Sorry but I had to laugh at the typewriter impression part. While I'm old enough to be your mother (my way of saying you're not old) I can't help but think that there are many people closer to your son's age who have NO IDEA what a typewriter is 😂
As a younger person (16) I can assure you most of us know what typewriters are! Using them correctly may be a different story, though. 😸
@@joeyboy4827 no offense, but where I live, many might not know what they are. I still can't get over the fact they stopped teaching cursive writing in schools.
@@IDontSuckAtLifeakaJanis3975 It is strange! My great aunt taught me cursive when I was young, I believe she felt the same. I suppose I didn’t take location into account when it comes to typewriters.
Lol pleeezzzz tell me no that can't be true
Nvr seen one oh gads your right!
Dittos here.!!!
This is so pretty. I wish it came in plus size
Simply Gorgeous, Corrina !!! You did a Wonderful job !!
Also, your hair looks great ! As someone who also has to wear wigs most of the time, I know that some seem to just not look right 'to us'. But, that short one looks classy on you ! It just takes some time to 'feel' some. They are Beautiful on you 💜
Thank you so much!!
Just ordered the pattern. I love the colors you chose. I'll probably replace the ivory with a dark green. I was a teenager in the 70s. I don't remember many clothes that had hoods other than winter coats. But, I do remember granny square vests. Kids who had someone who crocheted had them. My grandmother use to make us crocheted slippers every few years for Christmas. I loved them. My sister and I would slide across the floors with them. Of course, our mom would yell at us. Telling us we would break our necks if we fell. Unfortunately, she passed away before she was able to teach me to crochet. I had planned to ask my parents if I could spend a few weeks with her. So, I could learn to can and crochet. But, she died before I had the chance. Luckily, I was able to teach myself from diagrams in a pattern book.
This coat is so gorgous!!! I have never made clothes yet, but I know that I will be making this. Imagine the coloured as, black, white and dark red. It would be to die for. Chef's kiss!!
Girl! Every time I watch your video, I end up with a new pattern on my To Do List.... I HAVE to make this in black and white....😮 😊❤
Love this ❤
I’m a child of the 60s and my Nan crocheted a cream dress with matching red coat for me and my sister and along with our knee length white socks and patent leather shoes, we were the bees knees 😂
Love watching you crochet simply because it reminds me of so many great memories that perhaps I just wouldn’t recall.
Thank you ❤
Love that!
Ooh, girl, excited for this one! Beautiful work as always!❤
You look beautiful in that jacket! Well done friend
Thank you so much!
Some people love shoes, my thing is sweaters,, can never hav enough.., This is absolutely gorgeous.. ❤ and looks great on you..
This coat is Funktabulous !!!!! she says rushing off to check her stash, comes back a little slower - I don't have Aran/worsted weight yarn = thats special stuff here in South Africa = our reasonably priced yarns are generally DK or Chunky. I just might need to drive to town tomorrow for some groceries, like a pack of lettuce and 10 balls of yarn 😇😇
Dang it!!! Another one to save and do!!!!! lol I’ve got so many projects started and planned!!!!
Congrats on finishing this fun piece! This done in shades of grey, black and white would be so chic!
That’s what I was thinking too!
This is such a gorgeous sweater coat ❤ I love these colors you chose. I can’t wait to try this myself. Your tutorials are so amazing. Thank you for the time and effort you put into each one. I know the detailed explanations and samples of the stitches for each row are very time consuming for you, but they are so incredible helpful, especially for those of us that have difficulties reading patterns. Thanks again for all your extra efforts, they a verg much appreciated.
Corinna, you have the wonderful ability to make perfect sense out of something that would otherwise not be easy!! This tutorial was so easy to follow. I’m seriously considering making this coat as it would be perfect for winter in Florida. Now I need to decide my colors. I look forward to the next tutorial.
Thank you so much for that :)
This is so beautiful Corinna. I love the colours you've chosen too. ❤
I like that. And from the size and your wearing it, I think that if we larger people want to make that very size , may be able to wear it , just it won't be as oversized which is how I'd prefer. And it could be worked out a trim to make button holes and even putting a collar and cuffs on it. That would make it more to my liking but it's still pretty just the way you made it.
