- Game crashes can be caused by a wide variety of factors. Insufficient memory or storage space is typically identified as one of the the root problems. Problems with Red Dead Redemption 2 crashing can also be caused by things like missing or corrupt system files, application conflicts, and security software like antivirus or firewall limitations. An old or faulty graphics driver could be at blame in some situations.
If by any chance you will encounter some issues while playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on your computer here are the solutions that you need to try. - Hry
RDR2 started to crash very often recently. The game just closes without any errors, sometimes error FFFFFF. It didn't happen several weeks ago.
Same here. I started playing the game 3 weeks ago, and for the most part it worked fine. The last few days it just closes down constantly. I tried several things shown in this video but it's the same.
Same boat here, every 15-20 minutes it just closes the game without any error
@@MrCocioFreak the same here with memory issue.. is it the mod reshade or is it the game?
@@kenned5224 it's the game. It's been happening to people since release. Rockstars lazy asses have done nothing to try to fix it.

I can get past with intro gameplay when it crashes within 10 minutes, so sick having to replay the intro again and again
Me too, same problem
Same here
Yea same thing, saw some ppl saying that you have to change your date to 2019 on windows, and saw a lot o ppl saying it fixed for them, but no fix for me so far. If anyone knows anything, I'd be glad to hear
Same. I had to get a refund for the game. Story mode and online crashed every 5 minutes.
I believe the current problem is a game issue. Whenever launching the Wilderness camp or trying a legendary bounty, it always crashes. (Online).
Yes
@matthewsay3543 If there is a fault in the game... even 128gb of ram won't help you. There are many things in this game that could lead to a desktop crash, excluding modders.
If only rockstar cared about their game and fixed it rather than adding more pay to win to gta
With me it's different but the same the game will not give me any errors it will literally just freeze then crash and it doesn't do that when I'm doing anything specific it will just do it randomly
My can consistently crashes on the story mission where you torch thoes fields with moonshine. After you finish sneaking around and the shooting starts it crashes every single time. I cam wander around and do side stuff but cant advance the story anymore no matter what i do
My problem is everytime i try approch base camp i get the error ffff ive tried all of these fixes and its still happening i play single player with mods never had any problems till the last few weeks.
hi guys, i don't know what problem cause the crash of RDR2 when i go inside building like gunsmith or every other building. i can't even do the first mission of the prologue don't know what to do :(
so for me it doesnt even let me launch it. it says running for around 2/3 seconds and then nothing happens
After reading some ones post about overclocking, i disabled XMP in bios and the game doesn't crash anymore.
None of the steps worked for me.
I open Read dead redemption 2 The Rockstar logo shows up and then the game just closes itself without showing any error message. I don't know what's wrong with the game. It was running fine but now it's always this. It always crashes or closes itself after the rockstar logo shows up. Can anyone Please help me I didn't even finish the game😢
hey. when i change setting it freezes on confirm screen/ help
It's the problem with the actual game itself & even ps4 users have the crashing issue so it's not your pc.
So sad :(
Didn't work after trying everything unfortunately. Hope it works for others but mine still crashes halfway loading into the story mode.
tried all of these, none worked. I Guess I'm done playing this game.
FRIENDLY REMINDER, if you do what this guy calls a "Clean Boot," remember to turn the startup apps BACK ON or nothing on your computer will work correctly. Thanks for not including that in the video, TDG!
Thx
This just happened to me, any idea how to fix that issue
How do you do that?
@@morstye you should be able to search "startup apps" and find it in your settings

Tried all the attempts shown in the video, nothing worked. After 5 to 10 minutes, RDR2 jumps back to the desktop without an error message. Drivers are up-to-date. I even installed Windows 11 separately, the error still exists. All other games are working well.
relate. mine is 10-15min
You didn't solved any problem, instead you improved the problems.
I tested it, idk who can solve the problem but my game specifically crashes after attempting to use dead eye in the SECOND mission launched for online.
First mission will work perfectly fine. Second mission, as soon as dead eye is triggered, the game will crash with the error FFFFFFF.
Tried everything, it will still continue crashing. It's a game issue.
I'm 90% confident this is a game issue like you said, ever since the rockstar games launcher it's been giving me this bullshit, now it just crashes on the shotgun intro without an error message :/
did you manage to solve this problem? literally the same thing happens to me too...
@@filipMmM it is an error due to a connected audio peripheral headphones , microphone

