  • 60FPS is now fully playable, combined with Widescreen. This took 2 years, 3 videos, 600+ changes to the source code, and over 1000 hours of testing by 10+ testers!
    This is the most logically-complex mod ever built into CTR, and the largest QA testing effort, out of all the mods in this entire channel.

    Console : Enable Clock Speed Control (ON)
    Console : Slide bar from 100% to 400%
    Emulation : VSync (ON)
    Graphics : Internal Resolution (Automatic)
    DuckStation Settings Widescreen:
    Graphics : Aspect Ratio 16:9
    Note: "Widescreen Rendering" checkbox must be disabled.
    No permitted use of previous Widescreen or 60fps patches (either gameshark, or built-in GTE emu feature) can be combined with this mod, otherwise everything breaks.
    For use with other emulators, this mod does NOT require 8mb RAM expansion, so this can work on other emulators that support 16:9 and emu overclock (PSP, PS3, Nintendo Switch), may work on original PS1, only if CPU is overclocked manually.
    This has all been made possible by a new direction taken in the community. Rather than modding into the "original" game, we are now modding into the "rewritten" game. We can do this now because 72% of the game is rewritten, while the other 28% is bytecode from the original game files. This also allows every mod we've ever written to (soon) all be combined into one "super-mod", or allow us to build a user-friendly Mod Launcher to pick and choose mods. All mods in the "rewritten" game also automatically work in the PC port. PAL/JPN are not supported yet, but will be supported when PAL/JPN functions are also rewritten.

      You can try it in the switch emulator yet still the original in my experience a lot better ( but be aware that the remake have all maps from ps2 crash team racing game so you will miss it bruh )

    As someone who played this on PS1 for hours on end when it released, playing again with a docked Steam Deck OLED on a 4K TV at 60fps is truly incredible. Absolutely amazing work!!

      @@wirered2561 Switch emulators can easily uncap the framerate of Nitro Fueled (even beyond 60 FPS). You don't even need a mod!
      The physics aren't exactly the same, though: most notably, acceleration is higher.

    I'll tell y'all, when the PC port is done, prepare yourselves to witness the biggest launch since CTR: NF. All the features that will be available on launch + support to add mods easily will make this version the "official", I really hope that Naughty Dog or Sony don't try to remove the game or something, 'cause if they do, the community will do something, that's the best news I think we CTR fans have seen for many years, keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to the PC port release date

      ​@Ajoota98 Activision has the full rights to all Crash games prior to acquiring the IP from Vivendi Universal. Because they stopped Spyro: Myths Awakened, chances are that they will take this project down too if it's a decompilation project rather than a ROM Patch.
      Granted, Myths Awakened was a fangame made from scratch, and not a ROM hack or decompilation mod.

    Super awesome!! We will have selectable characters from relative menu? I mean oxide and others for example? But most important (for me), will even be possible to have the cpu that run normally but take shortcuts? I know that times ago someone told me that there is an ultra hard difficulty or something like that, but this just increase cpu to impossible speed, and i don't mean that... xD

    AMAZING! 🤩Out of curiosity I did a test with the 4:3 version on a PS2 DECKARD (90004) and DWKDRV and it seems to me that in some points during the gameplay it is slightly more fluid than the stock CTR, even if it has some graphic flaws and the menu and the presentation of the drivers before the start of the race goes a bit jerky. But I'll do a further test with a second identical PS2 comparing it to stock CTR in real time to be sure. 😅
    Anyway, great work!

    Late to the party. I absolutely love what you guys are doing. The only thing that needs an improvement is the character animation which seems to be capped at 30 FPS (although i understand if its hard to change that) and the credits screen ends way too quickly. Other than that is perfect ❤

    Thanks for your dedication! PS1 didn't have float support so I imagine it wasn't easy to scale the physics from 25/30 to 60 FPS?

      Integer physics are tied to a solid 30FPS, if the game drops to 25FPS then "some" physics slow down. Millisecond-based physics automatically work at any FPS (25/30/60), all the frame-dependent physics had to be interpolated. Linear physics were halved or doubled, quadratic physics were a bit harder. The biggest challenge was rewriting every function in the game, so all patches can be done in C/C++, without injecting assembly all over the game. C/C++ also works on PC Port

    I absolutely can't wait to see when this port is fully finished and the potential it has to develope further. Out of curiousity, what are the chances that after the pc port is established that the game is ported to psp/ps vita with mod support?
    If nothing else, I recall hearing android emulators on vita being developed further, makes me wonder if it could run duckstation running the pc port. I'd love to have some way of playing this portably, though I know that might be difficult to pull off for anything other than a steam deck and other adjacent handheld consoles.

      We're gonna port to several systems, including psp and vita. Keep in mind that duckstation and pc port are separate, and if the pc port is finished we won't need duckstation anymore

    mfw I thought something was off with the framerate until I realised my CZcams itself wasn't set to 60fps
    ...I'd love to try this, but I'd have to sort out my Duckstation's controls because what worked on my last laptop is now almost unplayable

    Looks like it was on the Dreamcast. I love this, and I hope more PS1 games get this treatment some day. Imagine Dreamcast-like Ape Escape...
    Edit: Tried this out for myself, and I love it! Make sure you follow the directions in the description. If you're getting framerate drops like I did at first, that's probably why.

    Any settings suggestions for steam deck? No auto resolution, is 720p recommended? I have aspect ratio at 16x9. This is amazing, I guess the unrended plygons is normal. Excellent work!!

    First to say thanks, my question is:
    Has this link been updated to 60FPS since the last time I tried it? The accelerations lasted a bit longer than they should have, and the jump was higher, so I missed the cube on the Papu-Papu track shortcut because it skipped the platform? Can I get an offline version that is played online if that has been fixed?
