Before the relocation DFW had two Texas League teams called the Dallas Eagles and Fort Worth Cats who hated each other on yanks vs Sox levels. Another reason is to get the whole state to approve the idea of having a sports team, because it would cost tax dollars to build the stadiums, and the state of Minnesota (St. Paul being it's capital) could have the whole state pay taxes on a stadium if it were a team for the whole state. Hence the name of not just the Twins, but the Vikings, Wild, and Timberwolves as well.

They were ajmost the Minnesota GIANTS. Horace Stoneham bought the AAA-Millers, so the New York Giants had territorial rights to MSP. They were going to move when their lease on the Polo Grounds was up after the 1957 season. At the 1956 World Series, Los Angeles coty officials had already apporoached a frustrated Walter O'Malley, to get him to relocate from Brooklyn. O'Malley knew that the NL would not approve a single team moving to California, but probably would approve of two. So he proposed that the Giants akso leave New York, knowing they would anyway, but instead to San Francisco. Stoneham, no longer needing the Minneapolis Millers, sold the club to Washington Senators owners Cal Griifith, who, despite a commitment from DC officials to build what would become RFK Stadium, had the Senators move to MSP in 1961.

Just rationally thinking makes you realize that they would never even be the Lakers that you associate LA with today, they would just be like the Minnesota Timberwolves but with some history, but not much media attention

As a Minnesota resident all my life I do have to say as much as I love the vast majority of the state. I do hate how everything here revolves around the the twin cities and surrounding suburbs. And I’m not talking politics either. Just seems that whenever the state want to add something new or something that sounds fun or entertaining. All the snobs and sanctuary residents just say whatever it is, is lame or not cool. Then they never address the rest of the state🤷🏼

That's because 85% of the population is in the Metro area. I'm from the Iron Range and live in Minneapolis. People ask where I'm from and they act like they've never heard of the Iron Range. Most people in the twin cities don't ever think about anything north of Fridley.

Minnesota is the land of 10 thousand lakes .. is there even a lake in Minneapolis? They're right on the Mississippi river .. Im from Minnesota and only been to the cities a few times but I've never seen a lake there but the river is very prominent... I always say the same thing tho .. there's no lakes in los Angeles at all lol they have the ocean .. should've changed it to something about the ocean instead ..
