In this video, we’re going to tell you which whole grains help to reduce inflammation, and why this is important for blood sugar control!
    7. Buckwheat
Buckwheat is a fantastic source of protein, fiber, and complex carbs - which means that they give you a longer-lasting form of energy and don’t raise your blood sugar levels as quickly as simple carbs do!
also, this whole grain contains a special diabetes-fighting ingredient that helps by reducing oxidative stress levels and increasing insulin sensitivity.
    6. Brown rice
Brown rice is a great source of fiber, antioxidants, and lots of other vitamins and minerals.
It’s particularly high in the antioxidants flavonoids which help to reduce the risk of oxidative stress and other chronic illnesses.
    5. Millet
Millets are a low glycemic index food so your body takes longer to break down the carbs in them! This makes your blood sugar levels rise a lot slower than other foods and gives you a slow and sustained release of energy.
    4. Rye
Rye is high in soluble fiber that helps to slow the digestion and absorption of carbs and sugar. It also contains special phenolic compounds that slow the release of blood sugar and insulin into your bloodstream.
    3. Bulgur
Bulgur contains both soluble and insoluble fiber - these help with digestion, gut health, and weight management. It also contributes to regulating your blood sugar levels.
    2. Farro
Farro has high protein and high fiber. Protein is great for helping to stabilize blood sugar levels.
It is also rich in Vitamin E that helps to decrease fasting insulin, glucose levels, and oxidative stress.
    1. Quinoa
These seeds are packed with fiber, protein, and many vitamins and minerals. The high levels of fiber and protein in quinoa are fantastic for controlling blood sugar.

I am doing the Ketogenic life style. I am wondering if this would cause a conflict of interest. I keep my carbs below 50 per day. 🌻❤🌻

Micheolene, I too wondered that, there's a good book and info about grains by Nicole Apelian PHD. Certain Grains are very important for diabetics,/slows the digestion process. and necessary for proper bowel function. The idea of pushing whole grains as being "safe" for diabetics is extremely misleading. The grains you mention here are all high in carbohydrate, which cause BG and insulin spikes in diabetics. Having a high fiber content does not necessarily make these grains safe. Diabetics should be advised to check their blood glucose levels before eating any of these grains, and check it again about one and a half to two hours after eating to see by how much their BG has risen. This is the safe, and only way by which diabetics would be able to determine whether a food is safe or not safe. This whole grain narrative is being spewed out by many people on CZcams who do not care about how dangerous this kind of information could be to diabetics. I encourage diabetics to not be misled by this and other videos that preach the whole grain narrative day in and day out. Best BG control is achieved only by reducing carb intake, and the Keto diet works best. When BG is in a good range, people can experiment with different foods, and add a tiny portion to their diet if it is not causing a significant rise in BG.

Thank you. I am on the Keto diet and was looking for a wheat substitute for bread. Evidently this is not it. 🌻❤🌻

@@micheolene8775 There are many recipes for Keto breads on CZcams where coconut and almond flour are the main kinds of flour used. I realize that you have to keep searching for alternatives, and there are times when you would have to modify recipes to make them safe. You can even find Keto cauliflower pizza crust recipes. In time, you will learn how to modify and prepare many delicious meals that are low carb.

But these grains in moderation are much better than wheat or rice which is staple throughout the world. And some of them add additional nutriants apart from the fiber content. Keto is just another dient that is in vogue now, but how many can just maintain this diet in the long run and stick with it?

Skinny people can also be diabetic, not just people who are overweight. I am 105 lbs, just recently became diabetic with healthy eating but cholesterol still high and drs are surprised because I'm so thin. Everyone has different opinions regarding whole grains. Who to trust/believe?

You're right, diabetes can affect people of all body types, including those who are thin. Weight is just one factor, and genetics and lifestyle also play a role. When it comes to whole grains, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional who can provide personalized advice based on your specific needs and health condition. They can help you make informed decisions about your diet and manage your cholesterol levels effectively. Stay strong and keep up your healthy eating habits!