@@Wlodek1410 You have to download the patch. Since patching it has been working normally.
My game started crashing nonstop while starting up about 2 weeks ago. It hasn't worked since :(. I did everything, completely reinstall, lower settings even though i have a 3090, delete sga files, everything. :( I was just getting back into it, but now its unplayable.
found a fix, I'm on windows 11 just FYI. I added a windows account, signed in andjust called it guest, and it runs perfectly fine on there, dunno why, but its been almost a month and no issues.

someone please help me, I have redownloaded the game 3 times now.. first fitgirl.. then ballisto and now for xatab.. the game just crashes on startup while rockstar logo appears.. I have tried everything from changing files to disabling firewall, someone please help
I've download it from fitgirl too. I could do the intro mission just fine, but once I start any mission from that point, the game crashes. It just closes without error messages or anything, just close.
Hello, I had same problem and found solution for me. The problem was caused by the MSI Afterburner application, where I overclocked my graphic card. After I set the default values, the game stopped crashing. I recommend checking the overclocking values in the BIOS as well. Good luck
How do you do that?
thanks mate, i disabled XMP in bios and i dont get the crash anymore
@@thikim3856how do you do this
Thanks a ton mate at least my game booted up from first method of msconfig otherwise when I click on story after slideshows it sayserr-gfx_state
For me, it was becouse graphics card/processor reached too much in Celsius. I dont know why, but the setting of coolings was oversetted/turned off. When setting cooling to work with lower celsius the crashing fixed.
how’d you fix this problem
My issue is whenever i try to change settings in the game it completely crashes and everything is slow.. im trying step 5 (verifying integrity files ) and hoping it all works out..
Turn off vsync
It slows down to 1 fps because you changed vulcan with dx12. Go back to vulkan
Yes really you are great man it works for me. Happy 😀
I just installed the game, I realized I could actually really enjoy this game, and was exited. I can't get past the first intro sequence... Is there NO way to fix this?
I've tried all these, the only thing left is to reinstall... which takes over a fucking hour
I've reinstalled over 4 times. Doesn't fix it
This happened to me and I’ve fixed it , try setting ALL graphic settings to low or off
I play on console but i got a kick ass pc recently so I got rdr2 on black friday sale. It crashes after 15 minutes everytime. I tried everything mentioned here along with other suggestions. I sent a ticket to cockstar but I'm fairly certain they'll blame the weather, or astronomical sign, or gas prices, or cats or anything else
Same. It’s happening to me too.
@@Idabellda I booted the game up in safe mode. That just decreases most settings and decreases resolution. I was able to play for a while. I have a Radeon 6950 graphics card with good memory and ram. It should be able to handle it. So I went into settings and turned everything back to ultra. I could play just fine. I exited the game then started up normally with default setting (everything is pretty much ultra). I'm playing right now without a problem. I'm not sure why the computer resolved the graphics after resting it.
That's a long way of saying: lower all your graphics settings and play for a bit. If it goes well, turn them back up.
I haven't played for hours yet but it hasn't crashed in the time I'm playing right now
for me it's if im in the game for 5 min it's black screen and if i don't press win key+Ctrl+shift+B in time it resets my pc or just making me reset the pc by myself ill be very happy if someone can help me with this problem (Edit): if i do press all the key's at the right timing it's just crashing my game and sending me back to descktop
I have the same problem. Have you fixed yours and if so what did you do?
BRO SAME
My just sends me to desktop though
I installed the game in a normal way, but when I start it, it tries to run the game but it closes immediately and nothing runs, I have been having this problem for months.
😮💨😔
Did u fix it
My game is crashing on story mode on loading screen
@@zipperstriker If I fixed it, the problem was that I had the "Action" program installed, which is a program to record the screen and the game did not start, even though the program was closed it was still in the background, I uninstalled it (action) and The game worked perfectly for me. If you have a similar program, I recommend that you delete it, the only one that works well is nvidia gforcenow experience.
Thank you. That worked.
I did what you said and it worked!! I am so freakin happy now you are saver of life. I can now complete mission of bring a goddamned posse!!!!!
This is ridiculous I have to change my windows settings to play RDR 2 on med settings I can play any other game on Ultra settings including Cyberpunk without any problems, so lame
During rdr2's gameplay like for 1 hour or half, game CTD(CRASHS TO DESKTOP) or gives an error such as GFX-ERROR or ERROR FFFF.
I did everything I could disabling fire wall or optimizing games graphic settings and such.
I have 16378mb video memory in game but I use less than 5000 of it.
My system:
AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor
RAM 32.0GB
Windows 10 Pro 22H2
So any ideas of what might be cause of that and what should I do?
Similar issue with my 6800xt and 5800x3d, game consistently crashes on horseback section of the benchmark.
my game ocasionally crashes to desktop too... Its not windows problem, its not hardware problem... Dunno what to do... Sometimes I can play 1 hour without issue, sometimes 5 hours...

