Very cool song. As an American born in 65, I was introduced to Sir Cliff with "Devil Woman," then enjoyed his cool late-70s pop songs ("Dreaming," "A Little in Love"). But when he sang "Suddenly" with my all-time favorite singer Dame Olivia Newton-John, I became hooked. I've been a fan ever since, especially the songs he sang with Dame Olivia. A true treasure.
My dad was a soldier when I was growing up in the 1960s. Our "vacations" were always long weekends visiting relatives or in between moving from one base to another. I always wished we could have a "real" vacation like everyone else and go somewhere to really enjoy ourselves. Never happened. And history repeated itself when I became a soldier. I really like this song because it represents something I never had.
I'm 41 and I've lived in the same place my entire life for the most part. I always wish that my life was more interesting growing up like having a parent in the military that moved around a lot so I got to see the world. So it goes to show you that we always want what we don't have. But looking back on it you wouldn't change a thing. 👍
Never a fan of Cliff but this record is a true 60s classic. A fantastic record that takes me way back to childhood and all those family summer holidays. This record became a major part of UK pop culture for decades, played and sung by family's and kids for decades at the end of term and on our travel to our holiday destinations. So many happy memories. Thanks Cliff.
In my teens I was secretly in love with Cliff😆😆 .Now in my 70s but still love him and the Shadows.Makes me feel young again. Wow all the lovely songs he entertained us with. Love from South Africa
Do you realize that the world actually existed before you were born! This song is from a 1963 movie called "Summer Holiday" staring the singer Cliff Richard.
I was a child in rural Jamaica. At a time when I was carefree & my friends and I would go exploring the forest and picking the fruits of summer. It was magical; so much time with nothing to do.
Cliff gets a lot of flack, but this tune is a great one. It can automatically make one feel good. Classic tune for all time, not just a '60s classic. Thanks, Cliff.
This is way before my time. I used to watch this movie with my mom who was from England. I love this movie and it’s quite literally impossible to find now. I wish I could watch it all again…
This song was written by the Shadows drummer Brian Bennett apparently, a number of years ago he was at Heathrow airport and heard a group of school kids singing "his" song prior to departing on their summer holidays. He approached the teacher in charge and said "do you know I wrote this song" to his surprise, the teacher looked at him as if he was some kind of weird man and walked away with the kids! Absolutely love the Shadows saw them in concert with Cliff (minus Jet Harris) at a vineyard in the Hunter Valley of NSW Australia a few years ago never in my life did i ever think i would see them in concert...i was born in 1963 the year this song and movie was released. Thanks Hank you are a true master of that instrument.
Cliff & The Shadows were BIG in Denmark and Norway. I saw and heard them in Copenhagen 1964 - just before The Beatles arrived in Copenhagen (without Ringo who was ill). I recall some of the early Cliff records: Travelling Light. When I hear the songs now 2022 - I get good memories. And The Shadows were fantastic . Boy! They could play. Together : Cliff and the Shadows was a gift to ears. Niels in Køge, near Copenhagen, Denmark.
I saw this movie in my cinema and I loved it. I was 15 and 1963 was the only year I saw Cliff and the Shads at the Forum of Liège in Belgium where I live. Fabulous concert to be seen on CZcams. I also won three 45 t of Cliff at the radio. That's how I loved learning English at school.
Cliff desevres the recognition just like elvis!! He was my childhood memories!! Elvis and cliff in the seventies and early eighties!! God bless, it takes me back.
Beautiful song. I have seen this film several times it,s a very good musical. Cliff Richard is a legend whether he,s singing or acting. Quite simply a megastar. The critics have got some nerve making cheap and nasty comments about his music. None of the folks who hate his music will be making music in 50 years time.
I'm 46 yo French welder and I discover on 4th Sept 2021 this wonderful singer that is Cliff Richard. I just love him, I just love his voice and his song, the "ambiance" of the happy 60's! 🍀💐🍀💐🍀💐🍀🌠
Because at the time there was another music icon ruling the waves in America, his name was Elvis ;) had Elvis not existed then cliff probably would have made it there
@@aaronjones7260 Cliff Richard was handsome and a great singer, but he didn't have the air of working-class danger that Elvis did. And Frankie Avalon had the beach movie genre sewn up.
I appreciate to remember that song : holidays on Bournemouth beach with Clara ( 1963). I know in those days, "we were the young ones "!!!!! And now ? Only old boomers ....
In the back of the car with my sibling, Dad driving us down the autoroute, maybe with a detour to a chateau in the loire valley for Mum's favourite wine, on the way to our hols in the south of France. If we weren't listening to ABBA or Beatles, we were singing this song in the back, happy...so happy, anticipating the sun, heat and that first view of the blue sea, which Dad would always shout out to us the moment he saw it. Magical times. Really magical. I guess we were quite privileged too.... so thanks Dad! Maybe YOU passed us on the autoroute in the 70's-80's, racing down there 😆? Oh and Cliff was far better looking than Elvis and this song reminds me of a time that I was proud to be British ! Thanks also to Numero Una - RIP.
I was 19 & a student nurse @ The Royal London Hospital. My parents & 5 younger brothers were driving to Greece that summer during the school holidays for a month & I certainly could get no time off. I was so upset & frustrated. Then along came this film, so I was a little mollified, tho still envious!!
I saw the film as a kid just the once in 1990 as a midday movie. My family were traveling around Australia and living in a caravan from a couple of years. Somehow I’ve never forgotten the words to this tune which I think speaks to how evocative and lovely it is! I don’t know why it never occurred to look it up on CZcams before today! 😂
A film that I remember very fondly and I am so sorry that it is no longer broadcast when I saw it, my sister and I recorded it on the song cassette and listened to it as much as we liked.

Chicken Run 2 may not have been great, but it introduced me to this song, and I gotta give it props for that.
