- It’s gonna be Mei! 🐼 Watch the brand-new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red, coming March 2022.
Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter-an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda! Directed by Academy Award® winner Domee Shi (Pixar short “Bao”) and produced by Lindsey Collins, Turning Red releases on March 11, 2022.

When is this movie coming out?
Nsync- "It's gonna be May!"
End of trailer: March
YES that bugged me so much, what a missed opportunity!
But the actual lyrics are "It's gonna be me."
It’s gonna be Mei, as in her name.
Zahir Sookoor I ❤ your comment 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
In the land of lost opportunities...
I'm loving how Mei's friends aren't kept in the dark about her secret and are actually supportive of her. Especially since, of course kids would love it if their friend could turn into a giant fluffy red panda.
It's like having your own personal Totoro/Pokemon/what have you
Who wouldn't want to be a giant red panda? WHO???!!!

I love how Pixar decided to go with a more cartoony style of animation for this movie like they did with 'Luca'.
Me too!
I’m just imagining this is in the same universe.
No
Dude every single pixar movie is a cartoon though?
I hate it
What I love most is she throws her hands up when she's startled. Which is a real thing red pandas do to make themselves look bigger
Except they clearly know they look cute when doing it because they do it for zookeepers too to get treats.
And she IS bigger
@@mnomadvfx Plot twist, they hate the treats, every time they throw up their hands they are actually begging the zookeeper to leave them alone but the zookeepers are evil and give them treats anyway, but it's so incredibly sadistic that we think it's much more likely the red pandas are just being cute and the zookeepers are being nice.

@@Gooberwares , good point.
Yes a much Simpler time when there were less teachers strikes

Funny thing too, I was saying on another video how I love the "best friend" movie dynamic and how much Disney-only animations overlook it a lot (with a few notable exceptions), but I guess that's because Pixar was already doing it in spades. Glad we get to see their take on a buddy group like this.
Finally, a movie where the nerdy kids don't spend the entire movie trying to become cool/popular. Seriously, I’m honestly digging this group dynamic: how fresh is it to see the nerdy kids who are comfortable being themselves??
Reminds me of Mabel Pines, Candy, and Grenda from Gravity Falls. They are comfortable geeking out in their own little group and are crazy for boy bands. The NSYNC song in this trailer gives that same vibe. Pure fun!

@@kvalentine3283 they already know this fact, they named it after the red panda, and had a live feed of a Red Panda exhibit on the main page when you’d start up the browser

These 4 girls at 0:35 reminded me of the Teletubbies because of the colours they wear.
Okay so I’m surprised that they didn’t follow the typical formula of hiding the secret “powers” from friends and family as well as being embarrassed of her new form. Her embracing her special self feels refreshing. It all seems to be a metaphor about growing up into a teenager and I like the positive spin on it. Oh also her being an overachiever and not embarrassed or mocked for it.
Yeah pretty convinced it's a movie-worthy spin on puberty. The "armpit sniffing" kinda gave it away. She might just be a little young, hence why her friends and family were so surprised yet supportive.
Yep, pretty obviously, "Turning Red" is about periods and puberty. Just personified as turning into a red panda. This movie is gonna be amazing for subconsciously teaching young girls how to handle growing up, and all the little 'surprises' that come with it.
To me it just seems like it's just pushing away from one old trope for the new modern trope, this just screams your basic rebel formula, just from this one trailer it's easy to see where it's heading, I mean the main character said it themselves."I've always been perfect little MeiMei(sorry if I misspelled it)" her emotional state will be the key, and I'd put money on that during the whole movie her parents will attempt to show her the old cultured way to suppress or control her "panda form" and she'll reject saying that it's outdated or something to that effect, ultimately she'll be in the right somehow and her parents will be like "we should have listen to you" or something, this movie and that new Hispanic one just screams culture pandering to me, it feels forced, hopefully I'm wrong and we get another hit like "Coco" but looking at disneys record so far as of 2020 I'm not convinced, Disney doesn't innovate any more, they just follow the trends

Wonderful movie. It’s a shame audiences these days do not have an appetite for such deeply personal and insightful stories.
Why do you hate Encanto
Can we stop for a minute to appreciate how *EXPRESSIVE* these characters are?!
AND THESE CHARACTER DESIGNS ARE *SO* AWESOME!
Yess the expressuons are amazing i love them!!!
expressions*
If you like the expressiveness of these characters, I do recommend checking out the film Lupin The Third The First. The character models in that film are so expressive and flows so smoothly that it is honestly one of the best cgi film of the past few years.

