Dave (the guy who put this kit together years ago) is a great guy and retired now. This kit was put together very well with some of the best instructions I have ever seen for anything. I bought this kit back then and still have it running today, (55,000 miles on it). But it should not have been used with the stock exhaust, and that is why their dyno numbers are not breaking 300hp. It needed a free flowing dual exhaust for another 30-40hp, and a lot cooler engine compartment. I am between 330 and 350hp with mine depending on the air temperature between like 35 deg F. and 85 deg. (really notice that with a super charged engine). I do have the smallest pulley and the water to air inter cooler. He used the best stuff for the kit. Quality business man. Been years since I talked with him, the last time telling me he retired. I hope he is doing well.
@@CommanderbarronI just bought a Bone stock 08 V6. Where’d you get your kit? I also can’t find the kit that’s in this video. I neeeed some extra power from this old dog.
@@crisper1614 The trap I waled into is, it is a V-6 with out a good rear end or exhaust. You will get over 300 hp, and the stock exhaust will really heat up the engine. Nice video. As a very happy X-Charger owner for more than a year, I can verify the positive comments made regarding ease of install, the quality of the manual, and the wonderful improvemment it makes to the 4.0 Mustang.

@josecrosscountry Your absolutely right. Makes alot more sense to me also, and the V6 on the highway will be alot better on gas if you can keep out of the throttle that is...
@JPMRIR2 you could do that but the stock rear axle wasnt built for that much hp, so you run the risk of damaging/breaking it. as far as gears go its just different ratios to fit the increase in torque better
EGR improves emissions and fuel economy when the engine is at partial throttle, and the system shuts off completely at WOT. So it really doesn't make sense to get rid of it when it improves fuel economy under normal driving without sacrificing any power at WOT.
Yes, 15-18% loss. When you measure the flywheel HP compared to RWHP. However what is shown is a dyno chart listing stock V6 RWHP (186) to X-Charged RWHP (271). Meaning that the power gain is an increase of just under 100 RWHP. It is an 85 RWHP increase. Still a big increase for a 3.0 pully putting out 6-7psi of boost. I'm doing the same thing to my Mustang this winter most likely. Will probably also snag the 8.8 rear while I'm at it.
@skl1cent honestly your best bet will be to buy the entire rearend off of the same body style gt because they have the stronger 8.8 while the v6 had the 7.5 also to make things cheaper try to find it with 3.73 rearend gears.

Pretty good video, needs to cut down on the exaggeration some. It said it'll get 340hp when it only made 270. And don't say it made decent power to begin with, I drive an 06 V6 and I know that's not true lol. And to the people saying 270 isn't a V8 killer... This is bone stock with the supercharger. Matt Sadagursky Well, considering that 340bhp is roughly 270-290rwhp I'd have to say they were spot on. Being a car guy you shouldn't have to be told which hp they mean when there is a dyno sheet and you can do rough calculations. Should they have specified? yes the gt might have 5hp moor know but there is still the stock exhaust on this car chang that out to a high flow exhaust you will be well about that 5 moor hp that gt has
idk a new v6 goes for $20,995 while a gt goes for $27,995 so thats a $7,000 difference add the x-charger ($4,500) and the rear end ($1,000) and now you have a car that is about $26,495 so its still cheaper than the gt, weighs less, less insurance, and has about the same power as the gt. i think its a good deal for the ppl who have a v6 and just want a bit more power.
Supercharger is okay. Only get a supercharger because it's easy to install as compared to a turbo kit. Turbo is faster but the extra tubing can be a pain if you don't know what you're doing.
@josecrosscountry youll find V6s for 8-12k now with decent mileage, you wont ever find a GT for under 17k at the lowest with ridiculous miles lol, V6 V8 its all preference mate

your not getting the gt suspension and being lighter is nice but its only about 100-200 pound lighter so not much of a difference that only going to be 1-2 tenths of a second faster in the quarter mile if its the same power. i had a 2001 v6 and now i have a 2002 gt and the weight difference is 100 pounds and if you get a convertible then add another 100 pounds, with th gt you get parts that can handle more power without breaking and you get better suspension
Is this X-Charger 50 State Street Legal for the 2005-2014 V6 Mustangs? I live in California and it has to have an EO# and C.A.R.B. Certified in order to install on a stock V6 engine. Also, will it work for both Manual and Automatic Trans? Thanks and God Bless! BTW!...How would you compare it to the V6 Mustang Supercharger Kit from Pro-Charger?
thats an increase of 100 brake horse power whic is measure at the fly wheel. the 270 your see is wheel horsepower. which can be 15 to 25% less than BHP and dyno jets measure in rwhp
Dyno numbers across several random dynos will not show the accuracy of the real power. That is because there really is no calibration method for them, and they are as accurate as designed and set up/operated. There are accurate dyno's out there though. I have one. But I used a freshly broken new engine, that has a owners manual that states the peak power an RPM. So I got it running as good as I can, and adjusted the result (Called the "efficiency loss factor" on mine), until my dyno was reading what the manual says. 2.8hp. (small 2-stroke race engines on a Land and Sea water brake engine dyno) :)
MrTyler8877 they upgraded the rear end to an 8.8 which is a pretty stout rear end on its own, but most likely it was to house the 3.73 gears to put the torque down with minimal stress on the rear end. the stock rear end gears in the s197 are pretty tall. you could run this kit on the stock car it just wouldn't have the quicker take off of the 3.73 gears.
Now I'm no mathamagician. However stock reading on the dyno of 186hp, X-charger to 271hp. Exactly how is that an increase of OVER 100hp? :D But besides that, very informative bits about the X-Charger. Nice to see the installation is actually as easy as advertised.
its not over 100 horsepower? can they count? it went from 186 to 271. thats just ABOUT 100 horsepower. why do they keep saying 140 horsepower gains? and i started laughing when they said it would have 340 horsepower. lmao
I emailed the xcharger company with the same question and they replied " we do not have any plans for a 3.7l xcharger. That terminated my whole day day dude
Awesome to see that the X-Charger is getting out and about now. Had mine on for a while now.. what 4... 5 months. I Love It! Can't wait for the intercooler to come out for it lol. Randys06v6
wheres the dual exhaust and headers? put those and a tune up and you could kill a GT....for 4-7 grand on top of the V6 retail, you might as well buy a 5.0L crate engine from roush
im sorry, but for the cost of all those parts i might as well just buy the GT Premium with a couple thousand miles on it, i mean if the whole point was to make it just better than the v8 and not push it farther say into the 400hp range then it isnt worth all the trouble, like my 4.0 is pushing 413 rwhp and i literally dumped cash into it
The 2005-2009 4.6 GT made 300hp stock. This kit with dual exhaust does make about 340. The stock engine made 210 claimed. A supercharger usually adds about 60% more power, (up to 10psi boost), and still be able to run on 93 octane pump gas.

