days?? Oh heck no
Thanks for sharing your tips and mistakes. Deer and rabbits are the enemy.