I'll let you know if I find a solution.
Same problem here , it just crashes randomly or i get that error
It is the chinese.
I've come across an interesting bug in Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC) that has occurred for me repeatedly, and which can be reproduced consistently. Go to the highest point overlooking Valentine - this is typically to the east of town - and begin sniper firing down on the town. The game may crash immediately, or only after you target NPCs, either way it happens every time on my installation and across re-boots and isn't or does not seem to be an issue with the graphics drivers or existing software. I never use mods or hacks, so this is a consistent issue with the actual game.
If you do this, in effect attempting to start trouble in Valentine via sniping the game simply crashes - I've checked this now over the period of a month, and over repeated plays of the game, and from various points high above Valentine, and the crashes occur with Unknown Error #FFFFFFFF which as most of us know means an unknown error. personally, I think the game is having a problem identifying where the sniping fire is coming from, so for some unexplained reason, crashes back to the O.S.
I have my graphics set to high although my system can handle ultra. It does not seem to be a memory issue, outside of that one that RSG somehow built into the game which tells you that you are running out of resources when you have plenty of RAM. My base RAM is 128GB and my graphics card is 12GB.
apparently after the " patch " many people have this issue, although for most of them and for me its incosistent
and " out of memory " warning is also a bug, i also only use 4 gigs out of 8 but sometimes i still get it
fyi, the game counts the whole of memory used including webpages and such
since you have 128 ram im guessing you use your pc for editing, could try playing without work running in the background
@@PapaRunebeard That's the anomaly. With the exception of the normal Windows 10 applications, I have nothing running with one exception - Nvidia's recording system. I have never run games with stuff running in the background as my experience with computers goes all the way back to the eighties, and I know that resources being used in the background slow down machines to the point where they are near useless - remember early Symantec Norton antivirus? Just having that in active slowed 386 and 486 machines so much that it was like strolling through mollasses!
@@avengingterrier3244 btw if you are interested, i managed to " fix " the crash
nexus mod lobby manager which make it evident the problem is on their side
and it laso narrow it down because the mod only replace one xml file with a custom one
played about 2 hours, no lag no stutter nothing
maybe test your valentine spot with it ?
@@PapaRunebeardReckon its worth a try. I don't use mods/hacks of any kind on my game - but you're welcome to try it if you wish. Go to the cliff overlooking Valentine to the east of town, and fire down on main street and see if it crashes the game.
@@PapaRunebeardFeel free. I figured it would be server-side. But once again, I never use mods and this was in story mode.
Hello there, what an intelligent video your English and articulation is excellent. So, I thought it may be helpful to someone to announce that when I have reconfigured what can't be allowed at startup of my PC (Alienware Aurora R8, Windows 10) in the past, it broke all of my browsers; they would not download and would not work in a number of important ways. And yes, I did follow the instructions on how to properly do this. I could not find a fix on the web and even when I uninstalled and reinstalled the browsers they were still broken, even after I reallowed them to startup with my PC again. I think what fixed it was a Windows update. So, beware. Browsers were Microsoft Edge and Chrome.
None of these options worked for me. A refund did however work for me.

I know this sounds crazy but here's how I solved my random crashing issue I changed the date on my computer to January 23rd 2019.
The chinese hackers do this shit, its really pathetic and sad.
do you also have random crashes to desktop without any errors etc? and do you have kinda good pc too?
@@majkel5128 nope just that game and it just started happening after some Chinese hackers appeared around me in god mode and started fucking with me. So actually just today I tried another solution from other players since I have been playing this since it launched on PC and never had these issues. I ran benchmark got an average of 124fps with some ultra, high and medium settings at 1080p. Then I ran the game online and now all of the sudden it doesn't crash, I also rolled back my driver's quite a bit because the latest and driver's for awhile now have been complete dog shit. I run a 6700xt 5800x cpu 32gb of skill ripjaw ram at 3600 and I am using a blue WD SSD to run all my games it has 2tb of space and plenty left. Like I said the game never had issues before recent, i don't think it was driver's either because that did not fix my issue but running the benchmark seemed to do the trick for some reason. I will let you know the full results in time but so far it has been running stable.
@@majkel5128 I got it to run fine for a bit i dunno if it was just random luck or what but now it crashes in benchmark. Like i said in my specs its a good pc, this never used to happen and yes its random crashes with no error to desktop.