your not getting the gt suspension and being lighter is nice but its only about 100-200 pound lighter so not much of a difference that only going to be 1-2 tenths of a second faster in the quarter mile if its the same power. i had a 2001 v6 and now i have a 2002 gt and the weight difference is 100 pounds and if you get a convertible then add another 100 pounds, with th gt you get parts that can handle more power without breaking and you get better suspension
They stoped using the 4.0 in 2010 the 11- up is 3.7 which makes more stock then that 4.0 with a sc
thats an increase of 100 brake horse power whic is measure at the fly wheel. the 270 your see is wheel horsepower. which can be 15 to 25% less than BHP and dyno jets measure in rwhp
Yeah but the 3valve gt with tune throttle body and cams they can easy make 350 whp i see dyno numbers on youtube
4:35 Upgrade the suspension!!!
in order to put this on do i need to upgrade the rear end or anything before?
MrTyler8877 they upgraded the rear end to an 8.8 which is a pretty stout rear end on its own, but most likely it was to house the 3.73 gears to put the torque down with minimal stress on the rear end. the stock rear end gears in the s197 are pretty tall. you could run this kit on the stock car it just wouldn't have the quicker take off of the 3.73 gears.
no.. ill leave that to you.
do you have a mustang?
0:17 sounds like a FS-2001 or an old Mercedes M120
7500 with the x charger but I didn't mention that so... Labor was on me.
Now I'm no mathamagician. However stock reading on the dyno of 186hp, X-charger to 271hp.
Exactly how is that an increase of OVER 100hp?
:D
But besides that, very informative bits about the X-Charger. Nice to see the installation is actually as easy as advertised.
MephSCP lmao I was saying the same when I came across this comment
Is it possible to get for another model car
As long as you have the 4.0l v6
would u need to upgrade the fuel injectors?
Yup
its not over 100 horsepower? can they count? it went from 186 to 271. thats just ABOUT 100 horsepower. why do they keep saying 140 horsepower gains? and i started laughing when they said it would have 340 horsepower. lmao
is there an application for the 1996 3.8? how much?
procharger up to 11 pounds of boost
Will the xcharger work for a 99 mustang?
Alex Holt no its a different engine, your 99 is a 3.8 or 3.9L with a different intake set up.
Oh boy
Is there any chance we will see this for 2015 3.7l mustangs?
jonathan harry I have been trying find that out for the 2011+ v6 for awhile now
I emailed the xcharger company with the same question and they replied " we do not have any plans for a 3.7l xcharger. That terminated my whole day day dude
"Rated" at 200 crank, but no not 260 at the wheels. Just proving a point tho. 260 at the wheels for a blown V6 is pretty sad, IMO.
Awesome to see that the X-Charger is getting out and about now. Had mine on for a while now.. what 4... 5 months. I Love It! Can't wait for the intercooler to come out for it lol.
Randys06v6
Do you have a link for it?
What country are you living in Demo? The base GT is $7000 more than the base V6.
wheres the dual exhaust and headers? put those and a tune up and you could kill a GT....for 4-7 grand on top of the V6 retail, you might as well buy a 5.0L crate engine from roush
Is there a website for these superchargers?
They are gone. The only one now is moddbox. It uses the Eaton m90 Supercharger.
im sorry, but for the cost of all those parts i might as well just buy the GT Premium with a couple thousand miles on it, i mean if the whole point was to make it just better than the v8 and not push it farther say into the 400hp range then it isnt worth all the trouble, like my 4.0 is pushing 413 rwhp and i literally dumped cash into it
Its not the same numbers gts make like 260-280tops to the wheels
Wow the install time was 2 hours? 5:20
+Alex Brown more like a few days... took a week of 4-5 hours bursts of installing mine
The 2012 v6 stock motor has 305hp how the hell is that 270hp a v8 killer????????
the videos 11 years old
The 2005-2009 4.6 GT made 300hp stock. This kit with dual exhaust does make about 340. The stock engine made 210 claimed. A supercharger usually adds about 60% more power, (up to 10psi boost), and still be able to run on 93 octane pump gas.
