  • How to jump start your cars starter relay. This is useful for when your car computer is playing up and not allowing you to start your car for safety reasons. We are basically brushing number 30 & 87. You can run a push button from these to inside your car and use it as a push button starter

    You rock dude. 3 and 5 are the ones you need for Toyotas. I just started my 2001 Toyota Avalon using a wire that I soldered a fuse spade to each and to better fit the relay interface. The kicker is that the immobilzer is now reset, and the car starts as usual.

    Dude. You just saved my damn ass. Holy shit. I can't believe this worked. '01 Impala with probably ignition switch and/or bcm problems. My intermittent starting car started with a paperclip. Holy shit. I had been stuck at work for 2 hours trying to start my car.

    • @reavesmo8060
      @reavesmo8060 Před 4 lety

      @johnny Macon if you have a similar car to mine, maybe an early 2000s GM, or honestly any car that's old enough you can do some repairs yourself, do yourself a favor and replace the ignition switch. That thing was fucking up EVERYTHING. Turn signals, warning lamps, stuff you couldn't imagine having anything to do with an ignition switch. I replaced the part for 28 bucks off eBay.

    • @reavesmo8060
      @reavesmo8060 Před 4 lety

      @johnny Macon I would say if you think you can do the repair definitely change that ignition switch. The parts you can get dirt cheap online are a lot of times just as good as the AutoZone stuff that's 5 times more. It's kind of a pain in the ass popping the dash and crap off but it doesn't take any real skill, just time. And my car was throwing tons of codes too (they actually sell really good diagnostic tools now for under 100 bucks that Bluetooth to your phone), a lot of them related to that stupid switch. It had some kind of short in it and the way everything is wired together it ended up causing major problems before I fixed it. I was hesitant at first because I didn't want to get in some situation where I screwed up the antitheft system and had to have it towed to a dealer and pay a grand. But it ended up being a 28 dollar fix and not hard.

    Even when the car is in gear.
    Kapiche!?
    MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN D OR P __BEFORE__ DOING THIS, or it'll rundown whoever/whatever is standing in line with it.
    For extra safety, try to put a competent person in the driver's seat BEFORE doing it, and tell them NOT to touch anything unless the car starts to move immediately its cranked.

    I found that after you start it from the relay with a pin put it in neutral then drive then back to park, then cut it off. This resets the computer because sometimes the starter and ignition won't engage if the computer thinks the car is in neutral, and that sometimes happens after youve changed your relay. Now it should crank with the key providing you have replaced the needed parts0 (starter, relay, etc).

    Do you know what would be very helpful with this video? If you were to explain where the pins 30 and the pin 87 are coming from or going to. The reason is because on my starter relay, I don’t have a pin number 30 or a pin number 87 however if you were to explain which one is coming from the battery which one is coming from the ignition and which one is going to the solenoid and which one is going to the ground. If I had to guess you’re pin number 30 is coming from the battery, and of course your pin number 87 raised to the solenoid. Just a suggestion, and only because you can’t ever assume that any little or big part may be the same. All that being said, this is a great hack, great video, I hope I don’t blow up my car! Lol

    my car does this, it will only start by using bypassing starter relay.
    i've gotten new starter relay, when using a multimeter the old and new one still work but whenever i plug them in, it wont start unless i short it.
    Any ideas what it could be?

    There is an interruption in your video exactly when you could explain how you chose 30 and 87 out of the for numbers. Maybe this is valid for a certain car model but this it's not a general rule.So can you explain?

    Sorry, my typo: that should be: -
    MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN N OR P _BEFORE_ DOING THIS, or it'll run down whoever/whatever is standing in line with it.
    And no, it's not a stupid comment.
    When non-mechanically inclined people are having a bad hair day, they do all sorts of things that are illogical to tech-heads.
    When (not if) it fires and runs, with no-one in it, just imagine the consequences (freeways, busy roads, driveways, &c, &c).
