- During his guest appearance on July 31, 2009, Regis suggested he and Dave take their conversation atop the Sullivan Theater marquee after every taping. It didn't happen that night, but sometime later they engaged in chat there that lasted for 30 minutes.
All that was used were two snippets that aired after the closing credits on August 26 and October 9.
Two giants of television we will never see the likes of again
RIP Regis Philbin
I can imagine Dave sitting on his porch today next to an empty chair, smoking a cigar, and missing his friend.
Makes me sad. I hope we have Letterman for as long as Regis
Good point
kiko 1 longer! Hopefully as long as Reiner.
Letterman: Do we start tonight?
Regis: No. I can’t make it.
Classic.
Haiku: Clearly We Just Never Make it in Time..
Cole: What Are you Talking About??
Haiku: Well, It was the didn't Made it in Time for a Leak or Something.
Lucy: Are You Sure, Haiku?
Haiku: Yes, I'm Sure.
Mr. Zed: Goooooooood!
Two all-time greats! Today's television viewers will never know how great these guys were and are!
The industry did the same thing to Regis that they did to Ed Sullivan. Both class acts!
4:09 I love this! Reege was the best! Dave was EPIC! Again, I love this! Lol. Thanks for sharing.
I love the way he raises his voice towards the end of a sentence. REGIS! OUTRAGEOUS!
We are going to miss Regis
When they're on top of the roof it kind of reminds me of the two old guys from the muppet show that used to crack jokes at people. R.I.P Regis. 🤗🍷💕
I love dave letterman. And I am in the uk. I wish we had a chat show host like him
Thank you for all of your posts.. Letterman and Regis were magic together .
I love David Letterman and Regis. Gonna miss Regis.
In August 2009, The Macy's Event Organizers just changed the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade Route. Instead of going to Broadway and Theatre District, it goes down to Central Park South and down to Bryant Park. In 2012, Times Square was removed up to 6th Avenue.
Regis Philbin
Funny man
Rest In Peace
The best late night host ever. And the two of them together are gold.
Thats amazing Thank you soo much. I love those wholesome exchange
You just win a sub, you're doing a good job man.
That's great. I never knew this happened. Regis talking about Jack Paar reminds me that he and Paar were guests with either Tom Snyder or Charles Grodin on the CNBC show. It had to be one of Jack Paar's last appearances on television.
real talk show host unlike what we have today!
This is great, thank you ❤
God bless both of these guys
Dang, when I saw the thumbnail I really hoped that it was just something you found randomly and not a posthumous homage to Regis ... RIP Regis
REGIS ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow this was awesome.
There was a time when I thought the three people that could have been called Mr. NY would have been Letterman, Philbin and McEnroe. Doing research, I found my cousin Richard Hamilton sitting in the band on the Joey Bishop show. CZcams is a remarkable tool for research.
Mr Showbusiness! Rest in peace.
RIP Regis Philbin.😢😢😢🥺😭
We lost a national treasure
I haven't seen this! So Cool!
Round circles. Circles are always round.
RIP Regis 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Dave Genius-orginal..Regis a god human-God bless him..Norway..
Saudades do maior apresentador. . David Letterman...
This is really cool
That's lovely.
I think I just watched Regis lay out the format for the podcast as we know it. Check some dates.
If you put up every piece of Regis I am afraid we might have a Don obit!?!
So this is where Jerry Seinfeld got the idea for Comedians in Cars drinking coffee.
Imho the last Great American the G.O.A.T
RIP
Grim reaper:your dead.
Regis:I LOVE IT!!
Hi Don, I was wondering if you knew what episode a certain incident happened. My memory is failing me. From what I remember something bad had happened to Paul Shaffer and he told the story about what happened and how he had contacted Dave and dave used his resources to help him out. If it doesn't ring a bell that's fine I just can't find anything about it.
The closest that comes to mind isn’t necessarily that something “bad” happened to Paul. Only that Dave provided the funds for Paul to put together a benefit concert for either the Dave Clark Five or The Zombies. Going only on memory here.
@@dongillerThat could have been it. Thanks for answering! :)
Did Paul and the band ever get into the Rock Hall? I know that they’ve been the house band for the inductions.
Not yet.
Hi Don! I know it’ll be a huge project and I don’t mean to pressure, but....will a Regis compilation ever happen?
Unlikely, at least for now.
Legendário os dois😭😭😭
My kingdom for a @dongiller Regis on Letterman compilation!!
I wish I could, but that’s no longer possible anymore.
@@dongiller Really? Why is that? Copyright junk?
@@lukespurgeon5964 I’m no longer able to share additional Dave-owned or -licensed content.
@@dongiller well bummer! You were doing God's work!
I dunno about that, but thanks!
At least the channel is still intact.
Name of the song at the beginning of the video? thanks
Curtis Mayfield - “Move On Up.” His version here - czcams.com/video/6Z66wVo7uNw/video.html
just two old dudes having a cigar atop their millions of dollars (figuratively), must be nice
Regis always seemed like the older fellow.. until this. Dave caught up to him. Maybe too many cigars
Round circles? Can circles be any other shape David ?
The only time I recall that Dave left me shaking my head was when he started wearing tassled loafers. That's always struck me as a tell of sort of a character flaw, so lame and boring that it indicated a man's inner life. Especially from a guy with such an off-center, creative, and quirky reputation - just a carefully crafted public persona? Perhaps being too judgemental is one of my flaws?