it's so surreal seeing a pixar movie taking place in Canada, I love it XD I saw that box of Timbits
WHERE’RE THEY
@@aardwoof_ Toronto
@@xxTC-96xx I think they meant the timbits
@@toughspitfire ah, my bad. they're at the breakfast table
No, what's surreal is that Pixar is lowering its standards for art styles and character designs.
I’m a 26 year old male. I personally related a lot to the characters (MOSTLY Mei). And also, I loved this movie WAY more than I expected. I’ve seen it 4 times already.
I normally watch A24/Neon/old school horror. But wow, Turning Red went beyond my expectations. So glad I gave it a chance.
Prime pixar 2006>>>>>>
I love the new direction these Pixar movies are going by not having cliche stuff in their movies, and instead having Mei show her friends her secret straight away.
This seems really childish compared to their older movies.
@@musabs5848 it's just a trailer
Pixar has always a been childish appeal
but with mature message
@@lag00n54 idk, just the art-style, everyone dancing, the expressions, it seems like such a cliche concept that we’ve seen before. Though I think people would probably enjoy this compared to like the old classics nowadays. It seems more ‘trendy’.
@@musabs5848 go hate somewhere else about a movie we haven't even seen yet.
I thought Bakugou hates everything
I really like that Priya is clearly an active member of the friend group even though the expression she has most of the time could be interpreted as her preferring not be. I mean she’s vibing with the beat, marching with a sign, bustin some moves, swooning over the boy band, saying the tail’s cool, all with that deadpan face. I like it!
I know, right? I already know she’s gonna be my favorite character.
I love her so much, and the movie hasn’t even come out yet
I knew this one girl in school called Priya who was a right snob, and I remember she once said something about her name meaning "princess" in another language. I don't know if that's true or not, but I still cringe when I think of that.
The fact that there is a character in this movie called Priya who acts totally different to the one I knew gives me a new appreciation for the name, as I often associate names with people I know have those names along with their behaviour, good or bad. So, I naturally associated the name Priya with a brat who wanted to grow up too fast and was way too invested in whatever was the trend. Glad I can see the name under a better light now.
@@piperjojostott7790 I think Priya means “Beloved” in Sanskrit/Hindi, and it’s one of those names that’s really popular. Seriously, I see that name everywhere. Still a pretty name though.
@@aishutoon4553 Huh. Maybe that girl I'm on about made the whole thing about her name meaning "princess" up, or someone else told her and she believed it. This was around Year 3 in primary school, I think. We were all around 7-8 years old at that time.
Bring us back Cars and Incredibles
I thought I despised Abuela from Encanto the most.. then here comes Mei's mom...
(I understand they come from a place of trauma but ughhh lol)
Why do you hate Encanto
i love the round stylized character designs pixar’s been going for. really refreshing to see.
But its the exact same style as adventure time, gravity falls, steven universe, star, bare bears, etc. It's the same bland & cliche style. It's the opposite of refreshing.
@@MisterHeroman all of those shows have pretty different styles of you actually compared them. just because a character has a round ‘bean’ head doesn’t mean the shows have the same art style. besides, i’m talking about 3d-animated theatrical movies here. a large majority of them go for a more pseudo-realistic disney style, that was popularized by disney/pixar movies. most 3d-animated movies now actually do look the same, which is what makes stylization like this refreshing for me. plus, i just like the way it looks. even if you think the style is “overused” that doesn’t mean other people can’t like it.
@@casperwashere no what are you guys even on😂😂 this?you call this refreshing?? Wow
@@casperwashere Never said you can't like it, why did you think that? That's a toxic mindset looking for a fight.
And they are the same, that's the definition of the same art style. And this one is the same as Luca, so it's not new either.
@@MisterHeroman" toxic mindset looking for a fight" says while you copy paste the same "hurr durr its not original" comment on any comment talkin about how they like the art style. Sure bud.
I honestly like how the black/brown girl here is the emo calm character. I feel like it's rare for characters like her to be given such a unique personality, they're either bubbly or sassy.
No, actually it’s a new sterotype. Same trope in Dear Evan Hansen, and basically all new cartoons
THIS
And she’s a furry
@@Dr.LongMonkey I haven't seen any other chatacters with this trope, can you give examples?
@@Dr.LongMonkey if you are referring to Alana, I wouldn’t consider her the emo calm character at all. If anything, she fits more into the bubbly personality that commenter mentioned. She just has a deep backstory.
😂😅, this animation was hilarious and relatable, so good. Glad I went too see it. The beatbox girls😅 I loved it!
I got this on DVD and I got a cute plushy of Mei as a red panda and she is so cute 🥰

I watched this with my 3 tween girls last night. It was so much fun and made us laugh a lot. They loved it!
Watched this with my three daughters and during the first 10 minutes they were yelling at each other…hey that’s you! My oldest is a straight-A student, my middle child considers herself the awkward one and the youngest is really the crazy Panda. It was fun to see my three girls portrayed in this movie.

This movie looks cool❤️🔥❤️🔥
i love the color grading in this, and it reminds me of how cringy i am in middle school 😂 the setting looks very natural while being cartooney. i love how they include varities of characters, bc it reminds me of my country where there are tons of ethnic groups here. i love the panda mei design too! it looks like your good ol red panda, but it kinda sticks in your head haha. i hope this will be great
The little Korean girl (Abby? forgot her name) is the best part of this movie. xD hahaha so funny. Whoever came up with her idea and character deserves a raise. Overall, the animation style is so good and it almost feels like it was animated at 60fps :D
This Is A Very Good Movie I Watched! I Watched it 11 Times
Cause i Love it! Even My Cousin Loves it.