FYI I learned how to crochet in the late 1970's and I think the shell stitch was a very popular stitch. I wouldn't mind making this cardigan and to modify it with trim would be easy.
Oh my Corrina! Honestly, when the notice popped up for this turorial my first reaction was "wow, that's busy". But your fashion show immediately changed my mind! Almost got whiplash! 😂 And I've gotten my baby sisters thumbs up to make one for her - after her silk dragonfly stole! It will be very warm for cold winters with the way the shells are extended with rows of sc rather than just making tc for height. So, I will be buying your VERY REASONABLY priced pattern (so I can note the size and color choices she has approved for it) and watching every minute of your excellent as always tutorials. Do you normally wear size 12/14? That's the size my sister wears, but I think it should go up a size so she can wear it over winter clothes. What do you think?
(aside - your excellent imitation of a typewriter return reminded me of winning a typing contest on a manual typewriter in high school; still have the Lawton newspaper article somewhere)
Thank you so much! , and you can make this in more muted and similar to eachother colors to tone it down :)
Great, another thing to add to my list 😂
This is adorable. I love it. My goal for next year is to work on garmet making, to move beyond scarves and wraps. I'm definitely saving these tutorials. This is just too cute.
Oh, that is groovy and fabulous!
Maybe it could of not mattered, in my family they are All knitters,no one crocheted at all. I was the only one who knew how crochet! I learnt in the 70’s, bc I had a baby and nurses, who were from Philippines❤️, taught me how to crochet, which I’m very happy that they did, they had alot of patience
I love this! I grew up during the’70s so this brings back memories. I’m going to put it on my to do list. Thank you for taking the time to do this.🧶💝
Oooo, my Corinna! What a perfect coat to do! I love the color changes (I will hate the tails later...), the scalloped design & of course the hoodie.
I am a fabulous plus-sized gal who has to have this. Instead of a 5mm hook I will be using a 7mm hook. I tried a 6mm but only gained 1/2" in length for the starting chain. With a 7mm I gained 1.5" (18" total). I also have twin triple D girls that need to fit as well so wish me luck! If it works out or not, I hope that I will remember to post the measurements of the final 70's throwback hoodie to help out others.
I have an awful time reading patterns. All of the words seem to mess up my brain. When u left us to do our size (Row 7), I froze. I was to have 22 shells but kept getting 23. I would back track, find that I either missed or skipped too many stitches, lol! I ripped it out 4 times! I went step by step by step alllll over again & *Bahboom* ! ....23 shells again! Well, I fudged it to equal 22 :)))
I sure wish that I could crochet faster to be able to wear this sooner :) But, after raiding my yarn stash...a trip to Walfart is required to top up what I already have. Yay!!! Yarn shopping for meeeeee!
EDIT: The colors that I chose are: Red Heart Denim Fleck - Color 1 (dark), Red Heart Tan (I think - no label) - Color 2 (Med), Red Heart Cream Fleck - Color 3 (light), & Red Heart Charcoal Grey - Color 4 (Darker). I couldn't get much more neutral than this (even tho I adore colors) but I wanted to be able to wear this with jeans...hence the blue. I guess a couple shades of grey, a light tan & white would be very neutral but I like the Denim blue & I had this on hand :)
This coat is so cute on you, Winner-Winner Girl.
Sweetie you too stinkin cute in that jacket, bless your heart❤❤❤ you rule as I always say
I wasn't optimistic about this one. After your fashion show, i love this jacket and your color choices. You look wonderful in your jacket.
Thank you so much!
I love it!!!!
I have never have seen this, I was in the business world in the 70’s. I became a mother in the 70’s.
I went to England in the late 60’s, no one over there had on this cardigan and Europe is always ahead when it comes to fashion
Saw many without this is on, but the Fisherman Sweaters were very popular than, they were all knitted and very very warm to wear, took the lace of a coat!
Wow that is too cool! I remember my mother making my sister a mohair jacket with bobbles and a hood in bright blue in the late '70s (I dont remember her ever wearing it though),
So cute!

Corrina. I found the most beautiful bookmark pattern. Its exactly what I was looking for, now I just have locate my cotton. Its the thick handicraft cotton, should be stiff enough, so no need to starch it!’
