John Farnham was "deeply touched" by Robbie Williams' heartfelt tribute at the 2022 AFL Grand Final, his family says. The Australian legend - currently receiving treatment for mouth cancer - "thoroughly enjoyed" Williams' performance and "generous gesture" while he gleefully watched on from his hospital bed.
Great to see John's musical director Chong Lim up on stage with Robbie. It was a 20 minute performance (reportedly for over a million bucks) and he won the crowd immediately with Let Me Entertain You. His tribute to John was appreciated even though he let the crowd do most of the work and his vocal wasn't up to Farnsey's standard. Then he brought Delta on. resplendent in pink, for his finale and left the crowd wanting more. One of the better AFL entertainment packages.
@@carolynh8866 It couldn't have happened due to John's surgery, but how great if Robbie wasn't there and John was. Whilst Robbie did a tribute song, it would have been better if John's video was played in full.
So moving to see the whole hundred thousand plus crowd joining in with Robbie to pay tribute to the great John Farnham. To see John’s image there was really something. Robbie’s an amazing entertainer, very funny and cheeky and he has a great following here in Australia. He also sang a tribute to the late great Shane Warne during this opening set. He was fabulous right down to his hot pink suit. Good to see John’s musical director Chong Lim too.💕
Robbie Williams did a fantastic job opening the AFL Grand Final! This tribute to John Farnham aswell as a dedication to Shane Warne rip and had great energy and sounded great!
That's what 100.000 people sound like singing their love for John...it was our Football final. Not a hot day, middle of winter....Apparently john was watching from hospital and he was thrilled. It was the pregame entertainment and the bagpipes were real. John is really the only one who can sing this song. Robbie did his best tho and the crowd really loved him in his pink suit .
Hi from Oz. Robbie Williams is mega HUGE in every country except the US. He's British but huge in UK. Europe and Australia. He says he never made the effort to try and break into the American market, which is a pity because you guys missed a phenomenal star. Give his song 'Angels' a listen. Its my fave song of all time. My Mum and I have informed the family its the song we want played at our funeral. Epic. If you like Johnny Farnhams style, you will find Robbie similar. Big anthem songs and ballad style. Ive been to 4 concerts of Johnnys and buying tickets to Robbies next tour when it goes on sale tommorrow
Not a Robbie fan but one of his concerts was amazing, what an entertaining night. Only someone confident would try this song. What a great tribute to John....
The whole 20 minute set was amazing. If you’ve ever seen his Knebworth concert it was like a mini version of that. It was fantastic and far exceeded my expectations. Beautiful tribute to John. The guy on keyboards is Johns long time musical director and bandmate, Chong Lim 👍❤️🇦🇺
Have a listen to on the same day Robbie Williams at the afl grand final singing angels ....the crowd sing very loud lol, it was in honour of Shane Warne our great cricketer who passed this year very young
I love Robbie so much and I didn't think I could love him more, then he did this. I can only imagine it lifted John's spirits a little at least, it made me cry. Thank you so much for this reaction Mike. ❤❤❤
Lovely reaction Mike....We heard from John's wife Jilly that they had the tv on in his hospital room and that John was sitting there waiting for the game to start when Robbie mentioned him and started singing his song....Jilly said he was moved to tears when the crowd of 100,000 joined in... 💓 I still get a tears just watching you watch it too lol. Delta Goodrem then joined Robbie on stage for the final song...She was amazing...in glittering pink to match Robbie lol. Hope you are well. Sending some Aussie love your way 💖
This was the pre-game entertainment before our footy grand final (like your super bowl) I’ve seen Robbie live and he is the ultimate entertainer. You should check out his many other songs. They are all great.
Appreciate your reaction mate, fyi, it was amazing, it was pregame not half time, Robbie and Delta blew the roof off, the G doesn't have a roof but you know what I mean, lol, best set I have ever seen for a AFL Grand Final, earliest GF i can remember is 1991.
Saturday night at the grand final, my team wasn't there but this was a great tribute to Jonh , he saw it it hospital where he has now been transferred to rehab and is doing well .
About the heat - September is in Spring in Australia, so temperatures are iin the 60's or 70's Farenheit (mid) around that time of year so certainly not hot for Aussies! Still appreciate the video!
I’m just quietly whispering that John is a shit load better singer than Robby. If John had given up his family life and his country he would of exploded world wide. But I’m glad he was happy to stick with us and our love and enjoy a normal family life.

And no doubt John was thinking...still no one can sing it like I can 🤣
@@carolynh8866 I doubt John would be like that, but I surely thought it :-}
What a tribute. Get well soon John. We love ya mate. 🇦🇺🎸⚡️🤘🏼🤘🏿💋❤️
The crowd really got involved with this song, especially considering there were over 100,000 people there.

All my thoughts as well. So you've saved my typing fingers lol
No one can perform You're the Voice like John. But nice tribute
@@carolynh8866 Thanks Caro. Just filling in for Kappy who's a bit injured. Let's hope she's not in Farnsey's ward
@@mrmockatoo6786 wouldn't that be cool. Then she'd have some stories to tell..haha

There is one thing that cannot be denied about Robbie Williams. He is definitely, without a doubt, the Morrissey of the 2000's!
but better!
Love and light John. Get better soon❤ Onya Robbie.
100, 000 watching one of the best grand final entertainments in 30 years. The other five (?) songs in his set were probably even better though.
❣️
The performance was before the game started and there were four or five songs.
As you can see the pianist is john's pianist on loan
So sexy in pink Rob🎤❤️😍❌❤️🎤😍
Stop over compensating dude. You are not obligated to like songs because the comments say you should. I Love your videos.

he sing it on gf
Every fan thinks his idol is the best.
Well. This song is not for everyone to sing. I liked the tribute though.
It was deafening at the game.
I think the crowd should have sung it. They sounded better.
Careful Rick
The trolls came for me saying how much better john farnham is at singing lol
@@toddyrocket296 I know Toddy! They're everywhere! And they're not nice...
Totally wrong key for Robbie. To be honest, a bit of a dog's breakfast.
Remember he’s singing a John Farnham song. You’re comparing him to the GOAT. Just take it for what it was, a moving tribute.
