That doesn’t make the punishment fair, especially given the context - i.e., carrying ammo is not illegal where the guy lives and he didn’t intentionally bring it with him. Life is not black and white. 12 years is too much for a mistake.

Once it was when I found ammunition on a trail when I was hiking and threw it in my pack to clean up the “litter” and forgot about it, and then when I flew to Scotland it was found in the pocket of my pack in Heathrow. The second time I used an old range bag to travel and there was one stray round of 9mm ammo in the bottom corner of a pocket that must have fallen out of an ammo box. @damnjustassignmeone Actually it is in fact the main cause. Persons smuggling firearms and ammunition through ports on entry from the United States effects literally all Caribbean countries. Caribbean countries do not manufacture ammunition and firearms. A father a three should ensure he's doing what is correct. He should be responsible and ensure he takes no prohibited time to a foreign country. Morally I agree it doesn't deserve 12 years and I'm sure the judge would agree too. He'll spend 8 months or less. But at the end of the day, law is law. Residence get sentenced to 12 years however outsiders believe they shouldn't get the same charge?
