  • I'm reloading some of my old videos after I do re-edits because the music police marked a lot of them, "Video blocked in some countries." as a result of my music choices.
Please bear in mind that at the time (3/10/2011) I was still learning how to make videos. Plus the camera I used then sometimes made my breathing sound very much like Darth Vader.
    Thanks for watching my videos,
    Hiram
JimboJitsu left me a comment on CanteenShop GrillTop Stove Stand - Sterno - Boil Test #7:
"Not sure if you knew it but Sterno cans like that for catering are designed to hold food at 145 degrees and the health dept forbids using them to try to heat with because the are so low temp... useless catering factoid... I like the idea of modification for alcohol though, recycled sterno cans are very cheap!"
So in this video I took an empty Sterno can and filled it with Perlite and alcohol and did a test comparing the flame from this and a can of Sterno. If there is an interest I'll do a boil test with the refilled Sterno can.

Hiram: denatured alcohol puts out about twice as many BTUS as Sterno.

Hi Hiram, I just bought brass alcohol stove, do you think it would be okay to put the perlite in that and then the denatured alcohol and if so how long would that burn if I fill the brass burner all the way up? Oh, what does the perlite do?
    Thanks 💚 ✝️

What led you to put the pearlite in an alcohol stove to begin with?

Would someone please tell me why, when I put perlite and 1 oz alcohol in a can and lit it for the first time, the perlite started popping out and all over. Also, what can be done about this? Does it stop after the first burn? Thank you.

Will perilite work in a trangia?

It should. I just use a tuna fish can with perlite & denatured alcohol. The burn time is double vs without the perlite.

@@CrackerFLIt doesn't pop all over and spit out? Mine did and scared me because I wasn't expecting that. I haven't seen one single video that says the perlite might start popping and jumping out.
